To reset the anti-theft system in the 2002 Ford Explorer, ensure your battery is fully charged and set aside 10 to 30 minutes for the process. Begin by turning the key in the ignition as if you were starting the engine; the engine won't start due to the activated anti-theft system. Allow the key to return to the ON position so that the dashboard lights and radio work. Keep the key in this position for at least 10 minutes. If the light goes off, turn the ignition completely off for a few minutes before trying to start the vehicle again. If it starts successfully, the reset is complete. If the light remains on or the vehicle doesn't start, repeat the process.
