Regrettably, there is no permanent solution available to deactivate the auto start-stop feature in a Buick Enclave. One temporary method involves starting the vehicle, opening and then closing the hood, which tricks the car's ECU to keep the engine running. Alternatively, there are third-party tools that can be plugged into the OBD II port to simulate the hood being open. General Motors (GM) has chosen to have the auto start-stop functionality permanently activated in all their vehicles as it can contribute to improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
I don't care for Buick or GM! If I wanted to be more fuel-efficient, I would have purchased a smaller SUV instead.
Buick Manufactures is striving to make a push-button system that is easily removable, but it never fully deactivates. You'll need to press the button each time you start the engine.
GM has made a decision to keep the auto start-stop feature activated in their vehicles at all times since it can improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. However, things might get tricky if you need to replace the starter!
I crunched the numbers and found that, typically, using this method doesn't actually save any fuel at all. Instead, it just ends up wearing out the costly starter and really gets on the driver's nerves.
Or until a situation arises where you must swiftly change lanes to avoid a potential collision with another vehicle.
I'm getting ready to purchase a 2021 Enclave and I acquired a stop/start eliminator cord. Can anyone confirm if this will be effective, or should I consider spending an additional $10,000 on a 2022 model that has a dedicated button to disable it?
I just purchased a 2018 Enclave. While there is one feature that annoys me, I absolutely adore my Enclave. I wouldn't give it up because it provides a very comfortable and stylish driving experience.
What a terrible feature to install on a car! Who came up with this idea? I hope FORD never considers this! If it's meant to improve fuel efficiency, they should focus on developing a better engine and strategy!
I got a 2020 Enclave over the summer, but I didn't realize it had an auto-off function until months later when I wasn't using the A/C. If I had known about this feature beforehand, I would not have purchased the car. It's incredibly irritating!
With the automatic start/stop feature and the electronic shifter, I can't decide which aspect is making my 2021 Enclave less appealing compared to the 2015 model that we adored.
Looks like we'll need to opt for a different make of car.
I have a 2014 Buick Enclave that I really enjoy, but I'm thinking about upgrading to a newer model. However, I recently found out about the stop-and-go system, which I'm not a fan of. So, I'll be searching for a car that doesn't have that feature.
I released the brake and then promptly pressed it again. The vehicle remains idling smoothly until the traffic eases up, or the traffic signal changes.
So you save $50 on gas only to spend $300 on a new battery. Who came up with this brilliant idea?
In my 2020 Enclave, there's no button to turn off the auto start/stop feature. So, I shift the transmission to manual mode and use the steering wheel paddle to go to the highest gear, which is 9 in my car. This action disables the auto start/stop function, but you need to repeat this process each time you shift to drive. It might seem like a hassle at first, but you'll get used to it, and it prevents that irritating Start/Stop feature from kicking in.
I own a Chevy Equinox that comes with a button to turn off. I love that I can start it, press the button, and avoid any annoying restarts. My Equinox is fantastic.
I simply cranked up the air conditioning in Florida without realizing it had the auto stop/start feature. I'll definitely ask my friend who's good with computers to make some adjustments. 😄 Enclave 2018!
I was just about to make a purchase, but not anymore!
This marks the start of the downfall for Auto companies, as they believe they know what's best for us. It's the first car I've ever been in that can't be easily controlled with just a button!
