The 2005 Nissan Maxima uses a traditional transmission instead of a CVT. It's recommended to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles to prevent issues. When the fluid is old, the transmission may produce unpleasant noises. A failing torque converter can lead to problems. The transmission is a vital component of the car, and problems are inevitable at some point. Delayed gear shifts can cause acceleration difficulties, slipping gears, shuddering, hard shifting, jerking, or even gears getting stuck. Any leaks in the transmission fluid should be addressed promptly to prevent further damage.
Nissan did not offer the Maxima with a CVT transmission choice until 2007. Therefore, the 2005 Nissan Maxima does not provide the option of a CVT transmission. Instead, during that year, it was available with a 6-speed manual transmission, a 4-speed automatic, or a 5-speed automatic transmission.
