The auto start-stop feature on the Toyota Highlander helps cut down on emissions and save on gas by turning off the engine when the vehicle stops or is idle. It turns back on once the brake pedal is released. This function can be turned off by pressing the Auto Start-Stop button near the steering wheel. If the system detects low battery levels or very high temperatures, it automatically disables itself. A light will indicate when the feature is turned off, and it can easily be reactivated by pressing the button once more.
To deactivate the start-stop function in a Toyota Highlander, just push the button located to the left of the steering wheel that controls it.
