Since the 2019 model year, the US government has mandated that every new car must have a backup camera. However, these cameras used to be less common. Fortunately, the 2017 Chevrolet Impala was quite innovative, as it provided a rear backup camera as standard across all trim levels, from the basic to the top-tier Premier. This wasn't the case just a year prior in 2016 when the Impala only had the backup camera as an optional feature or standard on the higher trim levels 1LT and 2LT. Personally, I believe it's beneficial that backup cameras are now included in all new cars. They are essential safety features that can help prevent many avoidable accidents.

    I own a 2017 Chevy Impala LT without a rear-view camera.

Nick B's statement wasn't accurate. In 2016, the manufacturer provided backup cameras as an option on all trim levels, but it wasn't available on every trim level that year. Even though I have a 2017 LT with many features, it doesn't come with a backup camera. It wasn't until 2019 that all manufacturers made backup cameras a standard safety requirement on all models. Some people may not grasp the difference between "offered" or "optional" versus "standard," "required," and "mandatory" safety features. Can anyone confirm if my 2017 model can receive software updates through a WiFi connection, or does it have to be done via USB or OBD2 scanners? Thanks.

My 2017 Chevy Impala LS does not have a backup camera installed, despite the fact that all trim levels of the Impala come equipped with one. It's clear that the manufacturers recognized the value of this feature.

Certainly! The 2017 Chevy Impala is equipped with a rearview camera.

Reversing a vehicle is often considered one of the trickiest and riskiest maneuvers on the road. Many drivers struggle with this task and find it nerve-wracking. Fortunately, the inclusion of back-up cameras has significantly eased the complexity of this action and improved the confidence of customers. The Impala boasts a back-up camera as a standard feature across all its trim levels, a clear indication that the makers recognized its value.
