John helped us from start to finish and was so friendly and informative. As a first time car buyer I felt confident in my choice and happy with the experience, it felt like getting help from a family member. I would absolutely come back to purchase and service future vehicles.

We have been looking for a vehicle to help us make life a little better for the family with work and college, and we have gone to many car dealerships in Lawrence, Methuen and Salem, NH. We arrived at Husson Motors and we were totally blown away with the treatment, service, and support throughout the car buying experience. Amazing treatment and we will definitely be back if we ever need to change or purchase a new vehicle.

I bought a Dodge Charger for the first time at this dealer. I will never go to again. They are nothing but liars. I go and get the car and it wasn't even detailed. They said they would owe me a detail. They didn't even detail the car before it went on the lot. A lot of dealers that sell cars for a lot of money, give it a full detail. Including taking out scratches. When they said they would detail my car, that wasn't even part of the scratches. Not only that, Sandy the sales lady I dealt with wouldn't bring the price down, that was her first word to me. I didn't even ask first, right there should have raised a red flag. That they were hiding something. Then they said when after I got the car, cause I loved it. They said they would pay off a loan I had from my other vehicle I traded. Then give me $1500 for it. What do they do, change the story on the loan. The trade wasn't even what they said. All they do is lie to you. I got the car at a good deal, but still. They ripped me off and it wasn't right. But now two days after having the car, I found issues with it. One was the tires were all dry rotted and bad may I say. They told me with an attitude bring it to there shop. So I did that and what do they say. They pass cars everyday like that. Wow, passing cars with not safe tires. So I told them I will go to the state and they changed things right away on that. Right there shows you had bad they are. Of course they give me cheap tires from Michelin's. They want a lot of money for the cars and are cheap on the parts. I also told them to before they put the tires on the alignment was off and all they did was ignore me. Talk about rude. So I told the dealership on that and they said I should have told them. Its like are you kidding me. I did tell them. So there was $90 I had to spend. Then when I got the alignment, my mechanic found a couple of problems with it. Shocks and a seal leaking. So I told the dealership on the shocks first. They tell me they weren't leaking before. That is bull, it don't take two days after having the car for those to leak. So I didn't tell them on the seal. Cause all I did was fight with them on the shocks. I wanted to buy a car so I wouldn't have to put work into this quick. So I had to do the shocks also. Not only that, I found rust bubbles also after it being in the shade and that wont be cheap to fix either. So I have to say, they are the worst dealer I have ever dealt with and will never go back to them.
Very disappointed

I purchased a Honda Accord from Husson 6 years ago. Post purchase I found several problems wit the car. It wouldn't start on the day after purchase. They did eventually come to my house to replace the battery but only after lots of yelling and screaming. The idiot lights in this car all came on within a few days of purchase. Husson's garage cleared the lights a few times but they kept coming back on and stayed on for the entire 6 years that I owned the car. Passing inspection every year was very tricky because of the idiot lights. There were several other issues with the car that were not so majorA month ago I needed a new car and decided to give Husson A chance to redeem themselves. This time I purchased a Honda Pilot. The day after Purchase, I opened the rear driver's side door, slightly touched the back of the drivers seat and the entire panel on the back of that seat fell into the floor. Today I went to load the first CD into the 6 CD changer. The first CD I put in causes the changer to jam. The CD player won't do anything now. There are several other less serious faults with this car. I will never return to this dealer Again for any reason

This was my first time purchasing a car at any dealer, which luckily i found a beautiful car at this Dealer where i meant Sandy, who was great at first, but as the days doing businesses with her went on. She had a poor attitude and gave false information before she even knew the correct answers. She made the assumption that the car could have been paid weekly, that was a lie it was monthly. We called their customer service center and they said the car was out for an oil change, we test drove the car and the PSI light was on, we told Sandy and she said that it just needed some air, and then we also used the clutch on the 6 speed and it was making creek noises. Now it was time to purchase the car because, don't get me wrong i really loved that car. However, once i was able to bring it home, 1. The change oil light soon came on, well if it went to get an oil change why is that light on? Did they lie? Now we called the hudson repair shop, and they said they were going to charge me, it's not covered under warranty. 2. the PSI light went back on, the back passenger tire was having a slow leak, meaning they knew that it has been like this from day1 but they never told us, nor did they fix it. Let me remind you, this hasn't been even close to 30 days. Now i am required to pay for the valve stem to fix a car that has been siting at their dealer for 2 months now? Do they not check on their cars that they plan to sell to the future customers, instead of waiting for it to be purchased then blaming them for the cause of the effect. I, personally think thats bad customer service. 3. Now the clutch with it's odd noise, you would think they would 'prep' the car before giving it out to the new owner but no, the noise was still there. Let me tell you there was one big dragon fly dead on the dashboard and another insect bug, whatever the heck it was dead! Disgusting. I am very disappointed in this dealership, I thought they were great from all these highly recommended reviews but my experience and continuing has gone completely terrible.

Dealt with "Internet Sales Person Sandy".......-While doing the paperwork for my 2005 Solara, I said I wanted 3 years financing. They came out with all the paperwork all ready done and it was for 4 years. Bad Start ! The vehicle was not "prepped" at all. Still had the window tint on the windows (not legal in NH) , and the big price sticker on the front window. I had to make a trip to Salem to get the tint removed. Then she told me the car was loud because it was the "Sport" model....turns out the exhaust had been changed somewhere to a "Performance" exhaust (very loud). She wouldn't budge on the price-even thought the vehicle was missing the front spoiler , had a rust spot, and several dings and dents-which I really couldn't see because it was dark when I bought the car. After I left I discovered there was an internet special coupon for a couple hundred bucks off she didn't tell me about. Then she told me that if I got the car fixed at the Salem Shop I would not have to pay the $100 deductible for the warranty I was talked into. Wrong. I called the shop with a problem I had right away and they said I would have to pay the $100 deductible. And of course the problem I had was NOT covered by the top notch "extra" warranty I bought. I had the Toyota Dealer in Rochester look at it and the front end steering needs to be lubed. (car clunks and bangs when I turn corners) Efforts to contact the dealership have gone un-noticed and my emails to her have gone unanswered.

I had been to this dealership a couple of times looking to buy a car for my daughter. I had the good luck to deal with Chris Normyle on those occasions. Even though I didn't buy a car at either of those visits, this visit, I did. I cannot recommend this dealership enough if what you are looking for is a later model used car. They usually have a good selection and the cars all seems to be in great shape. My daughter found a car that she was extremely happy with and the buying process was smooth and easy. The main reason however that I returned to Husson Motors was the way I was treated by Chris. Even when I didn't buy on my earlier visits, he was as friendly and professional as the first time I had been there. I had been looking for a car for a time and visited many dealerships and I was always "pounced" on by a salesman who right away wanted to know how he could get me to buy a car. I can tell you that this is the exact opposite of the way I was treated a Husson Motors. I would highly recommend this dealership to any of my friends and relatives. I am extremely happy with the transaction on the whole and the customer service aspect in particular!

I'm looking for a low-cost car to replace my totaled vehicle. However, I want it to hold up for the next few years of driving, so I'm hoping for a Honda or Toyota, cars that are known for lasting. Husson was advertising an "as is" Civic that seemed like it could be a good bargain. Chris was very friendly, explained that the vehicle needed some work to pass inspection, and explained the details of what kind of work was needed. He even made it clear to me that they only knew about the inspection requirements, and that there may be other necessary maintenance required. I was enjoying working with him and he seemed very understanding. However, he said that his boss stipulates that if I take it to a mechanic to have it looked over, it had to be a mechanic in Salem. Our family mechanic whom we've known for 35 years and takes very good care of us was deemed too far away. He promised that we could pick any mechanic in Salem, but the one we know and trust was out of the question. Huge red flag that we couldn't pick our own mechanic less than an hour away.If I can't take it to my own mechanic, I can't trust the dealer.Edit: After I posted this review, the dealer contacted me to tell me that the reason I couldn't take it farther than Salem was due to its not passing inspection as is, and the associated safety concerns. In that light, it seems like a very wise policy. However, this information was not given to me before I wrote this review. If it had, I would have considered towing it to my mechanic or trying to make it work some other way. I have no problem buying an as-is vehicle, so long as I can have someone I know and trust look at it, so I can determine what the cost to make it roadworthy will be. Since I was not able to do that, I chose not to buy the vehicle. Simply being told I had to pick another mechanic just didn't feel right.Furthermore, I was skeptical of their response. In previous phone conversations, I was told that the manager didn't want us to take it to another town was because it was a "low cost vehicle." When they told me later that the car wasn't safe to drive, it felt like an excuse after the fact. They told me that without an inspection sticker, they "did not consider it to be safe on the road much less on the highway." If it didn't have a sticker, why was driving it anywhere at all on the table? If it's not safe on the road, why were they okay with me driving it to a mechanic in Salem? It seems to me that in this case, I should have been presented with options of having a mechanic come to the dealership or having the car towed to a mechanic. The only option Chris ever offered me was to drive the car to a mechanic himself. The irony of this will become apparent in a moment. After I wrote this review, they were very concerned and tried too contact me about it in multiple ways. If they had reached out in good faith to explain the misunderstanding and arrive at an amicable agreement, I would have been very pleased. That's not what happened. I received a very curt an accusatory voicemail from Chris. He said that I was wrong to write the review, because he did his job. (He did. I wrote that in the review and initially gave them 5 stars for friendliness.) He said it wasn't fair to post it where other customers might read it. I understand that concern, but even though I was critical, they actually still ended up with a 3.5 star review from me--an above average rating. The comments above the "Edit" section have not been changed at all. I made several compliments, and voiced one specific concern. However, in Chris's voicemail, he accused me of bashing them for selling an as-is vehicle. Definitely not the case. They also wrote an angry email to me through this site. The gist was that I had been made aware that the car as-is wouldn't pass inspection (this is true, they were clear about this), and therefore was not safe to drive on the road or the highway--which should, in my opinion, preclude taking it anywhere off the lot. However, Chris had previously offered to drive the car to a mechanic in Salem for me, which is not consistent with their saying the car wasn't safe on the road. Moreover, what they wrote to me was very, very rude and disrespectful, and included the following spurious accusation: "Your life may not mean much to you however it does to us as well as the life of any other person sharing the road with you." I'm sorry, *I'm* the one who's risking others' lives on the road? Are they not doing the same in offering to take the car off the lot to a Salem mechanic? It just doesn't add up to me.I initially told them that out of fairness, I wouldn't factor in the belligerence and accusatory nature of their communications with me. But I later learned that they had contacted my father, who had not been involved with my communications with Husson at all (they had his number because he was looking at the car for me since I was out of state.) My father told me that the way they spoke to him was "aggressive." This relieved me of any impetus or desire to be "fair" to them. I understand why they were upset with me in writing a less than glowing review, but that does NOT give them the right to harass my family. I am very protective of the people I love...far more so than the egos of spiteful used car dealers. In the end, they earned this review by being disrespectful and unkind to me and my father. In an ideal situation, they would have reached out in a conciliatory way to make things right by correcting the misunderstanding and treating me as a valued customer. I could potentially have at very least removed the review, or even upgraded it to a good review. Unfortunately, that is not what happened. I maintained the review as neutral, until they bullied my father. For that, their consequence is me telling the *whole* truth.

I just bought my first car from Husson Motors (2010 Honda Civic Coupe LX). They allowed me to bring it to my long time mechanic before I signed the papers. The only thing that was needed was an oil change and a battery. I returned to Husson Motors and told them I would like to make the purchase. They replaced the battery immediately with no charge or me even asking in the first place and also gave me a free oil change at there Auto Repair Shop that is just a couple minutes down the road (very convenient). This vehicle also came with brand new brakes (Husson Motors installed) and the tires have at least a year of tread left if not a couple years. Needless to say I drove off the lot without spending a penny extra. What I am even more pleased about was their customer service. Chris, Sean, and the owner all helped me out. They wen't above and beyond working with the banks for me seeing that my credit wasn't really up to par (obviously not their fault). Prior to this I had been driving a 17 year old vehicle that I had owned for 10 years that was sucking all my money out of my pocket getting me no where no matter how hard I tried. They knew that me getting this Honda was going to get me on a much better path and after a lot of hard work (none of which I had to do) with the Financing company it all worked out. I went in the first day thinking that this was no way possible at all for me to do. I did not have to hassle or anything. It honestly felt like instead of looking at me like a regular customer they took my situation seriously and in the end did better than anything I could have asked for. There was also no pressure at any point in time especially for being a young customer. This may sound like an over exaggeration but it is not. Which is why I felt such a need to share my experience on the internet for everyone to see. To this day there has been nothing that I could complain about the vehicle's mechanics or looks since I drove it off the lot. And as young as I may be I am quite savvy when it comes to knowing there's something wrong with a vehicle and this is really a nice ride. Thank you sincerely everyone at Husson Motors, keep up the great work!

I want to thank everyone at Husson Motors for doing an outstanding job. Paul, Chris, and Shawn were all very helpful and made the whole buying process a great experience. I was looking for a very-specific Mustang which I could not find on the public market. A 2004 Mustang GT Premium Convertible with a black top, clean, under 100K miles, in the middle of the summer and at a affordable price. They found the car that I described within a week and went out of their way to get their hands on the vehicle. I'm now a very happy customer and I recommend anyone who's looking for a car to check out Husson Motors. Thank you all.

I litterally have just walked in the door from my visit to Husson Motors in Salem, NH...door to deal to door was 3 hours. I cannot stress enough how pleased I am with this company. I called them this morning, I had a Jeep to sell but needed to replace it with something more economical (and had found a car that I liked on their website), and still get funds back. From the moment Chris picked up the phone, I knew this was the dealer for me (and I am not an easy sell). I had definative numbers in my head and was not deviating from them, no matter what. He asked how fast I could get there and I pulled into their lot within an hour. Within the next 45 minutes we test drove the car I wanted and signed the deal. Never once did he pull the "car salesman act". Again, I am not easy and rejected his 1st offer. He was determined to make this work and went out back and he and Shawn (his Manager) put their heads together. I have no idea how they did it, but am so appreciative that they did. I only met Shawn and only said Hello yet could tell he was kind. I knew that this wasn't "just another sale to meet a quota", they genuinely wanted me to be happy. Where do you get that anymore? Chris is the kind of gentleman you'd want as a friend, seriously. I am a Customer Service Agent and look for that in others. He personified CS, and I am an eternal skeptic but never did I feel anything but comfortable there. I'd brought my 2 dogs (that can be a handful) and they welcomed them and made sure they had water. Told us just to make ourselves at home. Chris was considerate, kind, he listened and empathized with my situation. Never once tried to up-sell me. After the deal was signed the car went out back to Phil (to recon, get ready)I do believe he put me in front of someone else. I watched him as he was washing the car outside (he didn't know I was there). He was meticulous in the was he was paying attention to every detail. You would have thought his Manager was standing right over him, but he was out there just independently working, like this is how he does it every time (and I do believe that). When done he told me that one of my mats was a little messed up so he replaced it and made sure it matched the others. Then he played with my dogs. All the while with a big smile on his face. Honestly, if anyone is in the market for a car, you owe it to yourselves to check them out first. Even if you're "just looking" take a ride to the Rockingham Mall and stop by and check out what they have on the lot. I guarantee there will be no heavy handed salesman stuff. Seriously, go to these guys before you shop around, I wasted a week before I found them and I had a deal and a new (used) car and was back home within 3 hours. And I am still smiling!

Just bought vehicle from these folks. Had done my "homework" prior, and no real issues that I saw. My experience was very good- Chris treated me with respect, and did the best job he could for me. Overall, believe I got a good deal, outside of the finance rate (which was my own fault, given my credit situation), but Chris gave me advice as to options I had with that in the future. The vehicle is exactly as expected, and so far I am very happy. I would recommend Husson Motors to anyone who is looking for decent deals, and if credit-challenged (like I was) they will do their best for you. I doubt I would have done this well had I tried to go to a "traditional" dealership. Again, overall, dealing with Husson Motors has been one of the better car-buying experiences that I have had for quite some time.

I called in the evening about a Honda Civic for my son , i was told the car was still available, and was told to talk with Shawn when I came in the next morning at 8:30. When my son and I arrived Shawn said the car was being driven by one of the employees and he couldn't get in touch with him. He asked if he could call me when it came back. I believed this car would be ready for my son to drive when we arrived based on the previous night's conversation. I left my number with Shawn and received a call two days later telling me their was a deposit n the car now and he would let me know if it fell through...not happy with the way this was handled!

Never once tried to up-sell me.After the deal was signed the car went out back to Phil (to recon, get ready)I do believe he put me in front of someone else. All the while with a big smile on his face.Honestly, if anyone is in the market for a car, you owe it to yourselves to check them out first.

When Chris called, I have to admit I was skeptical. I have a poor credit rating but decided I would give it a shot and see what Husson Motors could do for me. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with respect, understanding and warmth. I would recommend anyone that needs to re-establish themselves or is in a situation such as myself, give Husson Motors a visit. Chris and Sean were able work with me and offer me a vehicle within my budget and better than the ones I had selected online to look at! Thanks Guys! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

8/24/2011 I highly recommend this dealership. I just purchased my 2nd used vehicle from them this week (8/2011). My first vehicle purchased from them was in 2002 (a 4 yr old '97 Ford Explorer that had 65000 miles on it) and it has lasted me 9 years! I just bought a Mercury Mountaineer for great price. The Customer Serivce Rep Chris Normyle was terrific to work with - no sales pressure, showed us only vehicles that had features we were interested in, and very helpful. I will be back for 3rd vehicle in future. sukie46 Malden, MA

My dad and I were in a bad place in the car world. We needed a vehicle desperately and neither of us had credit. We went into Husson Motors having spoken with Chris Normyle on the phone previously. Being a first time buyer, I was extremely stressed out and nervous, but Chris made the process easy and painless. He got me into the car I wanted (a red vw beetle =P) with a monthly payment I could afford.I would definitely recommend Husson Motors in Salem, NH to anyone in a tight spot that needs a car.

Went in looking to trade in my PT Cruiser, but ended up getting a second car because I was able to get a loan with no money down, despite not so great credit. Sean was very friendly and worked with me to get a safe car for my children that was larger than the PT cruiser we already had. Actually, I was there for a while waiting on the bank and paperwork and all that, and *everyone* in the office was friendly talkative. After purchasing the car, I noticed a few things that needed to be fixed, as you often find with used cars. They fixed all the things I asked them to, except for some cosmetic parts inside the car, which they are currently waiting on the parts place to call them back about. They also worked it out so that I was able to take my van home that day and come back in at a different time to get my car fully detailed and get the few scratches buffed out. And to top it all off, my husband was at work when the detail work was finished, and I was unable to come pick the car up because I had no ride to the dealership, so they drove the car to my home for me (I live only a few minutes from the dealership). All in all, I am recommending this place to my friends, and will go back there in the future when my husband wants a new car for himself.

my overall experience with chris the sales manger and sean the finance manger was awesom. they were the first dealer i went to and also the last. i came in as a 24 year old with middle of the road credit and no cosigner. i was greeted by chris and he wasnt a pushy sales man he was a regular guy that was just tryin to make a living and i could relate to that. he wasnt pushing me into something i wasnt interested in. i left the dealer that day not sure if i would return. i then went to a new car dealer and found a car i really liked. i went to get some numbers and see if i was eligible for financing. i was not and i was very embarassed and agrevated that i was not able. i called chris that night and he told me not to worry and he could make something happen. i went there the next day i found a car i like and we sarted the paperwork. i then found out that i was approved for financing but not enough for what i wanted i told chris and sean how much i really wanted this specific car sean told me to give him a day and he would work the banks more. it took 2 days but sean called me back and told me he got me the financing i needed for the car i wanted. i was so unbeleivably excited and both chris and sean shared in my enjoyment. i am now the proud owner of an 07 mazda 3 wagan fully loaded and for an awesome price and reasonable payments. it was a team effort and a great experience i would recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a car.

This was by far the best experience I have had at any dealership, there was never any pressure to do anything and there was always a helping hand to assist me in what I was looking for. They went the extra mile to make sure that I was getting the best deal possible for the car I wanted. It was a pleasure working with Chris, he was extremely patient and helpful and I highly recommend talking with him if you are interested in owning a pre-owned car.A very pleased pre-owned customer, Luis G.

This was my first experience buying a car on my own. As a woman I felt very fairly treated and not taken advantage of due to my lack of real knowledge and expertise with cars. The salesman encouraged me to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic, worked with me on the items that needed addressing (very minor) and we negotiated a price that was within well within the range I thought was the correct, fair price. They detailed the car before I took delivery, rotated the tires at no charge and stayed until 8:00pm so that I could drive from Maine to pick up my "new" car. My experience overall was very pleasant, handled professionally and I would unreservedly recommend the dealership and especially the salesman, Chris Normyle, to anyone looking for a reliable, fairly priced vehicle.

This was my first experience with buying a car on my own, I was a bit nervous. Chris was very friendly and helpful right from the start. I felt very comfortable and wasn't intimidating by any means. He answered all my questions and was very thorough and patient when it came to the trade-in and negotiating. He is an excellet sales man and I will certainly be referring anyone that's buying a car to Husson Motors.

I drove my 91 year old father from Cape Cod to tradein his old car for a newer one. Chris was very accomadating and worked with my Dad for a deal that was fair for everyone. We had to communicate after regarding some paperwork and Chris was very prompt in returning any phone calls and made sure we got the neccessary paperwork quickly. I would certainly recommend Husson Motors.

My wife and I were very impressed with Chris. He was extremely helpful and honest. He made us feel that he was working for us as well as Husson Motors. He also made us feel that he and Husson were there for us 110% now and in the future. We just brought our new 2002 GMC Envoy home today and are in love with it. We look forward to many years with this vehicle. We would highly recomend Chris and Husson Motors.

My experiance dealing with Husson Motors was great. They were able to complete the sale in one day and I was able to leave with the car. They had a great selection and answered all my questions. I never felt pressured and I would highly recommend them to a car shopper.

Sean and Chris were both very friendly, but I don't feel like I got straight answers on the condition of the car and key things that were wrong with it were not disclosed, like the fact that the a/c does not work at all (I bought it in January so of course didn't tes it then). Sean also failed to tell me that there was only one key for the car and said that I could get another made for $60. As it turns out it's more like $150-200. Small untruths like that and the charade of running upstairs to ask the mysterious boss (who was not friendly at all when passign through) to give us a deal made the whole experience feel like dealing with the stereotypical "used car salesman". The car runs and I don't feel like I got totally ripped off on the price, but that's about all the good I can say. While not a totally awful experience, I wouldn't recommend Husson - I'd hope there's something better out there.
