In the Hyundai Elantra, the passenger airbag can't be manually turned off - it's activated by a sensor that detects when a passenger is present in the vehicle. These sensors are linked to the right-hand seat and seatbelt. If the seat is empty and only the driver is in the car, the Elantra disables the right-hand airbags automatically, showing an orange message on the dash. However, when a passenger enters, the airbags will switch back on instantly. Safety is a top priority for the Elantra, which is equipped with a total of 7 airbags - 6 in the front and sides, plus one to protect the driver's knees.
There is a toggle switch located in the glove compartment of the Hyundai Elantra. This switch is used to activate or deactivate the passenger side glove box.
