To disable the stop-start feature on the FIAT 500, you have a couple of options. Some models have a designated button on the dashboard labeled stop/start, eco, or ESS. Simply press this button, and the feature will be deactivated. For older models without this button, you will need to remove the fuse from the system. Locate the fuse box to the left of the steering wheel by inspecting the dash for a small seam or crack. Use a screwdriver or prybar to open the panel and access the fuses inside. Refer to the diagram on the back of the panel or consult the owner's manual to identify the right fuse. Remove the fuse by pulling it out - if the thin metal strip connecting the two sections is intact, you can reinsert the fuse; otherwise, it needs replacement. Replacement fuses are inexpensive, typically costing around $10.
