I put in an application knowing that my credit was bad. Maurissa called me on a Friday and immediately put me at ease and invited me in on Saturday. Upon showing up, Maurissa set a relaxed tone and I immediately knew I was in good hands. She did a 360 degree demo of the car I was looking at. Highlighted everything from the new headlights, trunk storage option, and technology packages. I wanted a manual transmission and she made sure I got one. Even made a technician get one ready that was still in shipping wrap. We worked out the finances and I feel great about the numbers. This was a great experience from start to finish!

On a last minute effort to get my emissions done so that I could renew registration prior to my next trip and repair my car to leave for my son, Brandon was very efficient in working with me on my explanation of sound effects that I tried to explain. Since the moment I heard Charlie's voice on the phone, I knew I had to come in and take a look at the car. He was very personable and intellectual about what he was telling me about. I've had VW Southtowne perform service on my VW a few times. They did an okay job, although it always takes about 4 times as long as anticipated. I'm now selling my VW Passat and I was getting an "airbag fault" code. Because I don't want to sell someone a problem, I had to purchase an airbag controller which I found out fail routinely on these vehicles. I had a choice of buying a $700 version from the dealer, or getting a reconditioned one online from a company that specializes in electronic components for cars ($38 with shipping). I went the latter route, called VW Southtowne, explained the situation, and they said they could perform the necessary coding in about 30 minutes (the units have to be coded to your exact vehicle--not sure what the engineers were thinking when they designed these). I made an appointment, took the car in, explained the need and my previous discussion, and made the mistake of walking outside. I was immediately approached by a sales manager who then proceeded to have one of the new salesmen give me a tour around the lot. He was a very courteous young man, but I made it absolutely clear I wasn't in the market for another VW. That didn't matter and they eventually dragged me in to get my name and number and yet another sales manager insisted I check out a model that was $10K above what I was looking to spend...and a VW. I finally escaped only to have the service rep. indicate that they cannot do work on a used control module. "Too many variables" was his explanation. I asked who could do it. "No one" was the reply as he said they are hard coded to the vehicle. So that lovely ordeal chewed up 90 minutes of my life I will never get back. I then found a local service shop that specializes in VWs. Not only did they agree to do it (yes, it is apparently actually possible); but they will do it for free because it doesn't take that long. Talk about night and day. I will never buy another VW and I will absolutely never visit VW Southtowne again. Several local shops suggested I go to the dealer and when I told them the dealer indicated they couldn't do it, they said they were just being jerks. So, service was a complete bust, and the grand tour of every vehicle on their lot was tiring. If you are polite they never let you go, and if you are a jerk so that you can get away...then you are a jerk. I like to think I chose the high road, but I'm not visiting this dealership again in my life.

I wish i would have read some of the reviews before buying here. This has ended up being one of the worst and most dishonest transactions that i have ever been involved with. i wanted to buy a car with cash but in order to get me the price i wanted they had me go through there financing with warranties/gap/key replacement etc. and and told me i had to keep it for 6 months at which point i could cancel and would get almost all of that back. my big concern doing this was how much of this money i would actually get back and how much would get pulled into the prorated services during the 6 months. so i emphasized this concern, and i was told that they couldn't be exact but it would be basically x number of dollars which i was ok with. i canceled after the 6 months and waited for my checks. however i ended up almost $900 less than i was told. i went in assuming something was wrong, nope... that is how they get you. His response was that they never quote an exact amount, and the amount i received is what it ended up working out to. He kept saying..."it is still a good deal at that amount" the fact is that it wasn't the deal i agreed to. i never would have bought the car with those numbers. really dishonest tactics in order to sell cars

These guys are the most dishonest people I have ever worked with. They don't care about you as the customer. All they care about is stealing your money and making the most money possible. I came to this place for a car cause I had a few friends who worked here and it was still the worst car buying experience of my life bar none. If there is anything you learn from reading these reviews just learn to take your business somewhere else where they actually care about you... or at least try to. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.

Seriously the worst experience ever while dealing with them. I have been trying to contact my salesman that had helped me the first time and he always says he will reach me after his client but I have not gotten a response at all. I also tried to apply over the phone because I live in north salt lake and wanted to know if I would qualify but nobody ever responded back. Days later when someone finally helped me and got some information to see if I qualified, they said they would call me back in fifteen minutes, and not surprisingly I NEVER got a response. Its been almost a week and nobody has contacted me and when I try to contact the person that helped me, I never get a response. Took a hit on my credit report for no reason because this dealership sucks and never helped me out. I didn't drive out there because the first time I did I was there for a few hours and didn't qualify but now that my credit has gone up I wanna make sure I don't drive out there for no reason. Definitely going to visit a different dealership.

I just bought a 2012 CPO Jetta from Axel at Southtowne VW. Had a great experience with him and he worked really hard to get the car to the price point I needed. Axel is a great guy, was very knowledgble about the cars, was very professional, and had a very positive attitude! I will be back to Southtowne for my next VW and will surely use Axel! The entire team from the Sales Manager to the Finance Manager were all very easy to work with and patient with my many questions. Strongly Recommend going here over Strong or Cutrubus!

Horrible. Took my car to an independent repair shop and they were great. Instead of taking for a ride and my money they tell me that the problem was under warranty and to take it to the dealer. The Orem dealers' shop foreman got nasty with me so I took it to SouthTowne VW and they argued with me but I got a case number from VW headquarters before I spoke with them. So they take it in and look at it and tell me that in the last 30 miles I drove it (directly to them) I got another check engine light from what the first place told me. The original problem was the DPF and now they are telling me it's the DPF and a valve and they can't look at the DPF until they fix the valve for over $800. However, they also tell me that they have checked the DPF (after they said they couldn't and I have to fix the valve first) and it is completely clean cause they stuck their finger in there and it was clean. The DPF is impossible to get to without cutting the metal open and welding it back together. I argue and say no and want to know which valve it is and he tells me it's the "high" valve. Then I ask to talk to the guy working on my car and he said he'll have the shop foreman call me in 15 minutes. Three calls later and over 3 hours later, the shop foreman is still too busy to talk to me because "he's working on a brand new car that came in that is very important." More important than me I guess. So then I just want my car back and apparently it is on a test drive for THREE hours. They were trying to get the DPF to regenerate. The only reason to have it regenerate is if the DPF is full or clogged. EVEN THOUGH THEY SAID IT WAS COMPLETELY CLEAN. So I have to make my wife leave early from work so I can take her car to work cause they didn't know where my car was on this test drive. Then they call me on the way to work and tell me I can come pick it up. So I pick it up the next day and all the check engine, glow plug, and DPF lights are off and they can't tell me if it is fixed or not. "Drive it in a lower gear at a higher rate of speed for at least 20 miles and then over the next week and let us know what happens." So I take the car and leave and get home and turn the car off and the engine fan is still running. I call and he says that's normal and the cars do it all the time. Turns out that means I stopped the car while the DPF was regenerating. He has no idea what he is talking about. So I read the print out they gave me and it says: 2 check engine lights - both say excessive soot in the filter (DPF) NOTHING ABOUT A BAD VALVE They cleaned the LOW valve and now it's working. HE TOLD ME I HAD TO REPLACE IT FOR OVER $800 AND THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK FOR AN ADDITIONAL $112. PLUS HE TOLD ME IT WAS THE HIGH VALVE AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE LOW VALVE (THE HIGH VALVE IS MORE EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE.) The original shop showed me pictures of the DPF and how impossible it is to get in there, let alone reach your finger in the tiny honeycomb type filter. I took it back to the original shop who had been helping me decipher all the lies I was being told and they said they have no idea what they did either. Multiple times they tell me lies and prove to me they have lied to me on the print out when I picked the car up. EITHER THEY ARE COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT OR STRAIGHT UP LIARS!!! DON'T TRUST THEM.

My wife bought a new car at South Towne VW and it was a terrible experience. The sales told her lie after lie to get her to buy a car. We had a two year old Ford that was fantastic and they told us they could get us a new Jetta with the the exact same features for less than the price we were paying. That was a lie. He also said the there was a voice activated navigation system. There isn't. They also neglected to tell us that if we wanted the navigation system it was an extra $18.00 a month. The gas mileage of the Jetta isn't as good as they say either. After they tried to fix the problems and my wife tried to use the navigation system she started to cry. She has a brand new car and is crying because she had such a terrible experience. I WILL NEVER BUY A CAR THERE AGAIN. I WISH I COULD GET THE OLD FORD BACK! My wife is so mad she has just given up because she thinks that they think she is a problem. She told me it wasn't worth it to try and get them to correct any of the lies that we were told. I am very upset at what has happened.

I absolutely loved my experience at Volkswagen South Towne. Everyone I came in contact was awesome. As soon as I walked up I was greeted by my salesman Scott Beebe, he walked me through some cars and asked what I liked and what I was looking for. He was extremely friendly and never pressured me into anything. After we decided that I loved the look of the new Jetta we went inside to find a price that would work for me, and they let me take it on a test drive to make sure I loved it. I even got the windows tinted for free and it looks gorgeous. I told them my budget and what I was looking to pay and they made the numbers work for me and my payment is almost exactly what I was planning on paying for it. I recommend taking advantage of their Term Care package, it is only a little more a month and it covers most things that all other warranties won't because it's defined normal "wear and tear." Scott Becker was my financial guy and he answered all my questions, until I was 100% confident with everything. My parents were a little skeptical and thought the deal was too good to be true. So the following day my dad and I went back and Scott walked him through everything and made sure that he understood the details as well. Me and my dad just absolutely loved him, he knows everything possible and explains it perfectly. He even contacted me later to make sure that we were both comfortable with everything or if I had any more questions and I was happy with my new car. My insurance even required my dad to be on the contract in order for me to be on his insurance. So Scott called my dad the very next day and got him information and wrote up a new contract for me with his name and information on it, even though it was his day off. If that isn't impeccable customer service I don't know what is. I have been followed up with twice to make sure everything is going perfect, they just really take care of you and make sure you are satisfied. From beginning to end it was just a really good experience and I love my 2014 Jetta. Make sure you ask for Scott Becker he really is amazing, super friendly, and knows his job inside and out. He is "the man" when it comes to financing!

My wife and I came to Southtowne with the idea that we might buy a new car. After walking around for a few minutes, Mujo Kuburic approached us. He was very helpful and we felt at ease with him. My brother-in-law used to work for this dealership, so he asked me to look up a friend of his (Bo Atkins). Bo was awesome, and was very friendly, but was busy working with a couple other people, which was just fine. I got to work with Scot Maxwell, and that was a great experience. We had a great time looking for a car that would be perfect for me, went on a couple test drives, and then made several offers back and forth. I've wanted to buy the passat tdi, but didn't think I could afford it. So I settled for the Jetta tdi instead, it was a great car, excellent gas mileage. On a trip to vegas, my wife and I averaged 49.5 mph, but on a recent trip to get an oil change, I noticed passat tdi's in the southtowne parking lot, so I enquired out of curiosity if I could afford it or not. My salesman was a young guy by the name Nick Klunker, an interesting name for a car salesmen I know! I was very impressed with the non- pressurising way in which he dealt with us, and how he listened carefully to what we wanted and to our price limitations. I was just impressed overall with our experience there, and also with the financial guy who genuinely wanted to work with us, we told them both what we could afford, and they come up with the number at the first attempt. No wrangling or pulling teeth. So much to our surprise and to our friends when we got home, we left with a brand new passat tdi 2013. Saying goodbye to my 2012 Jetta with some sorrow, for it had been a good car for me. Thanks to Nick klunker and to the finance guy for working with us and making this possible!

The sales and finance guys at VW have always been awesome. This is the second time I've been here and they have worked out the best deals and gotten me exactly what I need and want! Much less stress than other dealerships!

Excellent and quick service. The premisies was clean and bright. The selection of vehicles was extensive, the sun was shining and there weren't many clouds. I dont like surveys that demand a minimum number of words.

I bought a mini cooper last year from this dealership for my son. It was a manual transmission and he is leaving for two years so I decided to get my dream car--a vw bug convertible. I came back to the same sales associate-Cody Nelson and he helped me try different bugs. I wanted a specific color and they searched for it and found the car. We negotiated the trade in on my mini and made the sale.

I arrived and waited about 5 minutes to talk to a salesman. Scot arrived and was very helpful showing me exaclty what I wanted. We went on a brief testdrive and came back and talked about what it would take to get me to buy today. Talked for a brief time and came to a good deal, made the transaction.

Our expereince in the dealership exceeded our expectations in every possible way. The staff was very corteous and patient, answering all our questions and queries. They offered us a deal that was affordable. We also came in for a trade-in and I couldn't have expected a better offer from any other dealership. They even helped us manage our tired 2 year old. Living behind the dealership I have seen the cash for clunkers sign on the building for a while. I do not have the best credit so I was skeptical about coming in but decided to call anyways. Service has been great and I am surprised I was able to get financing. Axel has answered every question I have had and made this a great experience for me.

I recently purchased a used car from Southtowne VW and Scot Maxwell and his partner David made this the most enjoyable car buying experience I have had. All my questions were answered clearly and the final negotiated price did not skyrocket after 3 days like my last 2 car purchases have. The energy and atmosphere in this facility is great and I will definitely be doing business with them in the future!

So far we are very pleased with the Passat and will would probably buy another Volts Wagon. South Town Volts Wagon is the best car buying experience we have ever had.

If your going to this dealership. BE AWARE the sales people are nice but when it comes down to sell the car. They will benefit themselves before you. Once you drive off the lot they don't care about anything else. Suggestion to avoid the problem is Do your homework and pick out the exact car you want and Kelley Blue Book and look online to make sure your not getting ripped off like I did.
