Take your business elsewhere!! We took out a lease on a pilot and when our lease was up boy were we treated differently. Though we told them we would be going through our credit union, the sales person Jim Hurst told us we needed to come in. (Though as it turned out we didqn't) So we loaded our 3 kids in the car and drove the 30 mins to the dealership. All they did for over an hour is jerk us around, trying to tack on all these extra fees without any documentation of why we would be charged the fees. When we asked to speak with the manager Adam, he was unapologetic and could care less how our experience went. This is definitely not how you get repeat buyers. I would never buy a car from this dealership again.

To give a background. My wife and I are foreigners and we have traveled around US for past 2 months. We bought a car in Florida (Honda Odyssey) and we planned to sell it in California to leave for Asia. Hence we visited couple of dealers around San Francisco Bay area. One of the dealers was San Leandro Honda. All dealers gave pretty much same offer (between 3.5 and 4.2 K). We decided to go with San Leandro Honda where Mr. Brook was attending us. He seemed really nice and fair, open and very helpful and understood that we do not have time since we are leaving the country soon. He checked the car and said that based on Kelly Blue book it is worth 3.5 K, but he can give us 4K. He said we can go around and we will get offers around 4 (maybe few hounded dollars more) but that we have to be aware that it is very complicated to fill out title transfer since we are foreigners and the car is from Florida. Based on everything we decided that he knows what he is doing and we trust him. So we asked what we need to do a sale. He said that only original clean title (we had application for a title since Florida is using some electronic titles or something). He agreed he will do us a favor and make a call to Florida to our car seller. We were relieved that we have enough time before our planned departure. Next day we called Mr. Brook and he said that we can do the deal but it is going to take him 2-3 weeks or more to get the title and that he cannot give us the check till then. So if we have time to stay in US and wait it is ok?!?!? We contacted our seller in Florida and Florida and California DMVs. We were able to get the original title in 2 days from Florida. So this is the first thing that bothered us. Is Mr. Brook incompetent or was this some kind of scam (abusing our time limit?!). He even said to us that we did a great job of getting the Title so quick (so he is obviously incompetent if we are normal foreigners not in Auto business??). So we called to arrange a meeting to finalize the deal. We asked him if there is anything else or can we finalize as agreed. He said no, if you have Title and it is clean, we transfer the title and I write you a check. So this was on Friday, and we said so we can come on Monday afternoon and finish this in a day so we can buy a flight ticket. He confirmed that if we bring the title he gives us the check and we are off. So on Monday afternoon at 14:30 we came and he was not there (even though he said he is there all the time). We agreed to come next morning at 9AM, since other employees told us that at this time everybody is in and that Brook is one of the first arrivals. We waited until 9:45 for him to show up. He was again all nice to us asking when do we have a flight out. We said that we have a flight the following day. At that point he wanted to see the car again. After 3 minutes he came back and said that service man have checked the car at night already before (how since we had the keys to the car????) and started to point out what is wrong with the car. Stating things like back differential (?!?!? This Honda is front wheel drive and not 4 wheel, so no back differential!!??), engine something, etc... and also a broken wind shield, already broken on the first day. So he gives new offer 1.5-2K?!?!??!? One day before we have to leave, he gave us a new offer that was 50% lower??? He said that it was his mistake that he should look at the car more thoroughly when we first brought it in. And that he is really sorry. But if we do not have time, he can do us a favor and give us 2.5K, which is 40% below original AGREED price!!!???So basically:-artificially nice-incompetent-taking advantage of any issues or special circumstances you might have-not keeping his word on an agreed priceWe really hope this is not a standard of doing business in USA and that we just had bad luck. Nevertheless if you cant trust a certified Honda dealer, which car dealer can you trust in USA??Simon and Barbara Kolenc

I have been looking for one of the hard car to find in the honda lineup, the Honda Civic SI. i was browsing through the honda website, Started searching for the car and San Leandro Honda website came up. Was excited so i called right away and started talking to Neil. We talked about the car and Neil happen to have the same car am looking for so it made our conversation comfortable. To make it short, i made an appointment and was so happy the car that am looking for specifically is the ONLY one they have. Neil made it so easy for me and i liked the way the treated me cause ive had really bad experience from the past and am sure you can all relate to that. This is great place to deal with ill tell all my friends about it.

San Leandro Honda is by far the best dealership I have ever dealt with. I've leased two vehicles now and both purchased were identical...PERFECT. They went the extra mile to locate the exact model, exterior / interior color that I wanted and I was off and running quickly. I live nearly 200 miles away from San Leandro but it was worth the drive as they provide a higher level of service then the other Honda stores that are in my local area. Thanks again to Tina and Brook!!

They are the nicest People especially Tina, she was so nice and easy to deal with. I love my car and highly recommend them. I got such a good feeling from their friendly and helpful staff. I was introduced to their service department and plan to have my car serviced with them in the future. I gave them a high rating for all of the reasons I just described.

San Leandro Honda is absolutely the most dishonest and unethical company that I have ever dealt with. They told me the car was made in the USA and had Michelin tire (the car was manufactured in Ontario, Canada and has Bridgestone tires) OVER PROMISED and UNDERDELIVERED. I wanted to purchase a 2005 Honda Civic EX sedan on July 23, 2005. They tried to sell me a new car with a ding in the door. I should have left right then and there, but told them to fix the ding. I picked up the car on July 26, 2005 and found additional problems, such as scratch marks around the ding. The car was also filthy. They also promised to fix the scratch on the instrument cluster cover as well as give me $100 back on the car to compensate me for the scratch marks, which they buffed. I would call back once a month and Christy would say that she would call me when the part arrives. By October 2005, I had not received my $100. I bought the car through Costco and complained through Costco, who were nice enough to get me the $100 back, even though San Leandro Honda say initially that they already gave me $100 back. San Leandro Honda also offered to fix the scratch if I pay wholesale for the part and half the labor. I am currently filing complaints through American Honda and the Better Business Bureau. In fact on January 9, 2005, the General Manager finally called me to insult the company that I work for. He said that he had called me back, when I filed a complaint through Costco, but it turns out that he only called Costco to offer to let me pay for the scratch. DO NOT PURCHASE A VEHICLE FROM THIS COMPANY!

I've read almost every car buying book on the market so I was very skeptical when I first saw the price on the Honda Accord being offered at this dealership. Nevertheless, I went to take a look and it was flawless. The price was incredible and Anders was very easy to work with. He answered all of my questions and the deal went very smoothly.

I also got an extended warranty at an exceptional price. In fact, after I came home and checked similar warranties online, I found that the price was about 30% below the lowest rate I was quoted online.

About a week after I purchased the car, I noticed some chips on the windshield which were only visible in the glare of the sun. I called Anders and asked if there was anything that could be done. To my surprise, they replaced the windshield at no cost.

I couldn't be happier with my purchase and the service they provided afterwards was incredible. I would recommend them to everyone.

This is the worst Honda dealership so far. I've been an owner of 3 generation Hondas, and buying from this dealership sucks.
Purchased a Honda Pilot through their internet manager. a neophyte con artist.
Agreed on pricing but finance guy (the head con artist)added stuff that padded the cost.
Later on I found out that this stuff were useless, i.e: Touch of Class.
Also, pressure selling on their own extended warranty. Took it just the same so I could get out of the dealership right away. The next day I cancelled it and purchase it somewhere else for half the price.
I pity those first time uneducated buyers who were mostly orientals and latinos. They didn't know they were being ripped off. I speak Spanish and I could understand exactly every word the salemen were saying behind their backs.
This dealership pride themselves as having won a lot of sales awards. But how they got it is definitely questionable. They prey on people who hardly speaks English so they can't complain. The reputation of American Honda is at stake here and they should put an end to this quality of dealership

Very good experience with Anders Chun, one of their internet sales representatives. I cant believe how much easier internet has made purchasing a new car with zero hassle. I used whatever service is affiliated with kellybluebook to get an internet quote. I knew exactly what I wanted, to lease a civic coupe DX value package with side air bags. Anders Chun gave me a price quote immediately. The quote was way below blue book (about $1000 below!), I think because Honda is trying to unload on 1996 models. I got the same quote from El Cerrito Honda, but have heard some bad things about that dealership, plus San Leandro was in a more convenient location. I emailed Anders to confirm that this really low quote did indeed include all the specific features I was looking for, and giving him my cell phone #. He then politely called me to confirm the quote. They didnt have one in stock but were willing to do a swap so I could get it.

The next day, I came in to do a test drive of a similar model. Anders was very laid back and easy to work with. Not pushy at all, patient and a nice guy. I completely trusted him. The test drive went smoothly. They didnt have the DX with airbags and actually had to do a swap with the Honda in Petaluma, which they were willing to do even for the very small commission. I was uncomfortable signing to lease the vehicle before seeing it (i,e., it comes down from Petaluma with some huge dent or a clanking engine, etc.), and he agreed to proceed with the swap in exchange for me putting down a $200 down payment, which I thought was very reasonable. In fact the floor manager tried to talk us out of this, encouraging me to sign first, but Anders said it was no problem, and I appreciated the trust. The next day, I got the car, it was his day off, and he wanted to be there anyway just to make sure it went smoothly. He actually picked me up at the Bart Station on his day off! Talk about good service. He was very gracious throughout the process I would definitely return as a customer to him at San Leandro Honda.

About the San Leandro Honda Dealership they basically seem pretty good for a large dealership. I have used them before for service and saw how they operated during the sale. My impression was that it was a big, high volume dealership. People were generally very professional, not sleazy, but rather impersonal. I think one of the reasons Anders wanted to work the whole process through by my side, even coming in on his day off, was that there might not be that extent of personal attention or care if he wasnt there to move things forward.

San Leandro Hondas service department is fine, but seem to sometimes recommend services that seem unnecessary. For my previous Honda, they kept telling me that the CV Boots needed replacing as a preventative measure, which seemed rather excessive for a vehicle with only 70,000 miles on it. At least they werent pushy about it, but I think they were basically trying to make more money on unnecessary services.

Overall, I highly recommend San Leandro Honda and Anders Chun for internet sales.
