Been to this service department 2 times - for basic maintenance on a BRAND NEW kia I bought. Both times they have lied to me about what they did to the car - not doing what they charged me for - and doing more than I asked for and expecting me to pay for it. I will not go back. Sure, everybody has a bad day - but fool me twice - shame on me... While i was in there, they tried to sell another lady 4 new tires cause hers were bald... but she had just had NEW ones installed - THEY LIE!

Almost bought a Durango base until I met these two who had a Limited for the same price. They were extremely helpful, friendly, honest, fast, helpful, etc. I recommend seeing them at SMK before your next purchase just in case!

This is our third Kia Optima from Shawnee Mission Kia. A dealership is only good as their service department. That means this dealership is not worth a xxxx. We live an hour and a half away. Every time we schedule service they are booked up a week ahead. That's just not working out for us so I guess we won't be buying another Kia

This is the worst buying experience I've ever experienced. The staff was pleasant and helpful at first, I purchased the exact car I wanted, and loved it. The day after I got it home I was trying to learn how to use many of the special features the car had, thats when I realized it didn't. I called the dealership, they admitted the mistake, and had me come in. The sales person felt terrible, the management didn't seem to care. They offered nothing in return. The options that were missing totaled around 5 grand according to options listed on the paperwork. I felt like I had been mislead & cheated, so I returned the car.

The buying process was quick and painless. The after care is HORRIBLE!! My car was deemed a total loss. I contacted the finance department to get documents needed for gap claim. Was told to come to the dealership and they would give me the documents. I get to the dealership and get told gap has to send me paperwork before cancelling the service contract. So I wasted an hour and a half of vacation time for nothing. I told Ed in finance what I needed. He argued with me and told me I didn't need all that. He called gap while I was there for them to "walk me through things". Not once did he ask about needed documents. Three days later Gap is still requesting the documents I asked for. Called the dealership and spoke with Ed. He faxed documents, but gap says "they are too blury". Called and spoke with someone in finance dept 10-28-16 to request the documents be sent to me so that I can submit them. I am told "we have current customers and this isn't important". Now I will have wasted more time to go to the dealership to get the documents I need. Not only have they lost another sale but I will continue to spread the word on how horrible their after care is to customers. It is unprofessional to be told you're not important and it's just bad business. I suggest you go to a different Kia dealer if you are looking for a Kia.

My daughter and i bought a car from them a few months ago. The sales guy Jose sold us a car that we wanted and told us a price. After the paperwork was done we noticed things didnt add up. They sold us another car. To make everything right they offered 2 years free oil changes and fuel every time we brought the car back. Well needless to say they lied about it all and they even know the sales guy has done this before but yet does nothing about it. They allow the sales guys to lie to customers just to get the sale. My daughter is in college and couldnt afford the extra 2000 but she did it because of the other perks gained just to watch them lie. Then to top it off they claim the car was certified but after we left the first day we picked it up the car was shaking to the point it felt like we had 4 flat tires. Took it to the shop and it had several problems and they had to go back and fix everything. They put my daughter and others in danger just to make a sale. That is so sad. Never will we ever think about buying from them. They are frauds and LIERS.

It's been 15 years since we were in the market for a car and a large part of that is due to the intimidating market place. We stopped in at Shawness Mission KIA by pure impulse, not expecting to find anything on our first stop much less buy. We were very cordially greeted by Ron Johnson. After a brief discussion of our needs and budget Ron directed us immediately to the car we purchased. Although a used car we received top notich care and consideration every step of the way to include unlimited access to Ron by phone. Upon pick up of our 2013 Sportage we were delighted to see that no detail was missed in it's preparation - right down to new wiper blades and a full tank of gas! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Shawnee Mission KIA to anyone in the market for a new or used vehilce. I went in to purchase a used car this past Sunday and had a awful experience. I fell in love with a Kia Soul in brown which is what I was not expecting at all. . I did love this car, however, there was a crack in the windshield (I don't know how it made it on the lot in the first place without being fixed) and dents and scratches all over it. We asked to lower the price due to the damage and was told no. That's not even the reason I am upset. Now I don't have very good credit and I had a co-signer but we were in the dealership from noon to 3:45 and walked out being told "we will call you tomorrow morning when we talk to a rep at the bank" Long story short I did not receive a call In the morning so I touched base with my sales rep and he said he would keep me updated. My boyfriend also called around noon and they said they would call me back in a about an hour. I waited all day for them to call me and but give me an update but they never did.. I have decided to take my business elsewhere because no one could give me an answer if I was approved or not and they couldn't even bother to call to let me know what was going on. I felt like I was left in the dark.

Just purchased a new 2016 Soul from Earl Stephens at Shawnee Mission Kia...first let me say I hate dealing with car dealers and salespeople, but Earl changed that in a hurry. We drove 3 hours from Springfield to be treated right and fair...what a pleasure to work with Earl and all the staff at Shawnee Mission Kia. No pressure, they let me drive the transaction and provided me exactly what I asked for at the price I required. Excellent trade value on my trade in and they could not have been nicer...hands down the best experience I have ever had buying a new car. I highly recommend Earl Stephens to anyone, so much so I am driving the 6 hours round trip again on Saturday to take my parents up to deal with Earl for a second time and getting them set up with a new car as well...Way to go Earl and SM Kia, you have a customer for life in me!

Bad experience with the financing part - the actual salesperson was fine - the finance person Mr. Miller was rude - we ended up being late to pay our taxes because the title was late - when we called to ask when it would be there he called back the next day saying he never got our call and was initiating the process. He was short with us and didn't really go out of his way to help us get the process finished. I called to talk with the manager - Thompson I believe his name was who never called back - will not be buying from them again, nor will my three car aged buying children.

I want to start out by saying we drove from 2hrs away with a two year old. I called before hand and talked with Kenzel. He made that drive worth it. He really worked hard to get us a vehicle that fit our criteria. My wife can be a tough negotiator. Kenzel and his manager took her beating like champs, and in the end we ended up with a good deal. They was professional and was able to hold their composure without breaking a sweat.I say good deal because your never going to get a great deal at any dealership especially if your financing. This applies to all dealerships. They sale vehicles at market value. They are in the business to make money, your wanting to save money. You want a vehicle, they have vehicles. Salesmen want to make a good commission, you just want to save as much as possible and get the best deal you can. You see the conflict here? The best you can hope for in the end is a fair to good deal on a vehicle that fits you with little emotional and physical trauma in my opinion lol.That is exactly what Kenzel did, he made a often grueling, negative experience into a good one. He catered to our needs, was prompt with phone and text communications. Kenzel and the staff at Shawnee Mission Kia really went the extra mile to make the total experience enjoyable. If you walk in with realistic expectations and some patience you will walk out of this dealership with a good deal, especially if you get Kenzel.

I cant even put into words the horrible experience I have had over the last 6 months dealing with Shawnee Mission Kia. Over charged by thousands, Lost my title, Lost my old cars tags, under valued my old car, Couldn't figure out how not to charge me sales tax even with a trade in, new certified pre owned vehicle has never been certified and gone through the inspection. My sales person is no longer with the company and when I decided that this was not the deal for me they said too late your car is being purchased from one of the guys on our lot. So did you give me a crappy trade in value and over charge me so he could get a deal? I called Kia customer care and so far no one from the dealership even cared to call me back. Stay away from these guys they will take your money and Run. I went from a paid off 2011 Camaro to being upside down in my 2013 KIA that has more miles on it than my Camaro.

I needed an oil change and when I inquired with Michael about how long and how much as oil change will take and he replied about an hour. I agreed. TWO hours later my car was finally finished. Upon swiping my credit card we discovered that the credit card terminal was not accepting my card. Normally when a card is declined it is because there is not any money in the account, which is an embarrassing situation in itself, but that was not the case. However, the service staff lacked any sort of professionalism and every customer in or around the service area knew my card was declined. Next, after I got a hold of my bank, the customer service rep was trying to explain to Michael that my card was in good standing, he tried to re-boot the credit card terminal with no luck.I asked Michael where the nearest ATM machine was and I told him that I would run up there and bring back cash to pay for the oil change. He called over a porter to escort me to the ATM machine like I am some idiot criminal looking for a free oil change and not come back with money. Needless to say, they let customers drive off the lot with $50,000 cars all the time for test drives. That to me was so degrading and so belittling to me. Really? Is this how you treat your customers? So here I am having to be driven by a porter to an ATM machine to pull out money. Yes using the same card I got your money so that I could get my car back and prevent you from calling the police to track me down. The other problem is that I was not able to go to the bank of my choice thus having to pay an additional ATM use fee, which, by the way, I NEVER DO. Silas was incredibly helpful to my parents and I as we shopped for a used car to replace my older Pontiac. He was very courteous and knowledgeable about the make, models, and features that I was interested in pursuing. He was also very friendly to us throughout the whole process and gave us a fair price. The second we drove onto the lot, he was there to introduce himself and ask what I was looking for. Overall, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and he made this process run as smoothly as possible. Now I'm driving a 2013 Hyundai Sonata and couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this dealership and Silas in particular to anyone that is in the market for a new car.

I had a wonderful experience at Shawnee Mission Kia after much research and visits and test-drives at 2 other dealerships.When I arrived at the preowned car lot Robert Fells assisted me and my daughter in checking out the Sorento and taking a test-ride. He was very knowledgeable and low key in a way that made us feel very comfortable with him. He pointed out safety and convenience features that made the car very desireable. He was very thorough and was helpful in negotiating a purchase price. He delivered the car to me all shiny clean and helped program the blue tooth and garage door transmitter. I was ready to adopt him! I highly recommend working with Robert. He made a stressful process very manageable and enjoyable. I bought a 2016 Sorento today. This is my third Kia I have purchased from Shawnee Mission Kia and Tony Koehler. I am a no BS type of person when it comes to major purchases. I hate smoke and mirrors sales tactics and do not tolerate people that talk fast and want you to sign here. I do my research, I compare prices, and have a number I am looking for when I walk in to look at cars. If the first proposal is not close, I counter, and if we cannot get close I walk. Tony is 3 for 3 getting me a deal on a new car I consider both fair for the dealership and a good value for me the customer.I have always taken my Kia cars back to the dealership for service. The service department has taken good care of my cars, excellent service, fair prices, and offered some exceptional deals on tires and accessories.I have owned cars and trucks built by Ford, Chevy, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Dodge, Plymouth, Honda and Volkswagen over the years. With these vehicles there were some very good cars purchased as well as a few very bad experiences. One bad experience is all I need from a brand or dealership and its time to move on. I am very impressed with the Kia brand, the quality of the cars, and value for the money. When I need a car my first brand to look at is Kia, and the last dealership I visit is Shawnee Mission. Good deals and service keeps me coming back.

First I am a real customer. Not a fake profile. Had to say this because people just assume that such a great review would only come from a fake profile. OK so I have terrible and I mean terrible credit, but you wouldn't know that by the way they treated me and the time they spent helping get me into something reliable. My credit is in the low 400's but they treated me like I had an 850! (If that score is possible). Anyway, Dennis, Keelen, Frankie and John were great. I have to give Scott his credit too. So I live in STL and these were the only people who would help without screwing me over (Again). So there were a few mechanical issues with the car I bought that they could NOT have known about because they didn't show themselves until after I drove it home. I called on Sunday to tell them. Dennis offered to meet me in Columbia (half way) with a loaner and a gas card for the gas and take my car back and have it repaired! Do you believe this? Well I went ahead and just drove it back to them. I expected a crappy loaner car because of my credit. NOPE. They put me in a 2014 Soul as a loaner! I have never been so happy with a dealer and the service. My credit is my own fault from poor decisions. No one to blame and yet they treated me the same as they would any other customer. The only thing they didn't give me is the front little license plate placard on the car so I can advertise that I got my car from them! Seriously, give these folks a chance. Seriously.

My wife and I researched new Kia Optimas and were ready to purchase one. Shawnee Mission Kia had the lowest prices listed on their website. They listed a new Kia Optima for $16,977 that indicated the options on the car included a cargo net and carpeted floor mats. During the conversation with the salesman, he said we may want to buy a used car so that we don't have to pay the additional $1,895 for the required "Care" package on a new car. We asked if the Care package was required, and he said it was on every car. We asked if it was included in the price advertised on the website. He said he would check but that their intranet was down. We spent 30 minutes waiting with no answer. No test drive was offered. No clarification was given.We decided to leave, and as I told our salesman that we were leaving (he was in the office next door talking to co-workers while we waited), he jumped up and said that their intranet was just coming up.We declined and left. The next day he sent me an email stating that we acted in an "unprofessional" manner when we left him. I emailed the internet manager the next day and asked if the price of the car on the website was accurate. He responded "The price of the model you are interested in is $16,977 and all of our vehicles are equipped with the Kia care package...". I replied and asked if the "care package" was included in the $16,977 and then he finally confirmed that it is an additional $1,895, and that the car could not be purchased as advertised.He also sent me a price quote for the $16,997 advertised Optima that totaled $19,491.50!Read that again! They advertised the car for $16,977, but then said it costs $19,491.50!!! This is what they do on every vehicle. No other dealership in Kansas City does it.The next day, my wife and spent 90 minutes at Bob Sight Kia and purchased a new car for the discounted price that their website stated...no hidden fees at all, except for a $199 admin fee. It was a great experience, compared to the horrible experience at Shawnee Mission Kia.

This review goes out to Stefan!! When buying a car from a Dealership that you have never been to can be intimidating and scary. Actually, when a salesman comes out to confront you, you just don't know what your going to get. It's like a box of chocolates. You could get the "fruity" type, the "nut" type, the "mysterious" type or just a "plain" with no personality type of a salesman. We lucked out with the "mysterious" type of a salesman. Stefan has a personality to meet anyone's needs. He's a fountain of fun, playfulness, goofy, seriousness and an absolutely awesome listener. I had a major service (replacement of engine) and the service manger, Curt Ellerman, is trying to avoid paying for the loaner car he provided during my repair by not pacing the bill to Enterprise Rental and then asking them to collect on the customer directly. I paid over $7,500 for the service there and they still tried to push the loaner car bill on me. Do not take at face value anything you are told by the service department and deal with the GM directly because the service people will deceive you.

I called about an Optima around 9:00am and by late afternoon I was signing the deal!I called around 9am to inquire about a used 2015 Optima SXL that was listed for an amazing price and was assisted by Kenzel Simmons. Honestly, given our credit history, I really thought it was a no go. When I went down there to look at the car I was told by Bobby Harris, that I had already gotten a pre-approval based on the online credit app that I had filled out and Justin York in the finance department got me a far better rate than I would have anticipated, given our credit issues.Kenzel took very good care of us , answered all of our questions and even got approval for some nice extras that we didn't expect and at my request, he delivered the car to my house the next day.Kenzel was very upfront, professional and friendly, qualities that seem to be somewhat rare overall, let alone in this industry. The overall process was unbelievably easy and amazingly enough there were no "hoops" that we had to jump through.. Thanks to SM Kia, I got the car that I wanted, for a far better price than I would have imagined.

That's awesome you advertise 3 months on us AFTER we bought our vehicle from you. Just like you advertised an extended warranty to me right after I bought the car, letting me to assume it's a piece of xxxx. This is the final straw, you are getting a 1 review from me on every single site I can find to review you on. Tired of your xxxxxxxx, worst dealer I've ever been to. Oh and if you fall for the free oil change, beware, thats not free either! They will shake their heads and say "Who told you this" making you throw your salesman under the bus, then they will act like they are doing you a favor and give you it for free while scolding the salesman, all the while they have a sales man trying to sell you ANOTHER Kia while u wait.. This is a scam dealer, don't bother with them, I'll never go to them again, they had the chance to make a lifelong customer but they blew it.

I was over $8,000 upside down in my Fusion which I hated! I had been turned down by 2 other dealers due to negative equity. Somehow Rob pulled off not only getting me in a 2015 Sorento, but also kept my payment where I wanted and got my interest rate lowered from where it was. He was very professional. He didn't make me feel like I was stupid for having such negative equity like the other dealerships did. Plus he's not a Kentucky fan so he's awesome in my book!! I also worked with Kenzel Simmons who was equally awesome. His picture isn't listed on here yet, but I would recommend going to him for sales! He kept me in the loop and really went above and beyond to get me what I wanted.

I am a commuter, and spend 2 hours in my car every day. I actually came across Shawnee Mission Kia through an online ad. I was looking for a used Kia Soul. Joey Francis responded to my email right away. He answered ever question I had, through multiple emails, always responding to me quickly. I looked at a used car that afternoon, but just wasn't blown away by it. I wanted an exceptional used car. I went home to think about it and decided against the used car. Joey said he understood and thanked me. About 10 minutes later, he emailed me and asked me if I had considered a new Kia Soul. I responded that I didn't think that was possible on my budget. He ran the numbers and explained that I could get into a new Soul for just a little more than what I wanted to pay each month for a used one. I got to the dealership that afternoon and after a few hours, I left with my 2015 Kia Soul. It had been 27 years since I had purchased a new car, and I absolutely love it. It is such a pleasure to drive. I can't thank Joey enough for going that extra mile for me. I never thought I could afford a new car. I had this car one week and someone dented it. I made an appointment and took it back to Shawnee Mission Kia for an estimate. I dropped it off, they took me to work, did not overcharge me and I was back in business in one day. You can't even tell that it ever happened. I was so happy with that. I can't say enough good things about this dealership.

I have some credit issues . I will be the first to admit that. I made mistakes and I am working HARD to fix my mistakes. I decided to try to buy a more reliable car and saw SMK ads on TV. I make well over 250.00 per wk. I went on Saturday and talked to Scott in the used car dealership. As expected, my score was not good at all and I did not qualify for a traditional loan. I was told that the subprime/high risk lender they deal with (People's Choice) was not available on a Saturday after 3PM, but that Scott would call me Monday and that I would be approved since I made well over the 250.00/wk. Monday, no call. Tuesday afternoon, I call several times, I am transferred to the used car dealter and SEVERAL times, no one answers. FINALLY, I talk to Frankie who says that he would call me back in two hours with an answer. 3.5 hours, no call. I call back. Again, it takes me redialing 3 times to get an answer and I speak to another salesperson who says that they still do not have an answer, but he will call me back in 20 min. when he calls the lender to find out the status. 2 hours. No answer. Finally reached another salesperson who said they had not yet heard from the lender. Bottom line: Bad Credit =2nd Class Customer at Shawnee Mission Kia. I am NOT AT ALL upset that I might not be approved. I am upset that this dealer refuses to return call or keep customers updated on their status. I made my bed with my own credit. I accept that, but Please don't treat me like I am less of a person because I don't have an 865 FICO score. In reading any of these reviews that are NOT satisfactory, has anyone else noticed that this dealer ONLY responds to reviews that are favorable and not to those suggesting that maybe things could be done differently?

My wife and I went in to the dealership with full intentions of buying a car, as she had already sold her car earlier that day. We had a specific car in mind and had talked with the unorganized staff more than five times about the specific car. We were given verbal commitments of deals that could be worked out in order to get our business. We traveled over 2 hours with an infant just to find out the vehicle had been sold the night prior. I understand this happens, but there is no reason not to mention it when we spoke on the phone the day of driving up and even had an appointment scheduled. However this still is not the most frustrating part of our experience. That came in when our salesman tried to convince of going with another car, more miles, and higher price than the vehicle we went up for, and used the fact that it had "nitrogen tires" as if it was the greatest feature since Bluetooth. I don't like to have my time wasted, but most of all I despise being treated as an embasil. Nitrogen can be put in any tire and is not expensive at all to do. In conclusion, I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. It is unorganized and operates in a shady manner.

In a nut shell - they told me one thing (most likely to close the deal) yet did what was in their best interest financially after the fact. I returned a leased car, was told there would be no damage charges. Then, they decided to charge me $650 for damages, which I did not find out about until 6 weeks later. At the time I turned the car back in, which at the same time, I leased another KIA from them, I asked the salesman if we needed to inspect the returned leased car together for damages. He said no, that due to the loyalty program, damages, if there were any, are waived. BTW, the car was returned with less than normal wear and tear. Then, without me being present to inspect the car with them, they came up with $650 of damages. To add insult to injury, the dealership never notified me. I only found this out through KIA Finance, when I contacted them with questions about my new lease. I have called or emailed SM KIA 6 times in the past two weeks, and they still have not told me why they did what they did. Great car, dealership - find another one!

My wife & I traveled to this dealership based on this advertisement. We were up front with the sales person Joey Francis & sales director Bryan Dahms about our second year in chapter 13. We informed them we would need a proposal to give to our trustee for approval. We informed them of the vehicle our family was looking for. We went through the hassle of filling out the credit process and talking deals. They informed us they had a lender who works with chapter 13 and sent the proposal to our lawyer. Our lawyer showed us the proposal they had sent and was flabbergasted. They quoted a vehicle we did not agree upon and was not near the price range of monthly payment we had discussed in person. Joey assured us before we left the dealership that they would work to get the vechicle we discussed within our range and work with the trustee. Clearly that was not the case. Once we saw the proposal, my wife and I decided to go down to a cheaper model and asked them to submit a new one. They did not. They didn't return our calls or email, after this request. Then we got a letter 4 days later from a lender stating they rejected our application? Why the sudden change? Because we requested a cheaper vehicle. Why give us hope and turn about face? Because they lie. They only care about quotas and bottom dollar. Well happy to say my wife and I found another dealership (toyota) that really does have lenders to work with chapter 13 and I have a second vehicle to get to work and make our ch 13 payments!

I am very very disappointed with this dealership. Mr.Bryan Dahms and Mr. Pope how they went about handling business and failing to communicate any issues that may had arise with the bank or loan processor. They failed to return calls after I have reached out to sales rep (Tony Koehler) and Mr. Dahms whom I left a voice message in return to his call about any concerns...never mailed any notifications about anything being wrong...they just came to my house of residence on 02-25-15 to repo the car without any warning about what's going on...I had no clue of what was going on until the day they came and got the car....this is very bad business practice on their behalf and looking into finding a lawyer to sue them for their negligence. Also, for the embarrassment I'm feeling as if I've done something wrong, and for the pain & suffering I have to endure for having my transportation forfeited because of their own failures

On December 31st, 2014 we went car shopping with no intention of buying. We arrived at the KIA lot about 4pm. We were passed around from associate to associate, since they all had other customers that they were attending to. Which was a positive in our book; We don't buy cars from cherry pickers. We finally were placed with Earl Issac, who handled our situation with grace. It was nearing closing time of 6pm on New Years Eve, and he was about to head home to his wife, who was waiting. You want to know how I knew? He excused himself to call her, and say he would be a little late. Another positive! It says something about a man's character not to keep people, esspecially family waiting. Earl took us through the paperwork process to qualify us, then on a test drive. He talked to his business manager and proposed a great deal, all in a matter of minutes. Rarely, do we feel comfortable jumping into a large purchase. Typically, we would take a few days to consider any purchase. WE BOUGHT A KIA SORENTO! I am very very very angry at Kia's used car dealer ship. The first time I called to inquire about a car I was told yes they still have the car, then come to find out it WAS already sold, ok. I decided to go in on a Sunday and look at 3 other cars that I was interested in and decided to buy the one of my choice, and did all of the paper work, Monday morning I contacted my bank, contacted the dealership to fax the information to the bank. Then late that Monday afternoon the Kia calls to tell me the car had already been sold on Friday. This car was on the site SUNDAY, nothing about it being sold. I work, live over 60 miles away, I lost a day of work for a car that was already sold. I asked why their system didnt indicate it being sold when I was there in the process of purchasing it on a Sunday if had been already sold Friday, I was told it wasnt processed correctly, very very very poor management I'd say. The young, new guy helped me when I was there, he was great. The sales manager that I talked to on the phone prior to going and looking at the cars nor the the general manager didnt have the guts to call me and tell me it was sold they had the new guy do it and wasnt his sell.

Making a purchase such as a brand new or used vehicle is never fun. It is a painstaking process for most however, this has been my first used car purchase with Shawnee Mission KIA and has proven to be a much better experience than all others before. I had sent a request through the website as to what I was looking for and the next day I received a response from one of salesmen, Frankie. On that same day, I went in, test drove 2 Sorentos and ended up bringing one home. It was a late night going through the process, all my doing as I am so particular, and Frankie and all others involved maintained a pleasant and cheerful disposition the whole time. I went into the dealership to test drive a Kia Soul, and was wanting to test drive other makes at other dealerships too, but never went anywhere else. Will showed me several cars, and went on the test drive,he was very nice, not pushy like I expected. He helped me make up my mind that I wanted this car. When I came in to discuss what I needed to do Will wasn't on the lot and asked Frankie to help me out. Frankie made sure that I understood every piece of paper that he showed me about the financing. Showed me the car fax on the new Soul and on my old car. No pressure like I expected from a car salesperson. I left the dealership with a clean and shinny Kia Soul. Ask for Will or Frankie, and you will get good treatment.

Exterior of building needs a LOT of TLC. I wanted to test-drive a Kia Sportage. The first guy I came in contact with wanted all my personal information and when I asked why he needed all that up front, I didn't get a straight answer. After being made to sit for 20 minutes, another salesperson came and asked if we'd been helped. I told him we'd been sitting for 20 minutes after another salesman had taken my driver's license and info, that I had other places to go and all I wanted to do was test-drive. I finally did my test drive. Not impressed with the car, or the dealership. Won't go back or recommend to anyone.

I purchased a 2015 kia sorento on a sunday. i came into the dealership 45 minutes before close. honestly i had been at another dealer for the most of the day and decided this was the car for me. however, the sales associate was lifeless. Even though I was happy with the vehicle, he did not have me engaged enough to take that next step. we left and went to Shawnee Mission Kia- I really did not think that we would leave with a car, but we did. Bryan and his team were friendly, enthusiastic and informative. I love this! During our visit, i received a phone call that my son had been in a roll over accident. as you can imagine, i was in a panic, especially since i live an hour and 15 minutes from the dealership. knowing that i needed to go, Bryan was able to get us out and on the road asap. my son ended up being fine (thank god for seatbelts).. other than the family emergency, it was a good experience and i appreciate their time late on a sunday...

My review is much different than those who yelped before me. Im not sure of anything EXCEPT my experience, which was nothing less than delightfully painless! Id like to call to attention specifically John Munz-Sales, Pope-Management, and Dane-Finance. The entire staff was great, but these three gentlemen need special recognition for going above and far beyond ANY dealer expectations I may have had! My car buying adventure started at another Shawnee Mission dealership that shall go unnamed. (Car brand sounds eerily similar to Honda) After more than a week of being given incorrect answers, given cars to look at that didnt meet ANY of my criteria, and being pushed into something I wasnt entirely comfortable with, I finally settled on a car close to my wish. I took the car overnight in order to take it for an independent review at my auto clinic. On my way to the shop, while driving the soon to be mine car, I passed the Kia store. While at the auto clinic, I made mention that I may swing by the Kia lot on my way to sign the paperwork for the car I was driving. My trusted mechanic recommended a person VERY HIGHLY and made the call to have John meet me at the lot. I should probably mention that I was test-driving a Kia Sorento, so I already knew the features and what I wanted. When I met John, I advised of the previous weeks efforts with the other company. I told him what I wanted, how much I wanted to spend, and that if he didnt have itthen I was headed to sign on the car I was driving. He actually LISTENED!!!! He consulted with Pope and together, they opted to show me two Sorento models on the lot. Within 15 minutes, I was looking at the car that I ultimately purchased. John and I headed back into the office where Pope presented me with a lower number that the previous dealer (and even more reasons to buy straight from Kia). {Warning-Pope will bribe you to make him cookies-hes a bit sneaky with the sweets!?}Within the hour, I was headed to my auto shop to have it looked over. By the time I got back, the papers had been started and I was quickly taken care of by Dane in the finance department. While we waited on the ducks to get into a row, John treated me to lunch. As we ate, he advised me on a couple of things, asked about my world, and told me a little about his own life.While in negotiations with the previous lot, I felt pressured and almost like I couldnt get out of buying from them once I looked there. NEVER ONCE did any of the Kia team make me feel this way! In fact, they went out of their way to encourage me to check around if I had any hesitation (I didnt!) and never made me feel like I was wasting their time with my endless questions (Sorry, John!)While I was super excited to hop in my new car, John was almost more excited than me! He is proud of his office, his company, and most of all, of the cars he sells. While I hope that Im not in the market for a new car for quite some time, I can 100% guarantee that my one and only call will be to John. I would entrust him to find the car I wanted, with no question at all. The Kia store is full of other great peoplebut John helped this experience turn into something very pleasant, rather than the dreaded event it was becoming at the hands of the other dealership. While Im certain that all Kia purchasers here their Salesman say call me, Im not sure that all people understand just how true that is! I feel confident that John would help, no matter when I called. Im proud to be part of the Shawnee Mission Kia extended family!

I recently had a situation where I had two lease autos and only need one auto for my family. While in the service department of Shawnee Mission Kia I walked to the new car sales area and asked what I needed to do to turn in my 2013 Kia Soul. Chris Winans herd me ask and took me to his desk. I explained my situation and he said he would take care of me. Take care of me he did. Chris did an outstanding job of working with the bank and took my two autos, a 2012 Hyundia and 2013 Kia Soul, in for trade and financing a 2014 Kia Soul. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. My new payment is almost $100.00 less than the two lease payments and my insurance was reduced by almost $150.00. The time I spent with Chris and the employees at Shawnee Mission Kia was well worth it. Chris was constantly working on the trade and financing that was to my satisfaction. I made an appointment for a service recall. After waiting a while I was informed that they "just ran out of the parts". I had taken the day off work to get this looked at. No further help was offered, so I asked if the parts could be received...waited and no was the answer then I asked if another dealership could do the repair. No one went out of their way - as if my time wasn't valuable. After my asking, the manager did call over to Olathe Kia, who said they could help. I got there and they got me right in. No "parts" were needed as the corrosion wasn't bad enough, the wax was applied and it was a done deal (I did go ahead and get the transmission serviced while I was there, and that was quick as well). Once again I am disappointed with SMKIA. I don't think anyone even looked at my van to see if the control arm needed to be replaced in the first place.....I have bought two cars from this place...Also, I heard about this recall coming up a while back....I asked about it when I was in about 6 weeks ago and no one knew what I was talking about. Then a few weeks later I get the notice in the mail. How does the news know about it, but not the dealership? It could have saved me a trip as it is a bit of a drive for me.

I serviced my 2011 Optima here with only 30,000 miles on it. They made several repairs to the engine under warranty, the last one being a cylinder head replacement. 3 weeks later the engine light came back on and I had to tow it back. They told me the engine had oil contamination and was ultimately ruined. They refused to pay for a new engine under warranty and told me to file a claim with my insurance. They never took responsibility for ruining my engine. I traded that vehicle in for a different 2011 Optima, the first time I needed an oil change I found out they had over tightened the oil drain plug. This dealer continues to offer terrible customer service and careless service. Do not use this dealer for sales or service!

After test driving a Kia Soul with Mr. Lamthi and proceeding to the financial part of purchasing a vehicle, I was very specific about financial term I wanted. I was offered a very low amount for my trade in(Kia). I was told I would get a military discount and Kia owner Loyalty discount, neither was on the paper work offered. Mr. Lamthi also would not disclose the interest rate when I asked him 3 times. His attitude was awful, when I refused the terms, he got rather obnoxious, telling me he wasn't doing the work if I would not sign a paper promising to "make the deal". We left the dealership without purchasing the vehicle. Feeling very insulted and angry. That same day we went to Frank Fletcher Kia in Jefferson City where we were treated wonderfully and bought a new Kia Soul with the exact terms I wanted with the discounts I was told. I had told Mr. Lamthi that we were also talking with Frank Fletcher Kia and he out an out lied telling me Shawnee Mission Kia sells 350 cars a month and Frank Fletcher Kia only sells 80 cars a month. I find that Mr. Lamthi would do well to take a class on treating people with respect. Absolutely the most disappointing car buying experience I have ever had.

I typically don't write a lot of reviews, but my recent experience at Shawnee Mission Kia deserved one. I walked in, not expecting to find the car I wanted, but more just look around. Bryan Dahms greeted me at the door and "listened" to what I was looking for. I wasnt 100% sure what the differences were between all the modles, so i asked him to explain it to me, which he did, and we narrowed down the style of car I was wanting. Bryan was able to get me the color and style I was wanting, with out any back and forth with me, trying to get me interested in another modle or style car. Initially, when I went in to speak with Rocco my experience was good. He was helpful and seemed like he was trying to get me the best deal when he thought I was buying the car. When I returned the next day and saw the car he had for what my budget allowed and decided it was not the option for me, he was extremely rude and pushy. When I told him I wanted to speak with my dad before making a purchase he said "Oh so you have a 3rd base hitter now. We hate that". We were welcomed to Shawnee Mission Kia soon after we parked by Bryan. He showed us a place to sit down, asked us a couple inquiring questions and was on it! He soon had the car with color we requested and passed us to Stone. Stone took us for a test drive in our Optima. He familiarized us with the vehicle, answered our questions and was very courteous. Stone walked us through the buying process and wasn't the "typical" car salesman looking to make a deal. We felt his genuineness, honesty, and interest in our needs. Stone then passed us to Mark Pritchard. Mark is a professional at his duties there at Kia. I believe it takes a special kind of man to repeatedly walk buyers through the paperwork. He explained the warranty, and different options concerning gap insurance, interior and exterior coverage etc. He too was very polite, and treated us with dignity and respect. Sunday, when we dropped off our trade-in, Tony was there to meet us. He also met us with a smile, and even though he didn't sell us the car, sure was kind and genuine.
