The 2011 Chevy Traverse comes with a transmission filter situated in the transmission oil pan at the bottom of the car. To replace the filter, you have to first drain the transmission fluid and then remove the pan. It is typically recommended to replace the filter during a full transmission inspection, which is recommended every 100,000 miles as accessing the filter can be challenging. If you find the transmission fluid to be metallic or reflective when checking, it is a clear indicator that a transmission service, including a filter replacement, is needed.
I attempted to purchase the filter but Advance Auto said it should be installed by a professional.
The filter in these 6T75 (1HAK) transmissions can only be replaced by removing the transmission and taking it apart. Trust me, I learned this the hard way. There's no way to access it without a non-existent oil pan.
