The Mitsubishi utilizes a timing chain instead of a belt, which is meant to last the entire lifespan of the vehicle if all goes well. However, it can still become damaged or fail, leading to immediate overheating of the car. Replacing it would cost around $100 for the part and an additional $100 for labor. When purchasing online, be careful as some retailers may incorrectly refer to both a timing chain and a timing belt as a cam belt. Using a timing belt instead will not work and leave you with a useless part.
