If you're experiencing difficulty with the anti-theft system activating while using the correct key, you can reset your vehicle to its original settings by trying a battery trick. Begin by disconnecting the positive battery cable, then go inside your vehicle and insert the key in the ignition. Turn the key to the on position, return outside to reconnect the battery cable, and then go back inside to power up the vehicle once more. Your vehicle should now be reset to its factory settings.
I attempted that, but it was unsuccessful.
To reset the anti-theft system on a 2002 Ford Escape, start by disconnecting the positive battery cable. Next, insert the key into the car and turn it to the "on" position. After that, reconnect the positive cable, switch the key off, and then back on again.
