I understand that you want to reset the immobilizer on your 2002 Dodge Dakota. To do this, make sure all the doors and windows are closed, along with the front hood and rear hatch/trunk. Lock the car using the driver's side lock with your mechanical key, then walk at least ten feet away and wait fifteen minutes. Return to the car, unlock the door with the mechanical key, not the FOB. This process should reset the security system. If you accidentally activated the immobilizer with the panic button on your key FOB, simply hold the button for 5 seconds to reset it.

To reset the alarm on a 2002 Dodge Dakota, start by locking all the doors. Then, unlock the driver's side door and insert the key into the on position. Turn the key off and on twice to reset the alarm.

So, my engine's second cylinder lost compression, forcing me to swap out the engine, which involved taking off the hood. I had to use my garage for another repair, so I ended up moving my Dodge out by hand. When I was ready to put the Dodge back in the garage, the car alarm went off and the engine wouldn't start. After trying online solutions without luck, I was just about ready to give up and scrap it. However, I tried one more thing. I put the hood back on and disconnected the horn, then locked all the doors except for the driver's door. After shutting and locking the driver's door with the original key, then unlocking it, the alarm stopped and the Dodge started right up. It's a 2002 Dodge Dakota quad cab, and I haven't had any issues since. Maybe it was just luck, but I hope this trick helps someone else out.
