In the 2019 Toyota Camry, the ECVT (electronically controlled variable transmission) functions differently from a regular CVT by using an electronically controlled motor instead of belts or chains to shift gears quickly. This results in faster and more frequent gear shifts, allowing the car to maintain the correct RPM range for more power and efficiency. As a result, the ECVT helps to save gas and reduce wear and tear on the vehicle.
In the 2019 Camry, Toyota has introduced a modified transmission system named ECT-i (Electronically Controlled automatic Transmission with intelligence) that is different from a typical CVT.
