If your Chevy Volt's screen is frozen, the first step is to try turning off the vehicle for a few minutes and letting it sit. If that doesn't fix the issue, you can attempt disconnecting the battery and keeping it off for 10 minutes before reconnecting it. This process will help clear the system's memory, which may resolve the problem. If these steps don't work, you probably have a faulty screen that needs replacing. A new screen can range from $300 to $500, excluding installation costs if you require assistance with that.
Don't forget, the Volt is more than just a car - it's like a computer on wheels. So, if any issues arise, approach them from a tech mindset rather than a mechanical one. For instance, when the center console in my 2014 Volt stopped working, I simply parked and waited for about 20 minutes until all the automatic features turned off. After restarting the Volt, the computer rebooted and everything functioned normally once more.
To reboot the display on a Chevy Volt, you should unplug the 12-volt battery for a duration of 10 minutes.
I had a black infotainment screen, but I was able to fix it by removing and reinserting the fuses connected to the infotainment system. This resolved the problem, and now it's working properly again. Interestingly, despite the screen being black, my rear backup camera still functioned, indicating that the issue wasn't with the screen itself.
