When the start-stop feature in a Ford Transit malfunctions, it is typically due to issues with the vehicle's electrical system. If the electrical system detects insufficient reserve capacity in the battery, the start-stop function will be disabled to prevent you from being stranded. Another possible cause of the system not working is a computer malfunction. This can prevent the vehicle from recognizing when it is stopped, leading to the engine remaining running. While start-stop systems can lower fuel consumption in your van, various issues may arise that affect their consistent operation.
If the stop-start feature isn't functioning on a Ford Transit model, a potential solution is to reset the system by disconnecting the battery for five minutes and then reconnecting it.
That response is incorrect.
Have you attempted accessing the transit battery, particularly on the newer vans? It is located beneath the driver's seat and can be quite challenging to reach.
I have just been informed by Ford that they have decided to eliminate the start stop feature in their vehicles. This news came to me as I've been waiting for a year for my car to arrive at the dealership, where I was asked to sign a document acknowledging the removal of the start stop function. I'm disappointed by this change because I really liked the start stop feature. According to the information provided by Ford, using the start stop function resulted in a half-liter per 100km better fuel economy (7.5 Liters with start stop vs 8.0 Liters without), and lower Co2 emissions of 198g/km compared to 210g/km without the feature. While these differences may seem small, they do make a difference in the long run, don't they?
I purchased a new 2020 Transit Custom, and during the 72-month timeframe, the stop-start feature only functioned for 8 months.
