If the immobilizer is activated on your 2002 Nissan Altima, follow these steps to reset the security system: Start by inserting a valid key into the ignition and turning it to the ON position. Try to start the engine, which will fail, but that's fine. Keep the key in the ignition in the run position and wait for around 15 minutes. You will see the security light blink and then turn off. Next, turn off the key but leave it in the ignition, and wait for an additional five seconds. You should now be able to start your Altima properly, with the anti-theft system deactivated.
To reprogram the security system on a 2002 Nissan Altima, insert the key and turn it to the "on" position for 10 minutes. Then, turn the key off, wait five seconds, and finally start the car.
