The Honda Odyssey 31-2 code is also known as ODB-II code P1676, indicating a failure in the ENGINE r****d COMMAND (PFINH) SIGNAL. Often, an additional diagnostic trouble code (DTC) may be thrown, such as P0740, which points to a problem in the LOCK-UP CONTROL SYSTEM. The 31-2 code can be caused by various issues ranging from a faulty ignition switch or speed sensor to a defective PCM, resulting in a signal problem with ignition timing in failsafe engine mode. If the warning light is intermittent upon starting the car, it is likely due to poor connections or loose wires at the ABC/TCS control unit. To reset, disconnect the negative battery cable if a scanner unit is not available, then conduct further diagnostics on the wiring harness. As for the P0740 code, it is linked to the solenoid valve and requires a more detailed troubleshooting process; however, if this code is paired with P1676, it can help narrow down the source of the issue.
Failure of the tenth command signal is shown as code 312 on the Honda Odyssey.
