To exit limp mode on a Dodge Caravan, follow these steps: First, come to a complete stop and shift your automatic transmission to Park. Turn off the ignition key and wait for 10 seconds before restarting the vehicle. Limp mode, also known as 'limp home mode', is a safety feature in vehicles that activates when the engine or transmission control unit detects a fault. This mode will disable non-essential functions like air conditioning and limit the car's speed. It is designed to prevent further damage and enable you to drive to a service center for repairs. If feasible, drive directly to a service center for assistance.

In 1999, my vehicle experienced an issue where metal particles were blocking the signal due to magnets in the two sensors atop the transmission, under the battery tray. I removed and cleaned the sensors, which resolved the problem. If the issue persists, one of the sensors might be faulty. Using a 1-inch socket to remove them, no fluid leaked out since the sensors were located high up on the transmission.
