To recalibrate the transmission on a Ford Focus, first turn the key to the second position to light up the dashboard. Step on the gas pedal completely and hold it for a few seconds. Then, turn the key to the OFF position and release the gas pedal. Wait for 2 minutes before starting the car and driving off. The quick learning process will happen while driving at different speeds, allowing the transmission to relearn the clutch thickness values (CVI numbers) for smoother shifting. This relearning typically only takes about 30 seconds for the computer to adjust its settings.

Hello, I'm wondering why Ford dealerships are charging $235 for TCM programming if this is the case.

Place the ignition in the second position and step on the gas pedal. Allow a brief pause and then switch the ignition off before letting go of the gas pedal. Wait for about two minutes before starting the car.

I watched a YouTube tutorial that instructed me to press the brake instead of the gas pedal, shift to "S," and then to neutral. The display showed 'transmission reset for a 2012 model.'

Not all Ford Focus vehicles are equipped with traditional keys. I have an electric model, which requires me to remove my foot from the gas pedal in order to turn the car off. Otherwise, pressing the button will start the car?

I recently had maintenance done on my transmission, and a code E appeared. I replaced the necessary part, but the error code light is still showing up.

After dealing with my 2017 Focus's rough shifting for three years, I came across a fix that I was skeptical about but decided to try. Surprisingly, since doing it three days ago, the shifting has been smooth and quiet. I'm cautiously optimistic that it will continue to improve. If it does, I'm grateful to have found a solution. I'll provide an update in a couple of weeks. Pleasantly surprised in Denver!

Amber, your electric car doesn't require a transmission.

I have a 2003 Ford Focus that I am working on improving, but my transmission light keeps coming on with error code E even after I have serviced it and replaced the necessary part.

I attempted the method of turning the ignition key from On to Neutral, waited for 20 seconds, etc. on my 2008 Ford Fusion, but it didn't reset anything, it had no effect. Does anyone have any other suggestions for my 08 Ford Fusion? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I recently spent $3500 on getting the transmission rebuilt, and the mechanics are now pointing to the TCM as the issue. I'm planning to try getting one from a salvage yard to see if that resolves the problem if I don't receive any advice from you kind individuals. Thank you all in advance. Feeling frustrated in Oklahoma.

I followed your advice and I am amazed. I recently spent $1600 on getting a new clutch and tuning forks installed, and everything was going well. But suddenly, the issues resurfaced. I followed your recommendations, and so far, it has been working wonderfully. Thank you all very much!

I tested it on a 2011 diesel, but nothing happened. It's as if my transmission just completely stopped working and I can't shift into any gears.

I recently experienced severe jerking and hesitation in my 2014 Ford Focus SE sedan with a dual power automatic transmission. The dealership diagnosed the issue as needing to replace the clutch forks and clutch, which unfortunately are not covered by the extended warranty. The quoted price to fix it is $3500, which seems excessive. I attempted to reset the system after watching a YouTube tutorial, but my check engine light is still on, so I haven't risked driving it yet. I purchased this car in 2017 with only 17,000 miles, and now it has 83,000 miles. It's concerning that this problem has occurred, and I feel uneasy about driving it now as I worry it could pose a safety risk.

The 2015 Ford Focus is not worth your money, so avoid purchasing this car as it seems like a scam.

The warning light for a transmission issue turned on in my 2016 Ford Focus. As a result, the car is unable to shift into any gear other than drive.

I own a 2003 Ford Focus that I've been restoring. I recently had the transmission serviced, and it showed a code E. I replaced the part related to the code, but the warning light continues to turn on with the same code E.

This is fantastic and working really well so far. I hope it continues to be perfect and lasts.
