Changing the door code on a Ford Escape can be easily done once you have the process down. Start by locating the factory code that originally came with the vehicle, usually found on a decal in the back of the owner's manual. Input the factory code at the keypad, then press the 1 key on the door. Quickly enter your desired new five-digit code, followed by pressing the number 1. The doors will lock, indicating that the new code has been successfully set.
To update the door code on a Ford Escape, start by typing in the pre-set 5-digit code on the keypad near the driver's door handle. After that, type in the number 1, followed by your chosen new 5-digit code for the door. Finally, type in the number 1 again and wait for the doors to lock. If the locking sound doesn't happen, repeat the process. Once done, you can use both the new code and the original code to lock and unlock your car without a key. Consult your owner's manual to confirm the default door code or find it on the fuse box on the passenger side.
