very overpriced and you better plan on being there all day. I had a tire air pressure problem with my spare tire. It cost $199 to replace the sensor. took them 2 hrs and 20 min to fix it.$93 labor to basically changing a valve stem. They did have to program it. $11 to throw the old one away. I had just got $750 worth of work on my truck a few days earlier. I am done with these folks. Goodby Mike Johnson Toyota. The prices are to high and I can't stay all day.

I grew up/lived in the Morganton, NC area. The general consensus has been you have to travel to Charlotte to get a descent deal. I shopped 4 Toyota dealers total, from Boone to South Carolina. My first contact was with the internet manager Chris Impson. I was initially shopping for a different brand of truck and settled on Toyota because of this dealership. Chris took the time to facetime me and show me the features of the Tundra. I have never had a car dealership to this point take the time to show their product and propose the deal they could offer to this extent. This was a simple phone call I placed to internet sells and I could tell Chris's intent was to sell me a Toyota. As everyone knows the salesman you deal with may be off work when additional contact are made at the dealership (nature of the beast). The second thing that I was impressed with: Chris handed my information off to Josh Carpenter and nothing had to be repeated. They obviously took the time to communicate and work as a team, and not concern themselves with who made the sell but to ultimately get the sell. Long story short we worked a deal on a 2016. The 2016 Tundras were all sold in the South East with the options I wanted. I was bummed, the price was right, but no 2016 trucks to buy. I emailed Andy Lawhon and expressed my interest in a similar deal on the 2017 models. Andy emailed me back immediately and had a salesman call me. They instantly went to work on a price point we both could live with on an available 2017. The truck was found, the price was right.... I am driving a Toyota My overall impression of this dealership is that everyone that I dealt with had one goal: To sell vehicles. Non of the cliche car dealership stuff, just professionals that treated me the way they would want to be treated while buying a car. No selfishness, with salesman trying to steal deals from other salesmen, that I have seen at other dealerships. My best car buying experience to date, and I thought it would be unfair to be treated so well and not write a review. Best of all I was able to buy in Hickory and drove 12 mins not over an hour.

I just recently went in for my 5000 mile service for my Tacoma. My appointment was with Trever Brown at 2 pm. I arrived early about 1:15 and they took me in as soon as I pulled in. Thinking in my mind that this is going to take awhile, I was amazed at the fact that I heard someone behind me call my name while I was looking at some accessories and low and behold it was Trever telling me that I was ready to go............ Was out of there at 1:47. 13 minutes before I was even supposed to be there. That is service. So glad I chose Mike Johnsons to buy my truck and My Wife's car there. Great Team and friendly service, can't beat it.

I have never been to this toyota shop here in hickory even though I have lived here for 16 years. So my dad decided he wanted to buy a truck and instead of going to Charlotte like we usually do we went to hickory. Well they didn't have the truck we wanted they said they would get it delivered asap and for us to come back the next day finalize paperwork after we down 500 first. Ok we agreed paid 500 down thinking they would hurry and get the truck here first thing in the morning as we left at 1 pm and clearly letting them know we need here and done b4 2pm as we work!! Next day we go the truck is not there yet they said it won't b there till 2pm they didn't bother to call and inform us beforehand not to come or what the situation was so we wouldn't waste our time...we were highly upset as we were gonna down 10g so we can prepared to make a transaction and sign the deal but they were unprofessional and did not keep their words. We asked for 500 deposit back as they did NOT deliver as promised! They refused! Told me it was nonrefundable! Blah blah blah argued back n forth finally I asked to bring me proof that the 500 is not refundable! As we never were asked to sign anything tying us to this deal and stating the 500 was non refundable I knew they were talking b.s. and lying straight to my face. Gm Andy comes all cocky as rude as they all r says the same b.s. the sales manager n sales consultant says...we agreed to come back the next day AGAIN as I was tired of repeating myself and being lied to straight to my face n bcuz my dad liked the truck. Livid and angry we left. Came back for the third day!!! FINALLY truck,is here inspection etc done....we sign paperwork etc I expressed my opionions to the GM Andy he didn't seem to care just brushed off n left and acted rude and unprofessional like everyone else I dealt with. I advised GM Andy to retrain his employees on customer service as they have none and their rude comments to always have the last word also they need to wear name tags as I didn't even know the names of the people I was talking to and it made them look very unprofessional. His response was "oh we don't wear it because it's annoying and we don't Like it" I said well u should it looks better that way so I can put a name,to a face! Like I said this was my first time here at hickory toyota and this will for sure be the last!! I would rather travel to Charlotte for better treatment. Never once did any of the people we spoke to smiled at us...their faces were always frowned and mad making us feel very unwelcomed!!!!!!

I lived in this Area for more than 20 yrs. Had 5 toyotas, 3 of them came from a different dealership. Unfortunately Mike Johnsons General Manager (Andy) is to worry about $$$ and no customer skills. They don't know how to value a customer, all they care about $$$ ( massages, cafe, nail tech ) while us females wait for hours on 15 min oil change. Only to try to push a new car !Very disappointed as a female on the poor treatment from the General Manager. Sometimes when you deal with the public you need to be professional and control whatever kind of day you had. No excuses for poor treatment to a paying customer who is trying to close a new car deal.Had to walk away and went to Mazda of Hickory. Amazing people! Not "pushy" at all. Very nice and refreshing to know that a "smaller" dealership cares more about the people and not only the $$$

This was my first visit to MJ Toyota after buying a 2016 Tacoma. This was the 5000 mile service. It was fast in, plenty of seating in the waiting room and the message board stating the status of your car was nice. My only complaint (the reason I gave it 4 stars ) was it took a little over an hour for the oil change and tire rotation. Normally I would not have minded, but my wife an I had another appointment which made us late.

Are you kidding me?! I have NEVER EVER had bad service or even unsatisfactory treatment at any Toyota Dealership, and Mike Johnson's is no different. Under promise and over deliver all day everyday. I came in for my 15000 maintenance and they told me it was going to take an hour. That's cool, I brought my laptop in to get some work done, grabbed a sofa, sat down....excuse me Mr. L-shizzle, your vehicle is ready. Not even 30 minutes went by and they knocked it out. They even asked me if I needed more time. HA!!! This place is great. I'm definitely going there again.

Customer Service Rep (Scott) is above all the best rep. I bought my 2011 Toyota Camry at Mike Johnson's and for five (5) years had it serviced there. This is the first time we have had Scott as a rep and definitely will request him next time. My husband thought he could get the wheels balanced and the brake pads fixed at a cheaper rate and we were leaving on an out of town trip the next day. When Scott checked, they were not installed correctly and could be a rick on our trip. Thanks to Scott everything was corrected. I will choose him every time.

Very friendly, fast, convenient service! Cody took time to answer all of my questions. The tires were buy 3 and get the 4th for $1, a great deal. My only complaint is that when I arrived home the tire pressures were 5-6 lbs. above the pressure recommended for my vehicle (but well within the tire specifications) and not quite even (about 2 pounds difference). Otherwise I think they did a great job.

Great service and the tech resolved an issue with a part being ordered in 2015 that we were never contacted about and had asked about the last 3 times we had the oil changed. Have a bad rattle in one of the middle seats and he is working toward resolving the issue.

I was a first time car buyer so I was a little hesitant because it was a lot of information to take in. I brought my mother along as someone to ask questions to in case I got confused on anything. I didn't really have to ask her much because everything was explained to me very well and everyone was so helpful. I did have to go back after my purchase to finish up some paperwork that was forgotten, but it was a smooth experience as well and they even filled my car back up with gas since I had to travel back to the dealership!

I took my car in for a normal service. When completed and I got my car back the service department had damaged my car. Everything was taken care of but it took 6 days to get my car back! Very disappointed here lately! I have been coming to this dealership for almost 2 years and here the past few times it seems that they keep messing up things. the wife and were in Hickory, looking at Nissan and Hyundai models. we came by the Hickory Toyota place, Huge! got a gal with high energy told her what we we wanted, then she shows us the ECO model out side, one we didn't want, then a sales manager shows up, the started to put some high pressure moves on us old people , I am 65 , my wife is 63 , I had told them I used to sell new cars before, so I knew the score very well.I politely stopped them with there very High pressure sales , AND WE WALKED AWAY! we wont be going back, EVER!

Derrek Avery took good care of me when purchasing my new Tacoma. He was very kind and not overly pushy. We finally agreed on a price and a deal was made on a truck that did NOT include a tonneau cover for the bed (which was fine with me). I was told my truck would be delivered in about 2 weeks. A day or two later I received a call, I think from a sales manager, can't remember a name, but was told that if I wanted to wait a few more days for a truck, I could have one with 0 miles on it, and it would have a tonneau cover. Due to the fact it had 0 miles and a tonneau cover, I agreed to wait. When my truck was finally delivered, there was no tonneau cover, which wasn't originally negotiated with Derrek, but WAS a feature I was told on the phone the other truck would have and that's why I chose to go with that one. I told Derrek this, and when he asked his manager about it, I was called a liar (not to my face, but I could hear him being yelled at across the room I was sitting in) So I ended up not trying to fight for the tonneau cover. It wasn't Derrek Avery's fault. It wasn't in our original negotiations. BUT...in my opinion, he shouldn't have been yelled at, and I ESPECIALLY don't like being called a liar....EVER ( again, he wasn't calling me a liar to my face, I overheard my salesman being yelled at across the room). If I could remember the gentleman's name that was doing the yelling, I would drop his name here in a heartbeat so that you could all try and avoid him if you purchased through this dealership. The service department at my first 5,000 mile service was smooth, and fast. Trevor took good care of me. The facilities seem pretty nice. They have a cafe that I saw employees getting food and coffee from. I'm not sure if this is a perk for customers or not though. Buy here with confidence, but be wary of being promised things over the phone. Get them in writing.

I had an appointment with the Express Service for a 24 month maintenance .on my 2014 Camry. I was promptly met by Mandy Jenkins, and during the work order write-up she pointed out uneven wear on the left front tire, I requested an alignment be included with the maintenance. I was expecting to have to wait at least an hour, or more, but Mandy was able to get the alignment and maintenance work performed in about a half hour. Good job.

I took my Toyota Camry in for a recall issue. The recall concerned a problem with the engine using excessive oil. The maintenance team changed the oil, did a consumption test, induction cleaning service, and replaces the cabin air filter. Time spent at the dealership was about three hours. Even though that was a long time to wait, Amanda Jenkins kept us aware of what was happening. Thanks to the popcorn, the magazines, and Amanda, the wait time was tolerable. A follow-up visit is planned to determine what will need to be done. Everyone was very helpful and professional.

While on vacation our air conditioner stopped working on our 2005 Sienna XLE. Tried to get the van checked at a Toyota Dealer in the Dayton, OH and was told they were booked for several days. Our plans did not fit their availability. Took the Van to an AAMCO service center. They were able to check the van air conditioner but could not translate the codes to make repairs. Continues on our trip. While in the Muncy area, tried to get the van checked at a Toyota Dealer and was told they would not be able to look at it for a couple of days. Arrived home from our vacation on Sunday June 12. On Monday June 13 I called Mike Johnson Toyota and spoke with Scott. He said I should being the van in asap. Within a short time Scott and the Technicians had diagnosed the problem and pointed out a severe power steering unit problem. Scott provided me with a plan for repairs and a cost estimate. Scott also arranged for a car for me to use while the van was in the shop. Scott indicated the repairs would be completed this afternoon. Received a call from Scott at about 4 PM and he indicated the repairs would be completed and I could pick up the van at 5 PM. When I picked up the Van, Scott indicated that if I was on vacation in the future and had van problems and could not obtain Toyota Service where we were, I should call him and he would try his best to help with my service needs. I CAME IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION. THE SERVICE GUY TOLD ME I NEEDED FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS TURNED. I TOLD HIM I THOUGHT I HAD A COUPON. HE GAVE ME 10% OFF. Please note this is my first complaint about your service. I had a 1:30 appt. to get new tires all around. Only one other car was in the service area besides mine. I complained to a woman after 2 hours. Tabitha came in at some point to let me know my car would soon be ready. At 4:30 Tabitha came to tell me my car was ready. I cannot complain about Tabitha in any way at all. I let her know I was upset but she was very respectful, sweet, and helpful! I don't understand what happened but I do know that it doesn't take 3 hours to get old tires off, new ones on, balancing them, etc.! I will probably never know the truth as to why this happened but I am still upset about being treated this way and will dread going back for service there.

My 2016 Scion IA is the second car I purchased from Mike Johnsons. I went to refinance my car after they had called several times asking me to. Of course after sitting there for hours they "Can't refinance it and can get me in a new car cheaper". They show me this car and told me all the benefits of the new car. The interest rate was perfect and was a better deal money wise verses my Corolla. However they tell you how with a brand new car service is taken care of for x amount of time. There is a sticker in my windshield that states that my first service will be at 5,000 miles. I actually went over that and made an appointment to get my first service. Informed the man over the phone what car I had and the mileage and he made the appointment. I show up after driving 45 minutes to the dealership for the woman to tell me "Oh I don't know why that sticker is on there. It doesn't need serviced until 7,500 miles." Excuse me? I just wasted all that time and gas and had someone watch my child for her to tell me there is nothing they will do. No tire rotation. No nothing. She didnt advise me to get my tires rotated on my own time and money or anything. So much for everything taken care of with a brand new car. If my tires are worn unevenly i will fully expect for Mike Johnsons to buy me new tires. No one knows what they are talking about. No one wants to deal with an issue and acts like you're bothering them. I will not tell anyone to go here. It will be just the opposite.

Had a 110,000 mile service scheduled on my 2003 Echo. I look to Brandon Sigmon as my personal mechanic and he always delivers. Arrived for the 10AM appointment, handed over the key to Brandon along with a concern about a past situation. I sat in the clean waiting area catching up on personal reading, eating popcorn and drinking coffee. In about an hour, everything had been tended to (the additional situation I had mentioned had been investigated further) and I was on my way. My son hit a sign as he fell a sleep driving .Mike Johnson s collision service said they would look it over give a quote. When I call the insurance company they said would send a guy out to look at it well I drove the 2016 Scion I a there but now I can not drive it .as they took it all apart to the fender radiator grill it looks so bad and they told my son they were driving it around the parking lot with out the radiator in it who does this to people's car these r people I trusted to do right as I bought the car new there told my insurents 11,900 to a car I drove for a week before taking it in there was air bags deployed front bumper that need replacing but not 12000 worth of work unless it was someone drove it with out a radiator in it just sickening lost a nice car that's what is a great job is done thank u Toyota !

Made an appointment with Wallace. He had our vehicle ready in the front of the dealership when we arrived. We took our test drive and loved the RAV4 but undecided about the color. Wallace wanted to be sure that we were happy with the color, he brought another RAV in another color to compare side by side. We were then sure we wanted the first one. There was no pressure negotiating our price. The whole experience was excellent and the amenities you get from buying from Mike Johnson is icing on the cake. Purchased new 2009 Camry from this dealership in 2008. In April 2015 received notification ZE7 (Warranty enhancement regarding excessive oil consumption). Took vehicle into dealership and oil consumption test was started. As of May 2015 it was determined the car was in Stage 2 and repairs would be made when parts came in. We were told to check back occasionally to see if the parts are in for the repair. We continue to monitor the oil level and to add oil when needed and make the necessary & periodic oil changes. Made several calls to the service dept. and left a message and a call back number to have someone call us back regarding the update on the repair. NO ONE ever returned these calls. Then on 11/19/2015 I was able to speak to Tabitha in Service Dept.....she said they are repairing #138 right now and that we were #141 on the list for these repairs and it shouldn't be too long now! Fast Forward to 01/09/2016, called again & gave my phone number to have someone return my call......NO ONE called back. Then called on 01/26/2016 and were told someone would call back after speaking "to my manager".....NO ONE called back. 01/29/2016 called again and spoke to serviceman who told me they are still making these repairs but parts are slow to come in. When a customer calls about an ongoing service problem and leaves a call back phone number and just asks for an update on repairs, that is the very least that should be done. Very frustrating!

I went to ask a few questions about a truck and was talked into buying a car on their conquest program because it sounded like a better option. I sat at the dealership for 6 hours and finally I was approved and went to sign papers with Brian, all questions were asked and we were told all was fine with the approval all we were waiting on was to see if we would have gap insurance or no gap insurance. We had a trade in as well. well I got a call 6 days later to be told the loan didn't go thru and to bring the car back. So I had a different cosigner with a almost 700 credit score to be told they couldn't approve the loan with my trade n but they could give me another car, I told them I didn't need 3 cars and I was informed buy the finance dept. to just let my trade in be reposed I told them that was not an option because I am not ruining my credit to get a new car and that's when they said thank you have a great day. I will never return to Mike Johnsons Toyota in hickory ever again.

I noticed that the car I purchased in late December 2015 had possible mechanical issues. Took the car back to Mike Johnson's for evaluation in the Service Dept. and waited for 2+ hours. Was then given a $900+ estimate for repairs. When I complained to the service technician I was told that the car passed a safety inspection. It was not disclosed to me that the car would need extensive repairs prior to purchase. I have left several messages for the sales manager, and he will not return my calls. I will not recommend this dealership to anyone.

Jose and Phillip helped me check in and out and did a great job. Whoever did the service on the car tho didn't do such a great job. They rated my battery as good, so I don't think they even checked it. I had my battery die twice on me before this service and forgot to mention it before the service was done. I mentioned it to Jose as he was checking me out and he went and checked the battery himself and it needed to be replaced.

Excellent service and communication. My 2002 Tacoma had catalytic converter failure. The engine warning light came on and was diagnosed with code 0420. The parts were custom ordered for first thing the next morning. Tim with the shuttle service dropped me off back home and picked me up at 10:30 the next morning when the repair was completed. Truck runs good with no warning light.

First servicing for my new Rav 4. Arrived a little early and they took me right in. Asked if there were any problems with the car so far (there were not). Nice waiting room. Was offered water/coffee. Like the screen that shows the list of vehicles being serviced. Was told on the phone when I made the appointment that it would take 45 mins to an hour. It took 45 minutes. All in all a pleasant experience.

Stopped in without an appointment and was a little overdue on my service. I was worked in fast, all sensors were reset without me having to remind anyone (service due). My car was clean and all the plastic and paper mats were removed so it was brought back to me in the same condition I took it in if not cleaner. Then I was back on my way sooner than I thought I would be. The staff was friendly, efficient and on top of everything. They made sure there were no recalls, no other things to address and were wonderful to work with. Great experience

Mr Johnson I'm a firm believer in "your only as good as the people you have around you". With that said, I purchased a used Toyota Tundra from there. I wanted a one owner no accident truck and it took me 4 months to find the right one in a 200 mile radius of Hickory. (I'm picky about my vehicles) Being a mechanic myself, I had about 4 issues with the truck within the 3 month, 3,000 mile warranty. Chris Brown and techs in service dept stepped up and took care of the problems and wasn't satisfied until I was satisfied with truck. That Mr Johnson means a lot. So being my first Toyota vehicle, I would have no problem buying from you again. I had a nice buying and service experience from your people. Thanks again.

Everyone at Mike Johnsons in Hickory NC are polite and friendly. I have had experiences where I've walked into other dealerships and no one even speaks. It's kind of like visiting a church where when you leave and not want to re-visit because you felt invisible? Word gets out. You hear about all the bad and negative things because it's our nature to tell it. We sit and listen. Not too many speak about wonderful experiences....it's just not that interesting. I am not too hard to please and I know exactly what I want, but I have been known to be picky and aim for perfection.I would like to tell my story about a positive experience I had there. The managers care more about the money and car deals than their employees or customers. Please, take my advice. If you think they care about what you really want in a car, you are wrong. my husband and I went here to trade our camary in for a truck. we were told if we purchased this car and made payments for 12 months we would be able to come back and get a truck. well that was a lie. they tried to stick us with another car but i refused. we ended up with the rav 4. it wasnt what we wanted but it got us out of a car we hated. in the future if we decide to get another automobile it wont be from there.

My 2013 prius was making a strange noise when accelerating. It was hard to describe the sound but Anton told me they would try to fix the problem. After a short wait, I was taken to see the problem...a stick was wedged underneath the car. It was removed, and the technician drove the car again to make sure he had corrected the problem. Bought a used minivan with less than 70k miles. Everyone was really friendly and nice until I payed. Went to pick it up two days and they didn't perform all the repairs I was promised. Was told that I got the car at a good price and they will not invest more money in it. They didn't provide any paperwork regarding the 3 months 3000 miles powertrain warranty but was told if anything happens to the engine or transmition they will take care of it. Two weeks later started having idle surge problems. Went back and they charged me a diag. fee and wanted to replace the IACV for another $300+. Was told the sensors or valves are not covered under warranty. Went to an independent mechanic and found air inside the cooling system. After bleeding the air out the problem went away. Went back and talk to the manager to obtain more information on warranty. Was told they do not offer anything written on paper. A few days later the car started having the same symptoms. My mechanic found an internal engine gas leak inside the cooling system. Took the car back to the dealer and explained what the problem is. I asked to have the car inspected for a damaged head gasket or crackhead head. Two days later I was charged $300+ and all they did was bleeding the air from the coolant. Again I was told that the head or the head gasket are not covered by powertrain warranty and that they cannot diagnose any further. I called and spoke to a sales rep pretending I wanted to buy a used car. When I asked about warranty details he told me that the head gasket and the gasket would be covered under the 3000 miles powertrain warranty. He even went on to say "we're one of the few dealers that offer good warranty on used cars". After telling him that I have the car in the service department and they don't want to cover the repair, he replied that he is new with the company and he doesn't know all the details about warranty. The website states clearly that the powertrain warranty covers all major engine components and all internally lubricated parts. I will try one more time to talk to the general manager before starting legal actions. Before you buy a car at Mike Johnson, make sure you have all the details about warranty on paper.

Imagine this - doing the entire deal over the phone and email - and then - even more amazing - having the dealer actually follow through on the deal you negotiated!!! That was my experience with Steve and Justin at Mike Johnson Hickory Toyota in buying a pre-owned 2013 Toyota Venza XLE. But it gets even better. When I went to pick up the car, I notice some cosmetic defects which were more than would normally be expected. I was concerned the deal was in jeopardy - but i underestimated Steve. He immediately agreed to fix them at time / date of my convenience, and also agreed to pick up my car in Charlotte and return it to Charlotte after the corrections.And it still gets betterTo top it all off, Ryan (the business manager) did not use high pressure sales tactics on an extended services policy. He simply explained the benefits and cost and let me think about it. By the time we completed the paperwork 20 minutes later, i realized the pros of the service policy greatly exceeded the cons and bought it.No high pressure sales tactics. No bait and switch. No pressure to buy a car simply because it is on the lot. No dealing with junior sales reps who - although well intended and very professional - have no authority to make a deal. If you live in Charlotte and are in the market for a Toyota, do yourself a favor and call Steve or Justin or Ryan at Mike Johnson Hickory Toyota.

When they got done with the car I drove my car back home on the way home home I kept on hearing something in the engine but didn't really pay attention because I thought such a big dealership I should be able to trust them that they know what they are doi g to my car.The next day whiledriving the noise started bothering me I stopped my car to find out that my car battery was up against my filter slanted the metal piece that was supposed to be holding the battery in place was pull back and wasn't even holding my battery in place anymoreinstead of taking the time to unscrew both of the knots on the metal holding the battery in place anymore ... seem like someone just decided to take off one bulb screw and just pulled metal backwards now the metal won't even hold the battery in place anymore I'm very disappointed will never take my car back to that dealership for any reason...

I should start by saying, in this day and age, before going to buy a car, do your due-diligence and research, research, research. Be an informed buyer and you should be able to get an acceptable deal most places.That being said, I shopped a couple of dealerships after doing a lot of on-line research. I knew what I wanted and what I was willing to pay before I went up to Hickory from Charlotte. After a couple phone calls, Patrick gave me a verbal confirmation that he had the exact car I wanted for the exact price I wanted to pay. Just before driving up, I asked him about the cost of some possible upgrades and if he had cars in stock with them. Patrick gave me a rough figure for additional options. I told him I was just curious and I'd stick with the original car we discussed, no problem. He got back with me just minutes later and told me I could have the 'extras' for half the price he had just mentioned. I told him we were on the way. The experience at the dealership was easy and we even got free massages while we were waiting on some paperwork to be completed (some days it's a masseuse, others it's a free manicure or pedicure!) We bought our new Camry for at least $2500 less than the three major car shopping sites estimated! Our car also came with window tinting, floor mats, and a lifetime powertrain warranty included in this excellent price.We couldn't be more thrilled with the experience. Many thanks to Patrick and his team for the great deal. I will definitely tell anyone I know interested in a Toyota to call him.

I was sold a defective car the first time I went in. I had to get BBB and the Attorney General to make them take it back. They made like they were doing me a big favor by selling me a new 2012 which was exactly the same price as the 2010 that was a "lemon". They added all sorts of maintenance and service to the car. It was new so it should have had a good warranty and I didn't need $2900 worth of grap. I went back in one day to change the oil and they talked me into trading the 2012 for a 2013. It was also the same price and they transferred all the stuff they had on the other one and added "gap" insurance because this car was now a "used" car. I ended up with a higher bill and a bigger finance on the car. The rate was lower buy the final bill was higher. I didn't understand what they did. I really didn't want anything but an oil change and was waiting for that. The salesman asked me to walk out and look at some of the new ones. I was not ready to trade and I liked my red car better than the silver I ended up with. I have trouble saying "no" to pushy people. I get intimidated really easily. I would prefer to have time to think about it--even the first car. I would like to have had a chance to drive it for a day or so to get the real feel of the car. They sure don't do that. I would still rather have a Rogue whether new or used. That is what I had. I don't know why I went in there. They sure won't let you leave without a car!! They use the "gang up" technique and it works on poor unsuspecting souls like me.

I traded in a car and was brought a car to buy. Finance wanted to make sure that they got a sale and made 10 inquiries for a loan. My credit score has always been close to 800, I have never been denied credit and have always had 0% credit cards, now due to them making so many inquiries I can not even get a credit card. They ruined my credit. My mirror cracked they insisted it was $261.00 MY mechanic fixed it for $55.11 and it works perfect. THEY OVER CHARGE ON EVERYTHING. Their wervice contracts are a rip off by the time you go to get your oil changed you are paying up to $75 per oil change but I think they figure well we have free water and popcorn and a nail tech, so your actually paying for that too! They added $200 to my contract for Keycare in case I loose the already 3 keys I have - they didnt even tell me there was a charge. Another deception. They are out to make money and that is all terrible company never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't beleive I am writing a complimentary review on a car delaler, but........ I found Mike Johnson's HickoryToyota through USAA Car Buying Service while looking for a used Highlander and ended up buying a new Highlander Limited, but not using the car buying service. I worked with Andy on the phone and he gave me a better deal than the Car Buying service and a dozen other Toyota Dealers. NO HAGGLING! He didn't give me all the high prices and work down to see how knowledgeable I was. I did not have to bargain! The best car buying experience I have ever had! And we have bought many cars over the last 45 years. He quoted the lowest price by far and delivered our car with more options than he quoted and no price change. Plus he got a 0% car loan for us. When we picked up our car, Josh (another salesman) took care of our every need. He explained in detail all the features and even helped us setup the phone apps, entune, navigation system, etc. He was exceptional! He also had our new car spotless, parked in the garage, filled it with a full tank of gas, put temporary tag on, coordinated info with our insurance company, etc. He even had a masseuse give a complimentary massage to my wife while in the showroom waiting on processing of the paperwork. Knew what I was looking for upon arrival after having been to other Toyota dealerships. Told the salesman how we would trade. Of course they came back with a higher number. I started out the door, GM came back and accepted my offer. Did not try to lowball them too bad but did offer less than next best price at other dealers. They did not try to play any games just straight forward. From the time I got there to time deal was done 15 minutes. Very nice dealership with a large inventory, very professional. Easiest car trade in years. Would not hesitate to return. I know others who were well pleased but do not take time to review.

Great car buying experience. Dont generally enjoy the process of buying a car. Most places will try and push things at you that you do not need or want. This did not happen here. After dealing with a couple of other dealerships, reviews wont read like this one, went in knowing what I wanted and was willing to pay. Gave the saleman the number and of course was told no, no movement from my part, they then agreed. Whole process took less than 10 minutes.They did not try to push anything else. I think the key is to know what you will or wont do and dont give in.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!! Had my van repaired there 5 times and they still didn't get it right. ON the 5th time....they said it was not their problem and would not fix what THEY BROKE!!! There or so many other good mechanics in Hickory....use one of them.....AVOID THIS PLACE ALL TOGETHER!!!!

There are plenty of salesmen working here so you have no trouble getting shown a car. Problem is they won't give you a price without trying to give you monthly payments and sell you something that very day. The price quote they do give is adjusted funny which means the incentives raise the overall total instead of lower it. There's a lot of fuss over monthly payment and interest and 0 financing. You will be wise to shop around and call or visit other dealers (like in Gastonia, Charlotte, Salisbury, Statesville, Boone) to get a better price. 0 financing won't be good if you are paying a few grand more total for the car. The whole experience was just slimy.

Watch out here if you want to buy a car they are so slick they will try their best to fool you. They put a bunch a discounts on the price but then if you start a looking you will see there is no discount. They charge a good 20% more than other Toyota dealers around (Boone, Salisbury, Gastonia, Statesville). They focus on that 0 financing but it's not really 0 if they are charging you 4 to 6 thousand dollars more for the car than another dealership. The salesman are friendly enough but they never have any brochures. Have been by that place 3 times for a brochure and they are always out. If they can't get them they should print some of their own. Have had excellent service on cars in the past. Would not buy a car here because they overcharge.

Got a call from this dealer early last year wanting to buy back my 2010 Tacoma and sell me a new 2011 at same payments or less. They did manage to get close. My 2010 had a small dent in the tailgate and the person responsible had the tailgate to repair/replace. My salesman, Eric Cline, had no problem with that (by the way, Eric was a joy to work with). The gentleman with my tailgate decided to order a new one and paint it to match. When it took longer than expected to get the gate from Toyota I started getting calls from Andy at the dealership saying he had sold my old truck and needed the tailgate. I told him we were waiting on Toyota, he insisted on getting the name of the person I was working with. I finally gave it to him and got a call from the person a short time later. He said this Andy and called him demanding the tailgate, was very beligerent and threatening. Andy also told me he might just order a new tailgate and bill me for it. I told him I'd be more than glad to take the old truck back and even pay to have the new one brought back on a truck so another mile wouldn't be added. The whole experience was so bad I didn't want to drive the new one anyway. He refused and about a week later I delivered the new tailgate to Eric. I told Eric that if Andy had stayed out of it he probably would have gotten it sooner. This is my fourth new Toyota truck, three from this dealership. There might be a new Toyota in my future but it will not be from this dealer.

This company was terrible to deal with. I started out to buy a car and had already told the man over the phone I wanted my payments at this amount. The guy said we will probably get you close to that deal. Okay so here was the problem, they came no where close to it. They were only wanting the deal done today, not let me sleep on it over the weekend. The worst part was I could have been home in my books and try to study for my big test coming up. The guy text me at 8 o'clock in the morning making sure I was coming in to do the deal today to.

Stay away, far away. The sale went ok, the game was played,back and forth with numbers ,the finance guy was a bully, he was in a hurry, not giving me time to get the best rate he said he couldn't stay with me all day he had others to wait on, i said wait on them first and get with me later, he said no. He was in a hurry alright but not to wait on customers, it was to have lunch. I walked buy his office on the way out of this ordeal, and there they were having lunch laughing. So do not go there around lunch time,they don't have time for customer service. It's easy to bully a 50 year old women when she is alone. I will take my car to another dearlership to be serviced, like i should have to buy the car.

Brought my new Toyota in for scheduled interval service, and ok'd the alternator belt replacement they recommended. They put the belt in wrong, it failed and their service department wasn't concerned at all. Just told me to bring the car in when convenient for them. I did and they got it wrong again. I was not allowed to speak to Mike Johnson ("He always calls customers back" really works well when they won't let you spake to him or leave a voice message), so after trying to get some resolution from Toyota regional and national, took the car to an Asheville dealer who got this simple parts installation right the first time and for less money. My credit card company, American Express, who has backed out small charges for large companies and large charges for small companies without argument, balked at backing out a large charge for a large company ("The dealers are our customers too" they whined) and stuck me with the bill. So I've paid twice and taken the car in three times to have one simple alternator belt installation done right. Thanks, Mike Johnson!
