To engage overdrive in your Toyota Corolla, simply press the O/D button located on the left side of the gear selector. This feature is especially useful for high-speed freeway driving, as it activates an extended gear to reduce engine RPMs and potentially save fuel. If you prefer not to utilize overdrive, you can deactivate it to maintain the fifth gear, though this may result in increased noise and higher engine RPMs.
I've got a 2009 Toyota Corolla and there's no button on the side of the shifter. What should I do?
In your Toyota Corolla, you can find the overdrive (o/d) button on the left side of the shifter. To activate overdrive, simply press this button. If you need to deactivate it, just press the button again.
