If the transfer case in your Dodge Durango is malfunctioning and you don't anticipate needing four-wheel drive in the near future, you have the option to disconnect it. While this won't fix the underlying issues in the transfer case, it can prevent you from encountering them on a daily basis. To disconnect the transfer case, you can choose one of two methods. The first method involves removing the fuse for the transfer case controller from the fuse panel located in the engine compartment. The second method is to unplug the wiring harness directly attached to the transfer case and secure it with tape. Either approach will effectively disconnect the transfer case from the computer system.

I took out fuse 77 from my 2014 Dodge Durango Limited, but the transfer case is still making clunking and popping noises when I accelerate normally. I can't find a replacement transfer case with the part number 52123725AD online. I'm thinking of either unplugging the wiring harness or removing the actuator and switching to 2-wheel drive, then unplugging the harness. What do you suggest I do to address this issue?
