The P0299 trouble code on the Chevy Trax points to an issue with the turbocharger that leads to reduced boost power. A mechanic will inspect the turbo or supercharger, injector control pressure sensor, engine mechanical issues, low oil, or faults in the EGR system. This problem arises when the Trax's MAP sensor detects insufficient pressure in the intake manifold. Various factors like turbocharging, throttle input, engine RPM, outside air temperature, and barometric pressure can affect intake pressures. The "check engine" light will come on to alert the owner. Replacing the injector control sensor typically costs between $250 and $300 for parts and labor, while replacing the turbocharger can range from $1,200 to $1,500 including materials and labor.
The Chevy Trax's code p0299 suggests that the PCM/ECM has detected that the single turbocharger or supercharger in bank "A" is not generating the expected level of boost.
