Bought a new Forester and both Mike, salesman, and Mike, finance person, were extremely helpful with process. When I picked up vehicle was amazed in how much detail Mike explained all the features and buttons on the car. Signing for the loan was very speedy as well as the Forester being registered and plates put on. All personal are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for great experience.

Subaru is a great auto and the staff is very friendly. I went to look...found a car i wanted, they even came down in price and did me a favor by holding it overnight. Then when I called and said It is a definite sale, they wanted the non refundable deposit from me. When I asked how soon I can get the car (they originally said the service garage was backed up and the car needed inspection etc...) they THEN told me :"Not until the last owner pays up their loan and clears the title." There is NO clear title but they want an non- refundable deposit on a car they can't even sell legally yet...I do NOT care how business is done...I don't do it that way. They lost the sale AND a customer.

It was a pleasure dealing with Johnson Subaru,the dealership is great.there was no hassle, when I get there the vehicle was ready,all the paperwork was completed and the Outback was ready to be delivered. The Outback was in immaculate condition.The demonstration and detail explanation of all the features were superb.Previously I dealt with four other dealerships and none came close to Johnson Subaru. Terrible dealer. Our family has owned 4 Subarus in the household in the past 6-7 years and trusts the cars so we're forced to see the dealerships. When my father went to take a tour of a used 2014 Wrx, you wouldn't believe how bad Johnston's was or how difficult to deal with they can be. First he makes an appointment for 6:30 pm where I know that may be late, but they had all day to see this appointment online and get the car ready, but it is what it is and when he showed up it was not only not out front or in the main lot ready, it is 4 cars deep behind the building where the dealer told him they could not retrieve it tonite to test drive, even though he made the appointment. This was all besides the plenty of times we have been by to notice that you have to drag an associate out of their chair to get their attention because they're always "too busy" or inside without a customer.(This is for the SALES STAFF, the SERVICE AND RECEPTION IS AND HAS BEEN GREAT) Now onto the car itself... He went to check out the used 14 Wrx to upgrade from an 09 wrx and as he is finally going over the car (on paper)with a sales associate, he looks over the carfax and thinks the car is perfect. With the carfax and no problems, the car should be fine... But no as the dealer and my father start to look over the service records he notices MAJOR records that the sales associate did not see and had never known of, at least seemingly to my father's knowledge, that it says the transmission on the car had been replaced but it was not stated on the carfax. This was brought up as a question and the dealer seemed very questionable until he asked their mechanic who undoubtedly assured him it had a brand new transmission. This was also a note on the service record right before it states the car had a running problem where it could not be put into 5th gear and then no issues or problems were address or fixed according to any of the records. This was also along with various notes such as missing turbo heat shield, missing wires etc. The car is a sports car so small discrepancies are understandable, but none of these are. Then to make matters worse the associate and my father start to go over numbers for a trade in on his vehicle which he has every single record from a Subaru dealer since he bought the car and all the regular maintenance done on a commuter only car in great condition besides scratches to the interior of the trunk and was offered $2000 less than the Kelly Blue Book value for a "good" trade in and $1500 less than what was offered at Bill Kolb Jr Subaru the night before. Even worse.... They started to talk about how the car would be to buy outright in which my father had known the price monthly before coming so he couldn't be swindled or tricked, and the number was $80 a month higher by the associate and my father knew he was wrong. He questioned him until the associate checked his numbers with another associated or whoever it was to confirm my father's numbers were right. So please do not come here, they will first ignore you, then try to trick you, then tell you you're wrong and tell you what you have is worthless! And sometimes they put whatever picture they want up online for the car and end up having a picture of a wrx with the big hood scoop under the 2.0i impreza! I know because I've been looking for deals for years.

I leased a Subaru Legacy on July 21, 2016. Love the car but trying to get the store to get the correct information to my insurance company has just been horrible. Spoke to the Sales Manager yesterday, said he would take care of it and get right back to me. I have not heard from him. Still have not received my registration. It seems you get car at Johnstons and you leave the building..and no one cares or follows up. Really disappointed.

I went to pick my daughter up from her service appointment at this dealership. She loves her Subaru ! I had been driving a 2013 Ford Escape and had been having countless issues with it breaking down on the highway. My daughter convinced me to just test drive the 2016 Outback. I was lucky enough to have Dylan take me on that drive! His knowledgable, no pressure help really made me get rid of my ford and into a Subaru! He was really terrific! And now, I have to say.. I love the car! He showed me what a good car it was, and every day and road trip proves him right! And Karen sealed the financing with expert ability! Thank you!

I went to Subaru with the intentions of having the oil changed on my 2014 Legacy Limited. While I loved my Legacy if found that I needed something more utilitarian. I then went to someone in finance and asked her if there was a possibility of turning my lease in early. She told me that I could do that and introduced me to Dylan Vitale. Dylan asked me what I was interested in and I told him that the Outback seemed to be a better fit for me. He showed me a car that was on the lot, which I fell in love with, and he started to crunch numbers. He came up with a figure that was beyond what I was willing to pay so I told him basically thanks but no thanks. Dylan then told me in a very professional way that the numbers that he gave me was all that he could do but if I was interested he could go to someone at a higher level to see if they could do better. In a few minutes he came back with another offer that was within my ball park. If Dylan had been pushy I would never had stuck around. He was professional and accurate with his figures. After I decided to accept the offer Dylan handled everything else as calmly and a quickly as possible. In addition to Dylan, and forgive me for not remembering other names of the people that assisted me while I was there, everyone that I dealt with was absolutely top notch. This was the 4th car that I either purchased or leased from Subaru, (2) of which were under the ownership of Johnston. As far as I am concerned I will be back again in the future to purchase again. I was considering purchasing a Subaru Legacy and went to Johnston's to test drive one. I was greeted at the door by a most accommodating young man, Dylan Vitale. He listened to my concerns and WAS NOT PUSHY, which I liked. Dylan was well informed, and offered me what I believe to be a fair price, on a certified used Legacy, without any haggling. He was very polite, patient, and explained things well. I have only had the car for two weeks, and have called Dylan subsequently with silly questions. He has promptly replied and continues to be most helpful. So far, I have only positive things to say about my dealings with Johnston's. I would rate Dylan as an excellent salesman, and Ray in finance as equally professional , but since my experience has been limited, I am (for now) withholding a 5 star rating of the entire dealership.

Best experience ever buying a new car! Don, Roger and Karen were knowledgable and professional in completing not only a painless transaction, but what turned out to be an actually pleasant experience including test driving, pricing, and financing. Best part is it all took about an hour. Buying a new car was never this easy. I walked out feeling great! Never felt this way about buying a car in NJ. Was worth every minute of the hour drive from Bergen County. Would absolutely highly recommend Johnstons dealership compared to the Bergen County, NJ Subaru and Toyota dealers I met with.

While not having purchased a car in ten years, I did my research and knew I wanted a Subaru Impreza. I went straight to Johnstons and was introduced to Dylan Vitale, who sold me my amazing, beautiful Subaru Impreza. I test drove on a Thursday evening and was driving my new car off the lot by Saturday morning! Dylan's sales approach is extremely informative, no-pressure, friendly and helpful. He followed up with me very soon after my purchase and I know I can contact him with any questions I may have at any time. He even set up my first service appointment for the future! We had to get our Forester engine replaced under warranty. They had the engine in only 2 days. We got a loaner of our choice, a crosstrek no questions asked. 5 days later the engine is installed and we were on our way home. Everyone is very helpful that works there. I recommend Johnstons subaru to all my friends.

My experience was far exceeded at Johnstons Subaru! It was Dylan Vitale who made that experience so awesome. Dylan was very knowledgeable and wanted to make sure that we were not pressured into a deal that didnt fit our budget. But he wanted us in the car we felt most comfortable in. Bought a new 2014 Outback in July of 2014. I have only had my car serviced through Jonstons where I bought the car. I noticed the battery was or had leaked battery acid & I was having issues with the car starting. Sometimes turning the key 4 times....not normal for a new car. I had to bring the battery leakage to their attention and then asked that they replace the battery. They at first told me it was not possible as the battery was working properly. While "discussing" the matter, the service manager proceeded to say that it looks like they "washed" cleaned up the car for me....Ah, No, I don't think so I said...I just had it washed the day before!!! Some nerve! They did "good customer" my battery after they asked where I had been having my car serviced...really, I said...well I have only had it serviced here so shouldn't you have been checking the battery on your service checklist when my car was being serviced? So moving on...my lumbar broke in the driver's seat. I brought it back for the repair....ah what do I find after leaving but that they broke the back of my drivers seat(the plastic cover)and it still had greasy handprints on it! The service manager would not return our calls, I finally got Mo they only nice service lady, she ordered the part. I called for an "appointment" and here I sit on a Saturday morning. I checked in my car and the guy says..it might be awhile we have a lot of people here this morning. Ah, you told me I had to make an appointment for the repair. I love my Subaru drives but after this repair...I am done with Johnstons Subaru for service! This place can't run off of Mo being the only one who cares about the customers.

Bought a Certified Pre Owned Subaru from Johnstons Subaru September 2014. Driving the car back i noticed the cars alignment was out of wack and tires had a bad vibration. Brought it into a local shop to check and it needed an alignment(which I was told was just done with putting new tires on it before purchase) and that 3 out of 4 were severely bent. I didn't get reimbursed for the alignment to be done correctly but did reimburse me for having to buy new rims that weren't bent. In 2015 the car went in because the head gaskets were leaking , mind I am a mechanic,and was told that its not covered because they are only seeping. After 2 trips about this issue I went to a local Subaru dealership and they did the warrantee work and replaced the head gaskets, I was getting oil stains on my driveway for month while Johnstons said is was only seeping. About 2 weeks ago I went to see how much it was worth for a trade in to get a bigger Subaru and was then told this car has 4 counts of ODOMETER FRAUD and that my car isn't worth much because of it. I called Johnstons and was told there's nothing wrong and is a mileage error on carfax. I called carfax and they told me thats the mileage reported from the state inspection stations indicating the odometer fraud. When I bought the car NO ONE told me there was odometer fraud and I wouldn't have bought the car knowing this. So BUYER BEWARE. This car I bought for 14xxx is now hard to sell ever with this carfax and BEING LIED TO

Went there knowing which model I wanted. Done plenty of research. Just had to test drive it to be sure I liked it. As well as make sure financially I could afford it. Everyone I dealt with was very friendly, helpful and personable. Receptionist, sales,financial people all very professional and friendly. I had ordered extras such as hitch, and roof rack. Roof rack is on order, but hitch was installed before i took the car. I have no concerns on roof rack being installed in a timely manner. Although I didn't have to be "sold" a car since I knew what I wanted. My salesman was very helpful and informative on details. So my experience was great here.

Ordered an option to be installed. When I went to pick up the car it was not installed, Next day and after looking my original order I had to return to Johnston Subaru to have it installed. an employee told me it would take a couple of hours to get it done. After almost 45 minutes waiting I went to the lady in the service dept.to inquire how long would it take. she had not been informed, then she took my keys and told me she would take care. I arrived at the dealer at 11.20and, I am writing this at 12.30 and the car is not in the shop.

I went to Johnston's Subaru today to look at the 2016 WRX. I called on the phone and was connected to Stephon who affirmed they had one in stock. When I showed up he had the car pulled up, warmed up (it was freezing out), and ready for a test drive. He was very friendly and not pushy at all. After the test drive, he helped us run some numbers and he made a sale. We are both very happy with the buying experience provided to us today

We recently leased a new Subaru Imprezza. Our salesperson Stephan was friendly without being over bearing. He listened to our situation and got us a lease within our budget. He did not try to oversell us and his follow up and punctuality was excellent. I also thought the girl in finance Karen was also deserving of five stars. She was also professional and friendly and was very reassuring in respect to any problems that may come up.

It's been over a year since I bought my Subaru in Middletown. I went in to get one model and thought I was talked into another. From what friends/family say I was talked into a specific car. I was naive/stupid/honest with the salesperson. I had numerous medical/personal/employment problems in my life and explained the situation to the salesman. I guess I was stupid. I looked for an honest person. A year before buying my car, I had gone to Subaru (under another owner) and was given honest/fair treatment. Unfortunately, things happened to prevent my buying at the time. When I went back the salesmen I spoke to were not there. First clue. When I went to pick up my car it died. I was stupid and should have walked out but came back for the car. Also, once the papers were signed salesman and supposed manager were very disrespectful. I was also overcharged at least twice and had to have changes made. I was never sent a customer review. If one was entered, it was not mine. I might buy another Subaru, but not from Johnston. Funny thing happened first time I went for gas. I couldn't find how to open tank. A woman with a Subaru helped me. She liked her Subaru and said she heard unfavorable things about Johnston since it took over. I am stupid and trusting and would love to find an honest person in this world - evidently not at Johnston.

I drive a 2006 WRX and managed to crack my radiator somehow, went to Johnston's to get it replaced under my warrantee because they are closer to where I live. They not only quoted me for the aftermarket radiator but with a load of unnecessary replacements as well, like the hoses (perfectly fine) and then the head gasket, then trans cooler lines to radiator, then drive belts, then power steering flush. I couldnt believe they had the audacity to tell me i needed these parts replaced when they work perfectly fine, mind you my car is only at 60k miles. I imagine they do this to people all of the time, stay FAR away from them. If you are getting something done thats more than an oil change, get in touch with your local non-corporate subaru mechanic.

I recently purchased my first Subaru Forester after being a Honda owner for many years. The new style of the 2016 Forester is what caught my eye and brought me in as my CRV lease was coming to an end. I was very impressed with the Forester, the ride and handling, the options available and the down to earth sales people at Johnstons. I especially want to thank our salesman, Ray, he wasn't pushy and helped us find what we were looking for. And Alfredo for stepping in to help us when Ray was with another customer on our return visit. And I don't want to forget AJ for finding me the best finance deal for my purchase. Overall this was the best car buying experience I can ever remember and I have dealt with many different car dealerships. I've only had my Forester for a week and love it! I must say that I was quite shocked at the reviews posted here. Although, I am a strong believer that people post their reviews quicker when they are not happy with a service, but this review is not the case, for it is a positive one. I had one of the BEST buying experiences at Johnstons Subaru. I even drove well over an hour to get there, knowing that they were the only pre-owned certified Subaru dealership in my area that actually had more than one vehicle I wanted to look at; all other dealerships had nothing for me. Brianna McLeod, in Business development, contacted me about my inquiry on a specific vehicle and she was about to get the ball rolling, so to speak. She was very professional and answered my questions perfect when I called her. She set me up with an appointment and I was on my way that weekend. My sales man, Adam Bobish was amazing! He was down to earth and acted like a human and not just a salesman trying to get me to buy. On those words, he was also incredible at his job and he knew the vehicle front to back and was able to show me everything inside and out before I even came to a conclusion: WITHOUT any pressure to sell me. I was really nervous since I was buying a new vehicle after so many years, but after a while, he really made me feel calm and relaxed. Karen Desmond, in finance, was very warm and welcoming and I felt very comfortable seeing my final numbers and she explained everything in detail. It was such a smooth transaction I was in complete shock of how fast it really went. They gave me a great trade-in value on my Jeep and the monthly payment was perfect. I also was hoping to be able to take my vehicle off the lot that day, being I was trading my Jeep in and I lived over an hour away. Dave Sobel, the Sales Manager, made this happen within seconds and I couldnt have been more appreciative not to have to drive back up to get my vehicle, being I have small children. I even got to meet the Owner/President of Johnstons Subaru, Steve Jardine and was able to thank him for everything that day and he was such a good-natured person, that I can see why his staff are so pleasant to deal with. It was just the best experience ever and this is my 4th vehicle purchase in my life, and none compare. I drove home a happy camper and almost a week later, I knew I made the best decision for not only me, but the safety of my family.

My experience and 2 other friends went to Johnson Subaru to purchase new Subaru's and sales person was nice BUT, their price was over 1000.00 more than i and my 2 friends paid for same car same options at another dealer 40 miles away. Went to Johnston Subaru for an oil change. Whoever did the work forgot to tighten the drain plug and about a quart leaked out. Luckily I discovered the loose plug before it all leaked out and destroyed the engine. Live and learn.

I had been to other Subaru dealerships and always left feeling anxious due to their pushy environments but Johnstons Subaru is nothing like that. Since this was my first new car, I had a lot of questions and concerns. They worked with me and answered all of my questions throughout the car buying process. The staff is really friendly and concerned with your experience. I read the reviews below and feel a little baffled because my experience was nothing short of exceptional. My salesman was Adam Bobish and he wasn't pushy at all and made me feel both comfortable and confident in choosing to do business with Johnstons Subaru. He was extremely competent and knew the ins and outs of the vehicle I wanted to buy. The sales manager, Christopher Lee, helped me finish my paperwork the day I picked up my car and he did a great job explaining everything to me. Additionally, the service department is absolutely terrific. The splash guards I ordered with my car were on back order when my car arrived and I had to come back to get them installed. I was treated very well from the service department. The man that installed the splash guards even took the time to show me them when he finished. Overall, I am very happy that I chose Johnstons Subaru over the other local Subaru dealerships.

If you want to spend 1000.00 more on a new Subaru Legacy go to johnson. I purchased a new Legacy and saved over 1000.00 and that is nice. I have two friends who went to johnson and they was not willing to match a better price. Their loss. Good luck in your looking for a new car.Mike Kaplan

This family, was fast friendly and efficient, I loved working with them. They made buying a new car pleasurable, I would recommend them to anyone. The whole team was very helpful, listened to what I wanted in my new vehicle and got me into my dream car.

Tried to buy a car from these folks. The sales staff was confused. We were passed back and forth between several associates, none of whom could answer questions about the various features on different models. There were no straight answers about price or financing, so we left after having wasted the better part of an afternoon. Ended up driving two counties down to make our purchase. Johnston's was a terrible dealership for Toyota in Sullivan County when they ripped off my friend and it is sad to see that they have encroached into the territory of my favorite brand. Incidentally, we just made our first appointment for Subaru service, and are planning an extra hour on the road each way to avoid them. Subaru has made a serious mistake handing over this territory to these dishonorable incompetents.

From the first moment stepping into the dealer I was lied to by an incompetent salesman, treated with disrespect by the manager and begged for a good review by the second salesman. The customer service was so bad I was told by the manager he doesn't need us, their are plenty of other people who will buy. If this is how a brand new dealership acts, I hope they don't last long.
