The 2017 Chevy Colorado comes with remote start as a standard feature for ZR2 and Z71 models. This feature not only provides convenience but also helps in maintaining the mechanical components of the Colorado. In cold weather, remote start allows the vehicle to warm up to operating temperatures and ensures that the engine oil is sufficiently warm to protect moving parts from warping. To use remote start on the Colorado, press and release the lock button on the key fob, then hold down the semi-circle button until the turn signal lights flash. The vehicle will run for 10 minutes before automatically turning off. To stop the engine remotely, press the semi-circle button again.
If you're buying a pre-owned Colorado and looking to add remote start, it's important to know the trim level of the vehicle. Remote start is not included with all Colorado models. It's standard on the Z71 and available as an option on the LT. The WT and base model do not come with factory remote start. If you end up with a used Colorado without remote start, you can always get an aftermarket kit.
