There are a few possible meanings for the CF33 code in your BMW. These include: a lack of messages from the engine control unit, an error that won't trigger a warning light, the error not currently being present, completion of test conditions, and a timeout issue. All of these relate to the onboard computer rather than the mechanical systems. The code might be triggered by a weak battery or discharge. However, there is a service bulletin from BMW, SI B24 10 07, addressing this issue. An underlying software problem can also cause the code to appear, leading to the transmission being in Failsafe mode with EGS Fault CF33 Storage. This problem mainly affects BMWs from 2006 to 2007. If you come across this issue, you will need to visit the dealer to have it resolved, as the bulletin states that this fault entry cannot be cleared on your own.
The BMW code CF33 indicates an issue with the EGS, as there is no communication from the engine management system.
