The 2018 BMW X5 does not have a remote start feature as a standard option, which may disappoint some because luxury brands like BMW are expected to include this basic feature. However, BMW now offers a remote start system that can be added to newer models of the X5. The system itself costs around $525 if you use an existing key, or closer to $900 if you want an extra key. Installation labor costs extra, but it could be worth it for those in colder areas who want to get into a warm car in the morning.
Unfortunately, the 2018 BMW X5 does not have remote start included, but there was an option to have it added later through a retrofit. The retrofit allows the use of the original key fob, eliminating the need to carry an additional device. However, the BMW Connected Drive app for the 2018 model does not currently support remote start via smartphone, so that feature remains unavailable.
