The Ford Mustang EcoBoost experiencing error code P144c on the OBD diagnostic tool likely signals a problem with the Evaporative emission system purge solenoid. The Powertrain control module conducts tests for the EVAP canister purge, indicating that the solenoid valve may be stuck open. This test occurs under minimum boost conditions once per drive cycle when specific conditions are met. Symptoms of this issue include rough idling, illuminated check engine light, and difficulty starting the vehicle. You can check the purge valve by detaching the hose connected to the valve itself and placing your finger over the hose while the engine is running. If you sense suction, it signifies that the valve has malfunctioned and is stuck open.
The test for the evap canister purge check valve is done when there is low boost, once in each driving cycle, if the necessary conditions are satisfied.
