In this Mitsubishi RVR, it uses a timing chain instead of a belt. A timing chain is built to last the entire lifespan of the vehicle, so if all goes smoothly, you shouldn't have to worry about it. However, it can still get damaged or fail in certain situations. If this occurs, you'll quickly notice the car overheating. Replacing it will cost around $100 for the new part and another $100 for labor. When buying a replacement chain online, be careful, as some sellers might mistakenly label both a timing chain and a timing belt as a cam belt. Using a timing belt won't work and could leave you with a useless part.
