This technology shuts off the engine when the car stops and idles for a few seconds, automatically restarting when the accelerator is pressed. Unlike cold starts, stop-start systems pose less risk to the engine since it operates at normal temperature and utilizes electric water pumps to regulate engine temperature during stops.
