The Ford company is recalling more than 1 million Ford Focus vehicles with either the 2.0 liter GDi or 2.0-liter GTDI engines due to a defective canister purge valve that was not closing properly. This issue was identified by a fault code P1450, which could lead to increased vacuum pressure and potential overheating of the plastic fuel tank. Drivers may notice warning lights, erratic fuel gauge readings, stalling of the vehicle, and difficulty restarting it. Dealerships are addressing the problem by reprogramming the powertrain control module to detect and prevent the valve from remaining open.
My check engine light turned on, so I took it to get diagnosed. The code that came up was P1450, indicating a problem with the fuel tank's vacuum not being able to build up. What does this mean and what should I do next? Thank you.
Is Ford offering free replacement of P1450 parts under a recall?
Has the recall for 2023 year been issued yet?
I heard that it's a vacuum purge valve, and it should only take about 15 minutes to replace. However, I was informed that there is a recall on the part, so I plan to have the dealership take care of it for me.
Ford is recalling certain models of their Ford Focus because the canister purge valve is remaining open, leading to excessive vacuum and potential overheating of the plastic fuel tank.
I recently got my Focus fixed at the place where I bought it, and it set me back $435! Is it possible to get a refund for this from a Ford dealership?
I checked with the dealership, but they confirmed that there was no recall for the issue with code P1450.
