To remove the alternator from the Ford Transit Mk6, first, locate the alternator and disconnect the plastic wire plug and the 10mm nut securing the battery wire. Loosen the bolts with a 13mm socket, starting with the bottom two (remember to catch the spacer that may fall out). Keep the top bolt in but loose. Proceed to the steering rack and loosen the lower pinch bolt with a 13mm socket or spanner. Remove the nut using a drift/nail. Once that's done, gently separate the joint with a hammer. Move the steering shaft as needed. Then, remove the top alternator bolt and take the alternator out of the engine. Guide the alternator toward the passenger seat and the steering rack toward the driver's side. The alternator will pass over the exhaust and exit by the fuel tank.
