In 2012, a Volkswagen Touareg with a 3.0L CATA diesel turbo engine in the TDI version needs 8.3 liters of synthetic 5W-30 oil. Make sure to use oil specified for European vehicles if you're outside of Europe. If you're in Europe, regular oil will do. The oil drain plug is a 16mm and needs 22 ft-lbs of torque to remove it.
