On BMW cars, error code P2745 indicates a problem with the intermediate shaft speed sensor B circuit. This code is triggered by the engine control module (ECM) when it detects that this particular component is not functioning correctly. Described as being of moderate to severe severity, it is advisable to address this issue promptly. Symptoms that may accompany this code include rough gear changes, irregular engine speed, and overall degraded vehicle performance. The primary cause of the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is typically a faulty or damaged intermediate shaft speed sensor, although less commonly, the issue may also stem from a wiring fault (such as short circuits or damage) between the speed sensor and the ECM. In most cases, replacing the intermediate shaft speed sensor is necessary to resolve the problem.
In a BMW, trouble code P2745 points to a problem with the misfiring of an engine cylinder.
