Outstanding Purchase Experience
I purchased my first Porsche, a used 2005 Boxster S, from John last Saturday. My purchasing experience with John was outstanding from the first time I made contact with him through the website. Upon my arrival, John had the Boxster washed and waiting for me in the garage. He's very knowledgable about the details of his used car inventory. I had to wait a short time to meet with the Finance department, and John made sure my friend and I were comfortable before he left to fill up my car. In his follow up email, he let me know that I'm welcome to stop in for a tutorial for my car. John's customer service is second to none, and it was a pleasure to purchase from him. Even though Monterey is a bit of a drive for me, I'll definitely be in touch with him when I'm ready to purchase my next Porsche.
Great Experiences With John
I have purchased three Porsches from John. Each purchase and experience has been great. For each purchase, I ordered the cars from the factory. In putting together the orders and options, John helped at each step by explaining the purpose and function of options to make sure that I got cars that I would ultimately be satisfied with and would enjoy. In negotiating the purchases, John always acted in a straight forward manner and with honesty. That's one reason I have made three purchases from him. When the cars arrived, John went through each with me, explaining and setting up the car options. After delivery, John has followed up with invitations to come back to the dealership to make sure that all is well with the cars, and to answer any questions I might have concerning them. Bottom line, John is a professional with whom it is a pleasure to deal.
Service Department
The service group is always knowledgeable, helpful and most important easy to talk with. I have been servicing my 997S since I purchased it and have never had an issue with a service. Knowledgeable, completed on time, excellent service work - Everything I expect from Monterey Porsche. Thanks Guys!

Great Experience with John Bassett
I purchased a CPO 911 Carrera from John, and the experience could not have been better. John was extremely responsive, and the car was front and center when I arrived at the dealership. John is very knowledgeable, and I appreciated his thoroughness, professionalism and candor. Very nice experience, each one of the sales people involved with my purchase, including the general manager, that was really nice. I had all my needs taken care off, I really can't complain. Well I paid MSRP, but the car was a special edition, so can't quite complain, since a lot of people had to pay over the MSRP.... Overall a great experience, will return if needing another Porsche.... This is my second one from them....
Best car buying experience!
John was a class act all the way around. I made a last-minute decision to drive to the dealership from Sacramento which was three and a half hours away. John rearranged his schedule to meet me during closing time. We were able to reach an agreement and then he went one step further and had the car delivered to me in Sacramento the next night so I could surprise my family with my new toy. My First Porsche 911
I have always dreamed of owning a new Porsche 911. I have driven and owned many BMW's and Audi's as well as others in the Euro segment. I did my homework for a few months and spoke to others who have owned or own 911's and reached out to a few Porsche Dealers as well to get comfortable with my decision. I ended up speaking with John Bassett at Porsche of Monterey when I came across a review someone had written about him and called him directly. John was the person I had been looking to work with! My Cayenne is one year old and has 4,000 miles of experience. I wanted an oil change, a reset of the tire pressure warning screen, and an inspection of systems and fluids by a trained eye. My appointment was for Monday morning. I waited at the dealership, and in two hours, the service was completed, a factory update performed, and the vehicle was washed and vacuumed. A new crankcase valve recommended by the factory could not be installed because the part is on order. I am please with John Fritz's scheduling and monitoring of service, Jeremiah's performing service and explaining gear ratios, and Nick's (in Parts) answering technical and operating questions. I also would like to have my 911 serviced at Porsche of Monterey, but John Bassett says I will have to buy one first.

2013 Boxster S Service
I traveled from Sonoma County down to Monterey Porsche to have my 2013 Boxster S serviced. It may seem a little strange to drive that far but I feel a sense of loyalty, having purchased the car new from Ray Ramsey and the staff is always very courteous and offers great service. Aftwr months of looking I found my car online. John responded within minutes and after a few conversations he put the car on hold for me and I drove over 300 miles to get it. When I arrived he had the car detailed and gassed and ready to go. It was spotless as he had said and I was thrilled. Paperwork went very smoothly and Everyone was friendly and professional. John Bassett - Consummate Professional
This was an absolutely perfect buying experience. Even though I purchased a used car, I was treated with the same care and respect I wouldve received had I purchased a 911 GT3 RS. Its obvious that all the employees love their job as everyone I interacted with greeted me with a smile and sincere friendliness. The person I had the most contact with was the Internet Sales Manager, John Bassett. John is a consummate professional and get-it-done kind of person. I called on a Friday morning, expressing interest in the car I wanted and drove it home at the end the same day. We were able to arrange all the details (Price, Financing, etc.) over email. Despite having to deliver a car to another customer in the afternoon, John returned to the dealership at the end of the day to help me with my purchase. He made sure the car was ready for me when I arrived after work. Jomil did the detail/prep and it looked like a new car. John was still there 45 minutes after the dealership closed to hand me my keys and wish me well. Jim Davis, the General Manager, stayed late to help me as well. His Finance Manager and Sales Manager were out of the office, so he took over the chore of walking me through the paperwork. The one hiccup was listening to the extras offers, like prepaid oil changes, etc. Because his pitch was so low key/non-aggressive and my understanding that this is another revenue stream for the dealership, I politely listened and just declined. I never felt any pressure and that was refreshing. As I said at the beginning, this buying experience was wonderful. John Bassett and the team at Porsche of Monterey are Number One on the Monterey Peninsula.

Toss out all the negative stereotypes of the automobile purchasing process. My experience at Porsche of Monterey was far beyond my expectations ... from offering test drives on different models to going the extra mile to locate my "perfect car" ... no high pressure sales tactics during any part of the transaction, no "rushing" me to make a decision. This team of individuals absolutely deserves our recognition and all of our business! It started with John Fritz, the Service Advisor. John helped me with my 911 and a fuel injection malfunction. My 2009 Cabriolet had just reached 53k miles. My warranty was up at 50k however, John went into action and reached to the Porsche factory for a solution. Sure enough the next call I received was John explaining the support I was receiving from Porsche Factory. I've always serviced my vehicles only at Porsche and kept all my records. John was able to show Porsche the value in my business and they looked at me as a real person and not just a number on paper. In the short time it took to repair the 911, my curiosity took me back to a Cayenne again. I have always loved this vehicle and they placed me in one until my 911 was finished. Well, the rest is history, as I live in Marin and traveled the track back and forth I began to fall in love again. John Bassett was incredibly personable and really cared about making sure my transition from my 911 and into an outstanding lease program was good and a solid decision. First class operation
As a current owner of five very special 911's, I was interested in acquiring a new Cayman GT4. After the game playing with a few local L.A. dealers, I was referred to Porsche of Monterey. I was ultimately able to get an allocation and ordered it through the team at Porsche of Monterey.John is a fellow Porsche enthusiast and knows the product inside and out. He truly enjoys what he does! He kept me updated during the process from start to finish. His manager, Jim Davis, made himself available when John was out. Although it was not his sale, Ray Ramsey would also contact me if he heard any sort of update with my order. My interaction with this store was excellent and there were no surprises whatsoever once the car arrived. Straight forward process. A Reassuring Experience

Buying a car, made simple and pleasant
As I live over 300 miles from the area, the staff of Porsche of Monterey was extremely helpful and understanding of my circumstances. Essentially we did everything through emails and a couple of telephone calls. They were very courteous, professional and made things as simple as possible. The visit to the dealership for the test and purchase of the vehicle was very pleasant. The staff was organized, knowledgeable and efficient. The process was "glitchless" and I was back on the road with my new car in a relatively short time. While my initial contacts had been with John Bassett, when I arrived at the dealership I was welcomed by Ray Ramsey and Richard Schutt. Everybody seemed fully aware of my purchase and the whole thing was very smooth. Trade 2015GT3 for 2016GT3RS
6 month When every other dealer turn me down and told me it's simply not possible to get GT3RS unless you pay $75000-$125000 over MSRP even thought I'm a 20 years loyal Porsche customer and purchased lots of 911 cars .I called John Bassett explain him I was looking for 2016 GT3RS and I'm looking to trade my 2015GT3 at a fair price as long as I can purchase at MSRP . John took my name , told me based on his experience that there is a chance in few months , I will do my best and stay in touch.don't give up .While no one else was willing too or in some cases even did not got back to me John came through and made it happen.My 2016 GT3RS is schedule to arrive in 5 month Can't thank you enough John , you are a pro and your service and care is second to none!It may be a drive from the Silicon Valley but you just earned a new customer for my future Porsche cars and SUVAvner

Had some minor parts replaced on a used car I recently purchased else ware. Have had the vehicle there previously for other minor work as I am restoring minor issues to bring the vehicle up to where it should be.The Service Manager, Parts Department and Service Department are always friendly and very helpful. I understand that a dealership at this level is going to request their staff to give customers excellent service but my impression is that this team elevates customer relations past that, really care about what's going on and about the people they are assisting during the day.I especially appreciated how the mechanics have educated and informed me about my vehicle and took the time to make sure I understood what was going on.

So I had been looking for a preowned certified 2012 Turbo S for quite sometime. I saw an online ad for a Turbo S somewhere (I honestly can't remember; there are so many online sites) and tracked it back to Porsche of Monterey; I live in Michigan. I called John Bassett, verified that that car was indeed what I was looking for. From the fact that the car was certified, the pictures, the reputation of the dealership and John's recommendation that the car was pristine, I made a reasonable offer for the car. Needless to say the offer was accepted.From there on everything was seamless.The paperwork, the communication and the delivery flawless. I bought my beautiful new Cayman through John. Because I live in San Francisco and he's all the way in Monterey, the majority of our communication was done over the phone or over e-mail. He was able to give me a great price, and throughout the (agonizing) three month build process he provided regular updates.Delivery day was extremely memorable. What a great person John B is, my visit at Monterey Porsche was stressful (self inflicted) until Mr John made his presence. We spoke for a while regarding my thoughts and concerns on a rather large purchase, i had never spent this kind of money on a car . John had a calming attitude no pushy hurry choose a car. We test drove a car, during the drive he explained the in's and out's for the car, once we returned to the dealership i still was not able to choose a model. I had emailed with John Bassett about the car a few days prior and we got many of the basic questions about the car out of the way. At The Quail in 2012 I took a test drive in a Panamera. Shortly thereafter I got a follow up email from John Bassett asking if I had any questions with which he could help me. I responded, my daughter and I took another Panamera test drive with John. He was very friendly, very knowledgeable about the car, and gave us a very enjoyable experience. There was no pressure, no "are you ready to buy today," etc. He was just low key, and pleasant. I concluded our encounter by telling him I would probably be interested when the 2014 models came out. After that, I did not hear from John, no pestering, or anything like that. He was simply very professional, probably the most professional salesperson I have dealt with, and I have dealt with many. At the 2013 Quail, I took another Panamera test drive, and sent an email to John that I was ready to purchase one. I made an appointment, and he made himself available at my convenience. We got reacquainted, and I was specific in what I wanted on the Panamera, and he place the order with a fair price for me. With honesty, he said it would take three and a half months for the car to arrive, which it did. When I picked up the car, he spent more time with me than I expected getting acquainted with the car, again demonstrating his knowledge of the car and interest in making sure I was comfortable and happy with it. Several days later he called and located one that was in production and was destined for their dealership. when the car arrived, it had a different interior than was on the manifest, so i declined the car. John found what i wanted from another dealership--the car was in production in Germany. He traded a turbo for it, and secured the car. I recently decided to purchase a 2012 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. I made a personal visit to one Southern California Dealership and was given a personal contact at another dealer by someone in the exotic car business. While I was provided with a test drive at one dealer I found the lack of follow thru to be very disappointing. Having had very good service at Ferrari and Lamborghini dealerships, I got the impression that Porsche just did not understand customer service.Having recently moved to Cambria, I called the closest Porsche dealership to my home in hopes of having a better experience. I ended speaking with a very personable sales advisor, Peter Savale. Not only did he seem interested, but within a day he had assisted me in selecting my car with options and a negotiated purchase price. He even secured an advanced build date for my car by trading out one of their slots of another model. We have been back and forth over the past 2 weeks to finalize things. He has been consistently responsive to my inquiries with complete answers. He is very knowledgeable and personable and has made my Porsche purchase a pleasure.I recommend Peter without any reservations if you want to purchase a Porsche!

I ordered a Panamera from this dealership, and picked it up last weekend. They gave me a great price (beating the other dealers, as I had shopped around) but never treated me like it. Throughout my experience, from ordering it, checking status so I knew when it would arrive, a thorough walk-through of the cars controls when we took delivery, the easy docs and payment process, and taking a bunch of photos of my wife and I with our new toy before we drove off, both John (the internet sales rep who sold me the car) and his manager Larry were helpful, polite, and great to work with. I just picked up my 911 Turbo from them, and I spent over a week test driving different cars there, and debating which one to get. All the folks were totally supportive, did not pressure me into anything, and were there to help me make the best decision that I could (to make me happy with my purchase). They want to make you a customer for life, not just for the transaction at hand! I wish all retail experiences for luxury goods were done by Porsche of Monterey! I am a customer for life!!! What a relaxing experience! We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon to look at a Carrera S we had seen online. We were met at the door by John and after talking with him for a short time his genuine personality was clear. He answered all of our questions in a knowledgeable and professional manner. He offered his experience with the product to help us understand positives and negatives of various options given our needs. Without me asking he suggested my spouse and I take the car for a drive Not some short "all right hand turn" drive either! He told us take it out for 20-30 minutes to really get the "feel" of it... That was a great hook, after 20 minutes in the car there was no way I was going home without it!The rest of his team was just as competent, friendly and no pressure. They detailed our car as we finished the paperwork and then sent us on our way with a full tank of fuel!

My first phone call into the dealership I spoke with John Bassett from the Internet Sales department. He was very courteous, and took the time to make sure I was getting the right car to purchase. I went down to Monterey with my better half when he bought his Turbo Carrera. He was treated so well; every question that he had was answered promptly and any concerns he had were addressed immediately. I already owned a 2005 911, and I really had NO intention of buying another Porsche (I was actually considering a Ferrari). When my BF came back from Monterey Porsche with a huge smile on his face and told me about his service experience, I was really impressed (and he's pretty dang particular). He also mentioned to me that there was a new Boxter Spyder tha I just HAD to go check out. Again, wasn't really what I was looking for. John immediately accomodated us, moving cars out of the way and letting us go for a test drive right away. He explained the nuances, features, and unique additions on it, without giving me the "hard sell". I fell in love with the car. I didn't want to tip my hand, so I told John "it's really nice" and walked away. I thought about it the whole way home, called him, asked about a trade in and what we might be able to do, and he made it so easy for me that I would have been a fool not to move forward with the new car. Always hesitant on purchasing a car from a dealer, the old stigma of "pushy, lying and greedy" holds no water with John and the guys at Porsche of Monterey. Had been looking for a car for several weeks, couldn't really decide with which car to go with. Found the now mine Porsche online and again was hesitant with going through a dealer to make the purchase (had been looking for private sale). Inquired about the car, reluctantly, and to my surprise John was nothing like I thought a salesman was going to be. Courteous, upfront and a no hassle salesman. I like that. Got to the dealership late and on the day before July 4th, not only that but my friend and I came in looking ragged from mountain biking earlier that day. When I would expect anyone else to be annoyed and want to go home, John stuck it out. Had the car out ready and waiting for me to drive. Had a price in mind already and he made it happen. It was a straight up no BS sale, all the small talk happens after I decided to buy the car. No pressure what so ever. Not only was John fantastic to work with, but met the General Manager, Larry, who also was courteous and friendly. Flew through the paper work for finance with Steve who again was just awesome and made it so easy. These guys are a model dealership staff. No upsales, no bull, and friendly when it matter, after the fact. I know that many dealerships will act like your friend before a purchase to win you over but these guys really followed through. The icing on the cake? While they washed, waxed and filled up the gas tank, John let me test drive a 911 turbo! Fantastic! Over the course of the past few months, I have been looking for a low mile, pre-owned 911 and found a great 2011 911 C4S being offered by Porsche of Monterey. I contacted the dealership via the Porsche.com site and received a very friendly and prompt response by John Bassett. He was very open to discussing price over the phone and via email, was extremely responsive and overall was a pleasure to work with. Unfortunately the timing didn't work for me with this car and it was purchased by another Porsche enthusiast. A few weeks later, there were two other 911s I was considering and I contacted John for some objective advice. John was extremely helpful, proactive, and went above and beyond expectations to provide me with critical guidance on what to look for and what information to request from the respective dealers on both vehicles to ensure I made an informed buying decision on my first 911. Was initially invited for a Saturday "Drive" day - nice hospitality with snacks, but a GREAT opportunity to drive new models. Wanted to compare the latest 911 against my older one, but was smitten by the Boxster. Noticed a Boxster Spyder on the floor, but didn't pay it much attention. Came back a month later after doing my homework and really looked the Spyder over. It was used but with only 250 miles. I figured I would wait and order one later as the floor model wasn't quite what I would order for myself. During each of these visits I was given just the right amount of attention by the Sales staff. Another month went by and I saw the Boxster Spyder advertised at a price $10K lower than when I first saw it. Sensing true value, I was lured back, but needed to be sure that the car met approval at home. My wife & I visited the dealership to check out the Spyder. Lance Gearing was incredibly accommodating, even providing a test ride for my wife who was time constrained. Lance & Larry Wendell were very patient with me as I went through my purchase decision process, ultimately buying the car. WHile waiting for the paperwork to be processed, Lance & I engaged in interesting conversation, striking up a friendly relationship in a manner of minutes. Steve Rothstein made the required paperwork a breeze to sail through, even when I had to sail that sea three times (which was not an issue with Porsche of Monterey, but rather the logistics of my financing). As has been said, the purchase experience is all about the interpersonal relationships between the buyer (you & me) and the dealership staff. I had a car deal that was hard to understand fully on the front side. My situation was that I found myself in need of a good solid driver. My youngest son had been accepted and was attending ucla in lA and I was driving back and forth. I had previously sold my Mercedes to a friend who wife had became I'll and they needed a good car. I was left with a 2008 chevy silverado and several performance sport cars, all two seaters. I am a very fussy car owner and my cars are all very well sorted out mostly rare and desirable but I might add they are marketed correctly. I dud not have the time to do this. I also believe in a win, win situation and profits not a bad word. So my deal was I needed to trade the truck(low miles, all the bells etc) and possibly the best last year produced NSX in the country. Thus car had 3000 miles on it. I had checked extensively around with other dealiers and knew what they would do. I went to Porsche iin Monterey and was treated wonderfully my salesman, John basset was just wonderful. He put in in a vehicle that was perfect for my needs and gave me a very fair value for my trades. His follow through was and continues to be exceptional. John is the head of Internet sales and I watched and was happy to see the NSX I traded did far better than even I expected. I was glad because John stepped up for me on my purchase and my trades and my trades in turn did well for your store. After browsing the lot at Porsche of Monterey for several weeks and knowing they had the EXACT car I'd been looking for, I knew it was time for a test drive. I stopped in on a Friday afternoon in August 2010 for the purpose of a test drive only. The salesman, Peter Savale greeted me and promptly acquired the keys to what would become my very first Porsche. My car of choice was a silver 2006 Cayman S. I had done my homework and thought I knew everything about the car. Peter was quick to prove me wrong. His level of knowledge on the car, his enthusiasm about such an amazing driving machine, and the professionalism he displayed was more than I could have ever expected. Needless to say, I drove away that very same day with my very first, and certainly not my last Porsche. In all of my years of buying cars, this experience was by far the best and most memorable. I had very positive experience with Porsche of Monterey and most notably, John Bassett. I would recommend the dealership and him as a salesman to anyone. I visited the dealer multiple times, test driving a few cars, and waiting for the one that met my desires and price range. He was instrumental in finding me the car of my dreams, notifying me first of any new cars that I may be interested as they were acquired by the dealer. Every time I came to the dealership everyone was friendly, I felt comfortable, and felt no pressure in rushing to make a purchase. I was extremely happy that I was taken seriously by John and the sales team even though I am young (<30) and this was my first Porsche. Terrific dealership - very concerned about developing a long term relationship with its customers. I boaught a used 2007 Cayman and teh price was very reasonable. They also are very active in supporting events in conjunction with the Monterery Bay region of the Porsche Club of America. Peter Savale is an outstanding salesman and David Loop has maintained my 356 flawlessly since 1996.

I will be 50 this year, John Bassett was the first car saleman ever and I mean ever to treat me as the buyer of MY car. As a female, buying a car has always been a very unpleasant experience. Car salesman inevitably speak to my husband only, make eye contact with my husband only, these actions make me feel like a second class citizen. John Bassett is number one in my books. Once he knew that I was the purchaser of the vehicle the communication was 100% between John and myself. I had a wonderful experience, I just can't say enough.

I have bought three cars from this dealer and have 3 older ones (356s) as well that they service. In terms of sales they listen well, find alternatives that meet your needs, and are aggressive in pricing. In terms of service they are always ready to help, receive your car, and meet your pick up schedule. I have dealt with two other high end car dealers for service and they are much less fruendly and flexible. This dealer will always go the extra mile to help the customer.

John was very helpful in providing just the car I was looking for and did not try to get me into something different when we had to wait a few days to find the exact car I was looking for. Everyone was very helpful and professional and went the extra miles to help me to get my dream car!! I would definitely buy another car from this dealership!!

How many auto dealers can you say you had a great experience? I had that great experience with John Bassett of Porsche Monterey. The dealership was not local for us and is 80 miles from home. We had to rely on our communications. All correspondence was professional and accurate. He was willing to put the time into providing all information about the car.We purchased one of their used cars that was not a Porsche and was the lowest price car on the lot and We felt like we were treated as if I was purchasing a GT3. They were also great with our small children and acknowledged that they were there and also gave them drinks. The dealer prep on the used car was also well done and they waxed the car and filled it up before we took it home. When we are ready to purchase another car I will be calling John Bassett.
