Depending on the model year of your Ford Expedition, there are different engine options available. Before 2014, starting from 1996, it came standard with a V8. However, from 2015 onwards, Ford switched to a smaller 3.5L EcoBoost V6. Previously, when Ford used a V8, it was their Triton 2, coming in either a 4.6L or 5.4L SOHC configuration. The 4.6L engines had a maximum output of 240 hp and 291 lb-ft of torque, while the 5.4L engine could reach 260 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. These engines were paired with 4-speed automatic transmissions, along with a 2-speed BorgWarner and a transfer case for 4x4 models.

Exploration is limited to v6 engines. Recently, I let go of my 2006 King Ranch V8 Expedition. I've been a loyal Ford owner since high school when I had my 1979 F 150. I still have my 2014 F250 and 1997 F Super Duty trucks. While I've had a few Fords over the years, I couldn't find the Ford SUV I wanted, so I reluctantly bought a GMC Denali Yukon. It's the first non-Ford vehicle I've ever owned or purchased. I must admit, I've been pleasantly surprised with the GMC's performance so far.

I'm loving the new Expedition, but I really wish I could have a V8 engine in it. I'll have to explore the Chevrolet and GMC models to find that V8 power.

I've opted for a different brand because Ford doesn't offer an Expedition with a V8 engine.

I can't find a 2023 Ford Expedition Max with a powerful V8 engine and over 550 horsepower that suits my family of six for our medium to long road trips, complete with all the advanced safety features on offer. Can you help me with that?

The Ford Expedition used to come with a V8 engine from 1997 to 2015, but now it is powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine.
