Ford's 2016 models, like the Explorer, all either come equipped with or can support the Sync 3 software. If your vehicle has an older version, upgrading is a process that involves transferring the new firmware files from your computer to your car using a USB drive after using Ford's software toolkit to apply the update. Alternatively, you can have a dealership perform the update wirelessly. Be aware that you will need an Android phone with OS version 5 or higher, and you must be able to install Google's software on it. Some mobile carriers restrict the OS with their own software, so make sure to verify this as well.
