To clear the maintenance light on the 2004 Toyota 4Runner, first make sure the vehicle is parked with all doors closed. Turn the key to the ON position without starting the engine. If your SUV has a push-to-start button, press it twice without pressing the brake pedal as you would when starting the vehicle. Find the ODOMETER/TRIP button on the instrument cluster and press it until TRIP A appears. Turn the ignition off or press the start button once. Press the ODOMETER/TRIP button again. While holding it down, turn the ignition back to ON or press the start button twice. Continue holding the button, and you should see "000000" on the display, indicating the reset is complete. The light should now turn off. Turn the ignition off and start the engine to confirm that the reset was successful.
