In a BMW, if you see the fault code 40e9, it means there's an issue with the exhaust-gas recirculation controller. To access diagnostic codes, you'll require an OBD diagnostic tool that you connect to the OBD port. This port is situated inside the vehicle, under the dashboard on the driver's side footwell. The exhaust gas recirculation system helps regulate Nitrous emission in diesel engines by reducing oxygen levels in the combustion chamber. To replace the EGR valve, it may cost around $30 to $60, depending on whether it's an original part or an aftermarket one.
If your BMW shows a 40E9 code, it indicates a problem with the exhaust gas recirculation controller or position control.
