To address the issue of reverse lights not functioning on a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500, the likely culprit is a burnt-out bulb. To inspect or change the reverse bulb, the tail light assembly needs to be removed. This can be done by unscrewing the two torx head screws holding the assembly in place after lowering the tailgate. Then, gently pull the taillight assembly away from the truck on both sides to access the reverse light located at the bottom. Twist the bulb counterclockwise about 1/4 of a turn to remove it from the assembly, replace it with a new one, and secure it back in the socket.
The brake lights on a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 might not function due to different factors, like a busted or burnt bulb, a malfunctioning fuse, defective wiring, or a damaged switch for the reverse light.
