When the oil light illuminates in your 2014 Volkswagen Passat, it signals that the oil is close to needing a replacement due to expiring its protection lifespan. After changing the oil, you must reset the internal counter and turn off the light. To do this, start with the ignition off. Press and hold the 0.0/Set button, then turn the ignition on without starting the engine. Continue to hold the 0.0/Set button and use your left hand to press the gauge display button beside the steering wheel. Finally, turn off the ignition, and you're all set.
To reset the oil on a 2014 VW Passat, make sure the car is on but the engine is not running. Locate the reset button on the dashboard console and press and hold it. Once the light flashes and then goes off, turn off the vehicle and wait for 5 minutes. Your oil has been successfully reset.
