Charlies has great service!! I had been searching for a specific car in a specific color and I initially went to a dealership 5 minutes away from me. I did not get good service. The gentleman was condescending and rude. As a woman, I had done my homework on what car I wanted and what features. As a result of my poor treatment, I decided to drive over an hour to Charlies to find the exact car I wanted. Unfortunately, when I arrived, they no longer had the model I wanted in stock. All they had was an upgraded model that was going to cost more money. You can imagine my disappointment. But Kyle, my sales representative, was able to get me the upgraded model for the same price. I just moved to Maine and they made the car buying experience so easy and stress free. I drove home that night with my new car and I am loving it!! Thank you Kyle and the Charlies Subaru team for getting me into my new car.

When we decided to replace our 17 Forester XT with a 21 Forester I called literally every Subaru dealer in the state. Out of the dealers willing to sell for under MSRP, Jay at Charlie's quickly provided me with a quote that only one other dealer could get close to. Not only did Charlie's stick to their pricing during the ordering process, but they bent over backwards to make the experience one we were pleased with. Further, the trade value for our car was $7k over what the Saco dealer was willing to pay. I cannot stress enough how polite, honest, straightforward, and easy the buying process was at Charlie's.

SUBARU SERVICE DEPT. The service dept has to be commended for the attention to detail and courtesy that was extended to my wife and myself in trying to resolve an issue we had with a steering issue. We had bought a Certified Jeep only two weeks ago and it has been taken back a total of two times to have the steering wheel issue addressed. Subaru Service said they would do their utmost to rectify the issue. The vehicle was test driven before adjustments, and driven after adjustments and ended in a front tire rotation to assist eradicating the problem. Although not totally managing to completely restore it, ( steering wheel not being straight ) it was slightly better than it was before.

we decided to ride from Hampden to Augusta on a recommendation from a co-worker. I called the dealership the day before making the trip. Living in Maine, I have come to rely on the Subaru Outback for the car's road handling capabilities during the winter months. Every mechanic and tire guy I have ever spoken with has recommended Subaru, and the Outback specifically, highly. He and the entire sales team take a special interest in learning what you're looking for and finding the car that is just right for you. They are fair, polite and respectful......no pressure.....we've made purchases both with and without trade-ins and either way we feel we've been given a very fair deal. Bought a 2014 Forester recently but noticed an odd vibration & brought it back 2 days later to have service dept look at it. Ryan, my salesman, and Pat in service dept. couldn't have been nicer! We spent most of the day & several test drives figuring out that it was the tires, and I drove away happy & haven't had a problem since. Plus they had a driver bring me out to mall for lunch & shopping and then another driver pick me up back to Come back for another est drive. Entire staff friendly & helpful - highly recommend them!

We loved our Passat TDI, but wanted to unload it to get a more appropriate car for the winters here. And the fact that we'll never buy from those lying scoundrels at VW again. We had the fortune of dealing with Mark Eichenbaum from the get-go. Mark is a seasoned salesman that well understands how to build a relationship for the long haul. He's not going to push you into a car and certainly not going to push you into a car that you don't need. He'll give you his honest opinion though, which I appreciated. We may have decided to just keep our current car and he genuinely would've been fine with that. We're here to stay and it's likely we'll buy more cars. Mark's style of doing business pretty much assures that we'll come to see him first and that's a smart, win-win for everyone involved! Plus, you might even pick up a Baggler!

After visiting two other Subaru dealers in central Maine, Charlie's was the easiest to deal with. No pressure tactics, no misleading promises, and best of all, over $2000 less for the exact same vehicle.The vehicle came in when promised and was ready with a full tank of gas when we picked it up. Signing the papers was a breeze and Ryan took all the time we needed to demonstrate the features of our new Outback.The 2 hour ride to Augusta was worth it!

Our first Subaru from Charlie's was great and lasted 14 years and 245,000 miles with no major problems, so we knew we would get another from the same dealer. We were able to make a quick decision the same day we came to look at new cars largely because our sales representative, Chad Blethen, was courteous, friendly, and helpful without being the least "pushy" as some car salespersons we have dealt with in the past have been. We appreciated that he gave us the information we needed and answered all our questions without trying to influence our decision in any way, or pressure us into adding any extra accessories that we didn't need. After test-driving a couple of Foresters, we chose the model and color we wanted and got all the extras we needed, were happy with the price, and were owners of our beautiful new Forester that very same day.

Yesterday I traded in my 2003 Audi A6 for a 2015 Subaru Legacy. It's the best decision I've every made when buying a car. When we went to the dealership, we didn't know what we wanted. Our car was recently totaled but we weren't sure if we wanted some sort of hybrid (like the Prius) or an economy AWD drive (like the Impreza). Mark assured us that he can sell either car, but recommended certain cars that might fit our profile. He assured us that he does not get a higher pay rate for selling a more valuable or specific brand of car. After checking everything out, we decided to get a new Impreza because the fuel economy was vastly improved over older models. We are very happy with this second purchase from Charlie's and will likely be back again. As an aside, Mark was very friendly and not a typical high-pressure salesman.

When the underbody of my 1999 Subaru Impreza 2.5 S/R had rusted through to air, I no longer had the option of further repairs and prepared to say goodby to my old friend. Little did I know that the car was planning to die with its boots on and did so with black billowing smoke. Fortunately, I had just ordered a 2015 Forester Premium with the greatly appreciated assistance of Mark Eichenbaum at Charlie's Subaru. Having purchased an Impreza at Charlie's for my wife two years earlier I knew the process would be straightforward at Charlie's. This time, however, I used TrueCar.com and found the process even easier. With the knowledge of what a car together with specified options actually costs dealers, it was merely a matter of checking prices at the contending dealerships and factoring in convenience, past experiences, and availability. Even though it doesn't appear to participate in TrueCar.com's program, Charlie's offered a far lower price. Mark Eichenbaum was extremely pleasant, solicitous, accurate, and informative. On the day I picked up the car as scheduled, Mark spent more time reviewing its operations with me than all previous such sessions summed together over my 40 years of car purchases. I really can't say enough good things about the process. In subsequently dealing with Mark's colleagues to finalize the sale, it took no more than 10 minutes to complete the paper work and drive off.

My amazing 2005 Subaru Outback eventually pooped out on me with over 220,000 miles. I went to another local dealer to trade my car in. They were not helpful and would not budge or even get me into an Outback. I called Charlies and was given Mark Eichenbaum as a salesman. He was awesome. Right away and over the phone he got me into a new 2014 Outback. He drove 20 miles to pick me up and bring me to the dealership to get my car. He was so pleasant and his voice and demeanor were so comforting...I knew I was going to be taken care of. About a month later I decided I wanted to upgrade my car to the next level. Mark helped make that transition quick,easy and possible. Along with the help of Doug Jurdak, the store manager and Brad Laliberte, the sales manager and Kasey DiBenedetti, the finance manager....my visit and experience was top rated. Other dealerships were vague about my trade-in value, final price, and what was available. My latest purchase a 2015 Forester was straightforward, no doubletalk, good trade-in value up front, and fair price. Everyone uses the internet these days and the mystery of new car buying is gone. The product being what it is, a very good car all around, sells itself. So the rest of the buying experience is based on the people you deal with. After all the good and mostly bad things you hear about car salesmen, it was a surprise to deal with someone that did not fit the negative car salesmen stereo type. I feel I am a fairly educated and competent consumer. And I know the dealer, salesmen etc. need to make some kind of financial progress. So it was great to go there and not feel that they were just after my wallet. Mark was patient and understanding, not pushy, listened and did what we felt was his best in helping pick what we could afford and suited our prerequisites. The rest of the Charlie's dealer staff was as pleasent and helpful as can be. When the time comes for another car, I will return to these same people.

My wife and I spent 3 days working with them. Started well but at the end it was a total waste of time. Will not deal at all on price. It is the sticker price or the highway. Salesman at the Subaru dealership was very sharp on the details on the vehicles. The sales manager okay but the finance manager was very rude, very condescending and made it quite clear it was his way or the highway. We chose the highway. We hung a left and headed to Evergreen Subaru. Now have 2 of their vehicles in our driveway

I was looking at a Subaru Forester in the showroom while waiting for my 2005 Subaru Legacy to be fixed. I am a 73-year-old woman. Most of the young to middle-aged salesmen in the showroom just ignored me, as they had the last several times I had been in. Mark was smart enough and experienced enough to ascertain that I might be seriously interested, and thus he approached me. I told him I would be buying my last car sometime in the coming year. I also told him that I carefully read Consumer Reports every month (since the mid 60's) and knew that the newest issue (just out) had given the Forester a very good rating. I also explained that I was now interested in the Forester because the current Legacy had grown too large for my garage doors.He listened to me and did not try to argue with me about anything. He gave me a test drive and showed me the tight turning radius, which I liked. His was a very soft but informed sell, and in another hour or so I had decided to go ahead and buy the car now instead of waiting for a year. I also firmly said I wanted a red car, not white, black, or dark blue. They went overnight to Vermont to bring back a lovely red one.Mark has also been exceptionally helpful, even down to putting on the new license plates once I had gotten them. He has spent a fair amount of time (most of the first day) demonstrating and explaining all the new features on this car that definitely did not exist in 2005.We are a Subaru family, having had at least one Subaru since they first came to Maine, and sometimes two or three. I can't imagine driving anything else in Maine.I also like the Subaru service department very much. Since I am a radical feminist, it pleases me that it is run very well by competent females. And it is clean and comfortable, and equipped with food and drink.

We have purchased new vehicles for over 50 years and this is the first time we have dealt with a salesman (Mark) who had an extensive knowledge of the vehicle he sold us. Every salesman should be as knowledgeable as Mark and as personable. What a great experience. George, the sales manager, was exceptional to deal with also. The finance person who did the paperwork was very thorough and explained everything well also. I wish to recognize people behind the scenes also that made everything happen so quickly. What a great team. I don't think I could drive by the dealership and not stop in and say hello. It is a family!!

My experience with Charlies Subaru was a good one. I went looking for a car and they did there best to get me into a car that would work well for me. the length of time that it takes to go in and find what you are looking for takes a bit longer than I like but they did do everything they could to get me what I wanted for a car and into the payment that I was comfortable with. I am definitely going back for my next car.

I was looking to purchase a new vehicle late last year, and I researched cars and dealerships available in my area. I found some acceptable deals, but I wasnt entirely happy. My cousin suggested I look into Charlies Motor Mall in Augusta. This cousin has bought cars there for years, for himself and for his daughter. I went to check it out. Because I do a lot of driving in all weather, I wanted an all-wheel drive vehicle, and I decided on a Subaru, since these vehicles offer excellent all-wheel drive and traction control even on the most basic models. Heated seats come standard on all models, too, whereas you need to go over $35,000 to get all-wheel and heated seats from most manufacturers. I went to Charlies website and started a dialog with sales. I met sales rep Mark Eichenbaum through email, and he assured me that they had just the vehicle I was looking for. I went down to look at the car, a 2014 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium, and Mark walked me around it explaining all its many features. There was a lot I knew about the car already, but Mark more than just filled in a few blanks for me, and he was able to answer every question I had in as much detail as I needed. After a test drive, I knew it was for me, if the price was right.Later, Mark got the finance people involved, and they all went the extra mile for me. I decided to give the dealership financing a shot, and when I wasnt happy with the first banks offer the finance department submitted the loan request to other banks and credit unions that they work through. I was a tough customer to satisfy, and I began to think that no bank would agree to the terms I was willing to put up. But Mark and finance wouldnt quit, and after contacting nearly 20 banks an offer was agreed upon that everyone was happy with.Mark then helped me to hook up the Bluetooth in the vehicle, walking me through the process. I drove away a happy customer. Since then Ive gotten the first oil change, and, again, the service was excellent. I called the service department one morning when I had to be in Augusta anyway, and they said sure, bring it in in an hour and we can get it back to you in 45 minutes. It was done. Very nice. I have no complaints about the any department at Charlies, nor about the vehicle. I recommend them.

Charlie's Subaru in Augusta is the best place to buy a vehicle. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly and very honest. I was fortunate to have Mark "Baggler" as the sales associate the night I bought by Crosstrek. My fiance' and I were very impressed with his patience and willingness to go above and beyond to make sure that I was satisfied with my purchase. The buying process, though lengthy, was made easy and effortless (and occasionally comedic) by Baggler and other Charlie's personnel. I drove off the lot with the perfect car and feeling extremely satisfied with my experience at Charlie's. I have shopped around other dealerships for many months now, and by far the best experience was at Charlie's in Augusta. Tony, in finance, lightened the documentation portion of the evening by saying, "Congratulations, you just spent a whole lot of money." He was, in fact correct, however it was the best money I have ever spent. I plan to return to Charlie's for as many oil changes as possible and for whatever maintenance necessary to keep my Crosstrek running like new for it's entire life. I think it makes a statement when I will travel 4 hours to a specific dealer/service center because of the service and environment at Charlie's. I cannot say enough about Baggler and Charlie's in general. Good people, great service, fabulous cars.

Brought my Impreza Outback Sport with 40K miles on it for oil/filter change and inspection. They told me I was due for tire rotation so I said sure do that too. An hour later, I get a call telling me I need rear brakes to pass inspection, front brake pads are thin, and some cabin air filter needed changing. Seriously? I didn't even ask them to look at that. Not wanting to parade my car around with a sliced inspection sticker, I reluctantly agreed to have the rear brakes done for the quoted price of $280, along with the oil/filter, sticker, and tire rotation. When I picked up the car, they didn't even want me to look at the bill before paying it; only provided a cursory glance. Seeing how they were trying to get me to part with well over $400, I wanted to take a closer look at it. "Oh you'll get a copy." "But I want to see it before you swipe my credit card please." She reluctantly passed it to me. I could see that the parts and labor for the brake job came to a total that was much higher than the $280 quoted. The checkout girl tried to convince me it was fine, but I would not buy it. She got the service manager, who walked away, then came back with an amended bill. Turned out they were going to charge me labor for resurfacing the rotors PLUS the parts and labor for replacing the rotors!! Sorry, Charlie, you either resurfaced them or replaced them. You didn't do both.They tried to pass it off as an oversight. I am not convinced, and am glad I looked at and questioned the bill. I will never set foot at that dealership again.

I am From The Rockland area and purchased a new Nissan Titan from Charlies This November. Jeremy was my sales Rep, and What a great experiance it was. I always thought that Buying a new vehicle would be a hassle and surley not and enjoyable experiance. Needless to say i was wrong. Charlie's family of dealerships is a wounderful place to buy a vehicle. They were Friendly, attentive, and very competative with their prices, And what a great selection of new and pre-owned vehicles. I wouldnt buy from any other dealership. Dealership pulled typical bait and switch on very informed consumer!I researched an outback sport, accessories, sticker, dealer holdbacks, etc. Drove every Subaru model twice before presenting an exact specification from the Subaru web site to nine Maine dealers. Charlies was aggressive, instantly matching the best deal I had and quoting well on accessories. Other dealers questioned just how good the deal is. So I questioned the deal twice and asked for the deal to have all paperwork drafted to "force the issue". Twice my sales person said that all numbers, features, etc were correct and final. When I called to finalized deal, only the "manager was available". But he assured me that he "was involved in all pricing aspects of this vehicle pricing with my sales person". So I proceeded to try to get the paper work done and the car delivered to me....Suddenly he needed to make sure everything was there "for my best interest" and to "make sure that "all the T's are crossed", etc. Well, guess what....1500 dollars more later, he found a few "mistakes".Would you do business with a dealer that bait and switched after I already tried to question the deal several times?Charlies was too aggressive to be true and confirmed it in emails twice...that amounts to misrepresentation to the consumer, outright bait and switching the deal or just having a lousy business model that can quote vehicles.Admittedly I was streamed because I had shut down my other deals that were close. The manager Brad, called me a "telephone tough guy" and that "Charlies had lawyers for this kind of thing."I guess Charlies needs those lawyers a lot, considering my experience.
