The 2016 Chevy Impala is designed to accommodate 6 quarts of oil in the engine when the pan is empty. It is recommended to use ACDelco dexos1 Synthetic Blend oil with a viscosity grade of SAE 5W-30. However, a suitable alternative can be used as long as it meets the dexos1 standard and has the same viscosity grade. The Impala is equipped with an engine oil life monitoring system that keeps track of various engine activities to determine when an oil change is necessary. The system will indicate the percentage of oil life remaining until it's time for an oil change. If the oil change light illuminates on the driver's display, it is advisable to schedule an oil change within the next 250 miles or so.
