Looking for a Used Ford Focus Car

0
Angela Benevento on 08/01/2016

Unfortunately, the Ford Focus I found online was already sold before we had a chance to go to the dealership. Therefore, we did not visit the dealership since we decided to only buy a used Ford Focus car and nothing else. We are in the process of going to other dealerships that have used Ford Focus cars for sale.

Bait and switch

We communicated with Andy (internet salesperson) to see if they could match the offer given to us by the Mazda dealer in Fremont for a CX-5 AWD with no additional upgrades and after forwarding what the competitor could provide he told us he would match and taken an addition $100 off if we did financing. Great! We drove from Fremont to San Jose to seal the deal. When we arrived Andy was not there so we spoke to his colleague to test drive the car. He brought out a CX-5 AWD with the Bose and sunroof upgrade. We informed him that this is not what we negotiated and he would see what inventory they had. We knew they had two since Andy had given us a choice of colors. The gentlemen informed us the they only had the model we wanted with the upgrades but it was only an extra $1100. While not a shocking amount, we are not interested in the upgrades and $1100 is $1100 out of our pocket. We were informed Andy had quoted the 2WD and could not match the price quoted via email. I am extremely disappointed in the bait and switch this dealership did and will never recommend them due to the unethical methods they use to bring in purchasers. We are heading back to Fremont since they honor what they put in writing.

I had a great experience with Oak Tree Mazda. The funny thing is I had NOT planned on purchasing another mazda, yet alone purchasing any car any time soon. Went to get gas with my Dad off of Stevens Creek to return his rental and seen the lovely new 2016 Mazda 6. The car was so attractive I immediately checked it out from front to back and thought I would ask the owner questions about it. The nice gentleman was actually a salesman from Oak Tree Mazda. Ignacio had given me all of the perks and features along with his card. No pushy antics or any greasy salesman tricks, which was very appreciated. I thought about it that night and decided to return to look at the vehicle. I decided it was time to purchase a new vehicle. I'm glad I did! They were wonderful and gave me a fair price for my trade in vehicle. I may even say I had a FUN experience from coming in and reviewing my options with Ignacio to finalizing the purchase with Nana from financing! I am really thrilled to drive my new snowflake!!! Side note: Absolute truth (I am a two time Mazda car buyer and I say this as a helpful note) I previously purchased my Mazda through Capitol Mazda and it was an experience not memorable (it was over 11 years ago). Memory serves me correctly they had made a mistake on the purchase price but I give them credit to state the truth even though it was after the contract was signed...

Anna Provado is amazing. She is very helpful and courteous and made the buying process very easy for me. She delivered the car to my house and gave me the instructions on how to setup the infotainment. She was very patient with all my questions, and took the time to explain the features of the vehicle. I will definitely recommend her to my friends and family.

Not Quick to Respond

Customer Service: 1.0 Buying Process: 1.0

Tried to get some information via their Internet department on a used Honda Element and they were very sloooooow to respond to my inquiries. I contacted them a few times but it took them several days to reply to my internet inquiries. One would think with all the competition out there they would hop on it but no so. They just didn't seem very interested in "earning my business."

Not very Negotiable and Slow to Respond

BESTBETTERGOOD on 08/28/2015

Buying Process: 1.0

Tried to buy an (ORANGE) used Honda Element from the dealership. The internet department was very slow to respond to my inquiries about the vehicle. Also, when I made an offer I was met with a rather stiff-necked "we will only take about $100 off the price" because we are in the car too deep (uh-huh!) I was willing to work with them on price but virtually had the door slammed in my face. Guess they like their car more than my money because it is STILL IN THEIR INVENTORY. If the General Manager reads this I'd be willing to see if they really want to "earn my business" by discussing how we can make this business transaction work for all involved.

I have had so many problems with Oak Tree Mazda, that it is difficult to know just where to start:I live in Los Angeles and saw a used Audi for sale. It was a rare model at a decent price, so I drove all the way down there to purchase it. Salesman was great, no problem there. Financing offered me an interest rate I wasn't thrilled with but said I had five days to secure my own financing before everything was finalized. I also purchased the extended warranty at that time, due to the fact that it was a used Audi, and repairs have known to be expensive. The warranty, by the way, was $5k, so not cheap. The next day, I secured financing through BofA at a far better rate, so I immediately called them at the finance department. I left a message on the voicemail, but nobody returned my call. I ended calling 2-3 times a day, where the receptionist knew who I was when I called, and nobody was available and nobody would return my call. My belief because they wanted their financing to go through. I had to call corporate to complain, and then I received a call back. Financing was finally fixed....Two months later, I still had not received my registration tags, so I called them. They said they sent the paperwork, but the DMV is sometimes slow, not to worry as the temporary they gave me was a for three months. Another month went buy, and still no tags. I called the DMV, they said registration is on hold, because they still have not received any paperwork from Oak Tree, and that nobody has even put the car in my name. Now I am livid. I called to have this taken care of..... nobody to talk to, left a message, and nobody has called me back. I have called Corporate once again to complain and get this rectified.About a month ago, I cancelled my extended warranty through United States Warranty, as I thought I could use the money and take my chances. US Warranty, by the way, were excellent with prompt response and service. I did use them once, as the bluetooth module on the car I bought didn't work. I didn't realize that till a week later when trying to set up my phone. They never disclosed that, but my fault for not checking. An Audi repair service contacted them for payment and said they were great to deal with and very prompt.....So US Warranty cancelled my coverage, as requested, sent the letter back to Oak Tree, where they said I would receive a check back from them. No call, no e-mail from them whatsoever. I called them, and guess what, nobody has returned my call.I hope this helps somebody. Understand to not judge the book by the sales department. Sales is usually going to be the nicest, as they want to sell you something. It's after they've received your money is when they earn their reputation. I've been in retail management for over 20 years for a major company, so I understand proper customer service forward and backward. This has to be some of the worst service I have ever received. I could not Imagine operating like this. I highly recommend you do not purchase from them, but if you do, have everything arranged beforehand, so you do not have to use or depend on them for anything in the future.

Bought a vehicle that they knew was in bad shape, sold it to me in an unsafe manner. I brought it back 6 days after purchase and asked them to look at it. They lied and said they looked at it ( my family stayed outside all day) and when confronted they said they would look at it tomorrow. They "test drove it 4 miles" and said they went on the freeway and that it wasn't making noise or driving strange. I called BS and made a tech drive with me who tried to play off the noise until I pointed it out. They said they would call me Monday to fix it and never did. I called and was told the manager wasn't in and that he'd call me back and never did. I lived 60 miles away and driving there was unsafe. The vehicle died after 2 months and I had to let the bank take it. These people are crooks

I had the pleasure of working with Gerry, the Internet Manager and Sheriff, the General Manager. After extensive research of many Mazda dealers in the Bay Area, I decided to work with Oak Tree because of what I read about other people's experiences working with the dealership. I could have bought a new Mazda at a number of places, but Oak Tree seemed right for me. I contacted Gerry on a vehicle I saw on Cars.com, and he promptly responded. It helped that they had an actual photo of the car as opposed to all the stock photos I kept seeing. When I arrived for the appointment, he already had the car out ready for a test drive. With a few signatures, I was in and out of the dealership within a couple hours. I've brought my car back for some after market adjustments and we plan on servicing our other Mazda here as well, due to the great experiences we've had. The service team is wonderful, especially Tom and Jessica. Highly recommend this dealership!

Worked with Ignacio on the deal and overall the experience was great with him but the others not so much. First of all, when they wanted to run our credit before we even started negotiating the price of the vehicle which we should have stopped right then and there. AFTER they ran the credit we started negotiating. We ended up getting the CX-5 at a great price, but what if we hadn't bought from them? Then we would have had a point on our credit. Poor Ignacio he had to keep trying to sell the accessories to us, and we kept politely declining. Overall the experience was good, but the sales manager could have made it less painful and less time wasted.

We went there on a Sunday and talked to a nice sales person. We did'nt buy anything from him that day, however we saw something we liked and went back on a Thursday and a different sales person approched us. We asked the sales person that approached us for the guy who helped us on Sunday and he said, "Oh hes not working today, but I can help you". After our test drive, we saw the other salesperson that helped us out on Sunday which made us feel awkward. (I always heard salespeople lie, but its quite true.) Long story short, we sat down to do the paper work on the car and the finance manager told us due to our credit, the bank will require a extra $2k for a bank fee. Seriously? We didnt even bargin with the price of the car and now they want to hit us with a bank fee? The next day the salesperson called us and told us they will drop the bank fee, but your rate is still going to be 22%. We felt desperate and said, okay have the car ready and we'll stop by tomorrow. After thinking about what they wanted to do to us in the frist place, we decided to look around. We're so glad we did, the finance manager at a different dealer was able to get us into a car with no bank fees, we were able to negotiate the asking price and our interest rate was 7% less. If your looking for a used car, seriously do your homework and you'll be able to save money and make a wise purchase. The housing market and our financial decisions damaged our credit, one day when our credit is better, we wont be coming back here. After all the dishonestly I felt with dealing with this dealer, I dont even want to visit their service department even though I still own a Mazda.

Test drove a used truck, was very interested and wanted to buy it however I had to leave on a trip. Communicated with the salesman every day during my trip that I wanted the truck, offered to give him a deposit or pay for it with a credit card, he stated that could not be done but assured me he would but it in the back and it would be there when I got back. The morning of July 4th I called him and told him I was driving down (100 miles) to get the truck and he said he would see me when I got there. Long and short when I got there I was told it went to the auction the day before. I asked to speak to the manager, after 10 minutes he came out and asked me what the problem was?, really I said I just drove 100 miles to buy a truck that went to auction the day before and no one bothered to let me know. He totally threw the salesman under the bus and said it was all his fault. He never apologized until I said I was going to give negative reviews whereever I could.

He explained the difference between the mazda and the competition in simple english. For negotiations, he didn't turn all "car salesman" on me. He was very fair and a joy to deal with. The management was also very professional and catered to my needs. For a new mazda, these guys are the place!

After reading all the bad reviews, I was really hesitant to go to this dealership. However, it was the only one that gave me something in the price range I was looking for, so I decided to brave it. The guy I was talking with claimed he was a straight talker that kept his word, and indeed he was. He promised me a price on the phone and held up that promise when I got there. There was very little hassle, though he did call me quite often before the purchase to check with me on my car buying status. He tried to be very available by giving me his cell phone, and I made good use of it. Returned to the dealership to request a form later on, and the manager I dealt with, Chris, was quite friendly and helped me get the forms I needed. All in all, it was a good experience, and maybe I just lucked out and talked to the right guy, but I had a much better time than described in the other reviews. At one point they were a bit sloppy and forgot a piece of documentation, but were able to provide it the next day.Reading the reviews helped, though, and it definitely pays to have researched in advance and be on alert, checking for such things as dents and scratches. Make sure also that they give you all the documentation needed.

The sales people I dealt with were friendly enough, but I would not recommend this dealer. One new car in the lot had a big dent and I found out mine had a scratch that I didn't realize right away. The sales people are very aggressive and play a real cat and mouse game. They are determined to get you to pay too much for the car you want, but they are more agressive than other dealerships. I had to argue just to get them to start talking MSRP and below. They added on stuff at the dealer and marked the sticker price of those options 10 to 20x the actual cost. For example, for bumper accesory that cost 40 dollars, they labelled it as 400 dollars. I wish I had seen this review site before I bought my car here. The basic taste in my mouth when I left was that of being scammed.
