I was in the market for a car, and my search took me to McGrath Lexus of Westmont where I was assigned Mr Joseph Scala as my Sales Advisor. Because we currently have two other Lexus vehicles (LS430 and LX470), and I had previously owned a GS430, I thought I knew all there was to know about Lexus vehicles. Mr Scala patiently went over the innovations in the newer LS460 we wanted, and facilitated a very painless and rewarding experience for my wife and I.Since we bought our first Lexus in 2003, we have been to dealerships in IL and Texas, and McGrath Lexus was, by far, the very best experience we have had, particularly due to the attention and assistance we received from Mr Scala. I found a 2016 Lexus RX 350 online, called McGrath Lexus for availability and spoke with Mel Owens. Excellent Customer Service

I went to Lexus of Westmont looking for a car for my daughter and was helped by Joe Scala. I had researched the vehicle I wanted and explained to Joe what I am looking for and the budget I had. I am in the military stationed at Fort Hood and Joe knew I only had a few days before heading back. I was perfectly fine with waiting on a purchase but Joe did a great job of making the price right and taking care of me as a military member. I want to say something about the experience I had with the dealership. Joe was great but what a supporting cast of people he has. I never felt pressured and was totally taken care of by everyone I came in contact with. The dealership is very comfortable from the nice layout to the breakfast/lunch bar in the main lobby. The attitude of everyone is "how can I help". I would highly recommend the dealership and highly recommend Joe Scala to help anyone with purchasing a new car.

Substandard Business Practices. Poor Customer Relations.

BUYER BEWARE.I am a retired Air Force officer and a current government civilian employee that continues to serve our country. On Friday, 26 August my transporter arrived at the dealership to pick up a vehicle. While still in possession of the dealer (a dealer employee driving the vehicle) the vehicle was damaged and required body and paint work. As this is not what I paid for (a damaged and/or repaired) vehicle, I preferred to reverse the sale as I had never actually taken delivery of the vehicle. I was told by Mr. Geoff Pebelske that the only option(s) that I had is for them to fix...or not fix the vehicle...but, either way it was my vehicle (though I have never taken delivery of it). Since the accident at the hands of the lexus employee at the Lexus Dealership on Friday, 26 August, I made numerous phone calls and left numerous messages for Mr. Greg Luzinski, Mr. Geoof Pebelske, Ms. Maria Giampietro, and sent several text messages to Mr. Joseph Scala. During this time I have received only ONE response from the individuals mentioned above. And, that was to tell me that only option(s) that I have is for them to fix...or not fix the vehicle...but, either way it is my vehicle (though I have never taken delivery of it). Additionally, I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint against the dealer as well. FINAL response from this dealer being, "We have gone above and beyond for this customer. The car in is excellent condition. He received a great vehicle. We hope he enjoys it." The following is an excerpt from the complaint: 16 August. -- Was told by Mr. Scala not to send transport until he had confirmation that the USAA bank check had cleared.20-23 August. -- Sent text messages daily asking Mr. Scala, are we still waiting for USAA bank check to clear. -- Received no response until 541pm on 23 Aug.24-25 August. -- Requested Sales Manager information from Mr. Scala.25 August. -- Received management contact information at 343pm. -- Was unable to reach either Mr. Geoff Pebelske or Mr. Greg Luzinski.26 August. -- Received text from Mr. Scala to call ASAP because there was a slight problem with the vehicle.-- The vehicle had been in an accident while being driven by a Lexus of Westmont employee.26 August.-- Spoke direct to Mr. Pebelske. Was told that there were only two optionLexus of Westmont could repair the vehicle...or not repair the vehicle...but, either way the vehicle now belonged to me (though I had not taken delivery of it at time).27 August.-- Sent text to Mr. Joseph Scala stating do NOT repair the LS430 that was still in their possession (I had not taken initial delivery of the vehicle) until I had the opportunity to speak to an attorney.-- Sent e-mail to Mr. Geoff Pebelske and Mr. Joseph Scala stating do NOT repair the LS430 that was still in their possession (I had not taken initial delivery of the vehicle) until I had the opportunity to speak to an attorney.27-28 August.-- No response / Acknowledgement from Mr. Pebelske or Mr. Scala.28 August. -- Requested sales, legal, and accounting contacts at Lexus corporate from Mr. Joe Scala and Mr. Geoff Pebelske. No response / Acknowledgement received. 29 August.-- Sent e-mail to Mr. Pebelske and Mr. Scala stating that I had calls in to the Illinois Bar Association and a couple of attorney offices. I let them know that I anticipated initial consults my mid-week.30 August.-- No response / Acknowledgement from Mr. Pebelske or Mr. Scala.31 August - 3 September.-- Attempted to make contact with Mr. Greg Luzinski and Mr. Geoff Pebelske via phone (left voicemails) and with Mr. Joseph Scala via text.-- No response / Acknowledgement from Mr. Luzinski, Mr. Pebelske or Mr. Scala.6 September.-- I received a text from the transporter stating that he would be at the drop-off location (my residence) between 6pm and 630pm.-- Per the transporter, "The pickup was requested by the dealership after the vehicle was fixed. Jeff (Pebelske) was the one who authorized (release)...".BOTTOMLINE: All attempts to have any discussions with Lexus of Westmont were totally ignored. So, at this point, it appears that Lexus of Westmont, a dealer that has already proven to be irresponsible, dishonest and untrustworthy, would like me to take their word that no other damage occurred as a result of the accident that took place at their dealership with one of their employees driving the vehicle (before I accepted delivery of the vehicle). I was never given the opportunity to have the vehicle inspected after the accident and I was never given an inspection report of any type from the dealer certifying that there was no other damage. And, again, I point out that the vehicle was damaged and experienced diminished value prior to me taking delivery of the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired without my permission or agreement on terms of settlement. The vehicle was then rescheduled for transport and released to a transporter without my knowledge or authority. Luckily, I left the office at 5pm (just in time to receive notification of intent to deliver the vehicle in an hour). Even more so, was extremely lucky that I was actually in town and not on personal or business travel.Further, I may NOT have wanted Lexus of Westmont to perform the repair work as I have had excellent paint and body work completed on one of my vehicles at a local shop that does great work and provides excellent customer service. My preference would have been to have the gentleman here perform the repair work. If this is an example of "We have gone above and beyond for this customer", I would say again, BUYER BEWARE.

I recently picked up a Used Mercedes G550 at the dealership, it was a very positive process for me as a buyer. I highly recommend Mr Joe Scala to anyone looking to do business at this location. He was very proactive while not to pushy like many other sales men, he did not tell me to much stories (some sales people tell you elaborate tales) about things I do not care about. I travel a lot and he made it very easy for me to come in and he had all the paper work ready for me to sign off so I can go about my Saturday morning. I spent about 2 hr at the dealership 9 am-11 am, which is pretty impressive if you have been through buying vehicle before. The team (Sales and Finance) were very respectful of my time. Awesome Experience with our 1st Lexus Purchase!!

After doing my usual over-the-top research, we decided on buying a new 2016 RX 350. Went to a local Lexus dealer and were less than impressed. Bought a used 2014 Passat

McGrath Lexus of Westmont had a 2014 Passat for sale. I was interested in the car and Joe Scala was more then helpful. We were able to work out a price before I went down since the car was two hours away. He was very honest and even sent a video and highlighted the flaws. Once I drove to the dealership, everything checked out and I purchased it that day. About Five days later I went back down to pick up the vehicle since it had body work done to it. Great Experience until i took the vehicle home....

Everything was fine with finding the perfect vehicle (Chevrolet Tahoe) for us and the loan approval. Once the purchase went thru I took the vehicle home but I was supposed to get vehicle matts order here we are 1 year latter and I never received them also I call several times and spoke to Jeff Walker and I got nothing but excuses once I look over my paperwork so I can file a report am as missing the sold as is document that is the said what I entitle to them. Then I call and find out he no longer works there so I try to talk to the use vehicle manager more than one time and never once he try to call me back or get in contact with me so This what I can tell you do not sign any documents or do not take the vehicle until you have what they office you. I am really disappointed

Perfect car buying experience

We saw a used car on the online inventory and called to make sure it was still available. Joe emailed back and had the car ready for us when we showed up. We showed up 8 minutes before the dealership closed and fell in love with the car instantly. It was Saturday night and Joe was about to go celebrate his wife's birthday but he took the best care of us through the entire car buying process! We arrived at the Westmont location to look at a pre-owned Lexus around 6:20 PM on 3/28/2016. We had a meeting setup with Justin Big J Storandt (Yes, this was actually on the office name-plate). Upon arrival, we were told how lucky we were that we arrived a little early since there was another family trying to look at the same vehicle. Sure, we thought, just another sales tactic. The test drive was great, the car was in good shape and we decided that we wanted to see what kind of deal we could negotiate for the car. The usual tactics ensued; talking to the sales manager, stalling to make you wait, telling us how great the car was, yada-yada. After about an hour and a half in the dealership, we were going over the trade-in details and were asked what we were looking for from our current car. After more deliberations and stalling, the sales manager (Geoff Pebelske) came back and said that we were too far apart on the trade-in. While thinking that we were actively negotiating a deal and that we would meet them somewhere in the middle, we noticed that a few offices down where a family was completing paperwork on a deal. This seemed to confirm our thoughts that the other family was just a negotiating tactic. So after a few more minutes of hanging around waiting for an offer for our car (Which had never even been looked at), Geoff the sales manager walks up and again states how far apart we are on the trade. We then ask Justin the salesman if the car had been sold, to which he replied yes. So at this point we were in the dealership for over 2 hours negotiating for a car that was being sold to someone else at the exact same time. I mean, how crazy is that? Who does business that way!?!? And after seeing how upset we were and telling them that we are giving them a poor review, Justin had the nerve to offer a tank of gas as compensation. In his defense, he at least seemed embarrassed by this whole situation. Geoff on the other hand told us that this is the auto industry and left it at that. No sign of remorse or conscience. Needless to say, we will never, EVER be shopping at ANY dealership with the name McGrath on it.

Lexus is a awesome car, I own two but beware buying from westmont service sucks after you drive off the dealership lots but I guess that's everywhere, I am still waiting on a response from top management, so I will continue writing bad reviews about the westmont Lexus location since they don't like to respond to my concern.

Car purchase review

Used car fail, and Gary was the root cause

In November of 2015 I purchased a used Volkswagen Passat from McGrath Lexus of Westmont. Gay Fuller was my salesman. I had been looking for this particular car for quite some time and found it at McGrath. Inquired about it and Gary contacted me. I live in Iowa and drove 3 hours to get to the dealership to look at and ultimately purchase the car. One of the big selling points to the car that really reassured me is that Gary told me that I had a 3 month warranty on the vehicle that if I found anything major on the vehicle. 2 of my friends that came with me also had heard him mention that. After I purchased the car and made the 3 hour drive home, I had a check engine light come on. Took it to my local mechanic and he said that a timing issue was occurring on the car and said it could potentially be very serious. The day after I purchased the car I called Gary back and told him and he said that my mechanic was wrong and that all it needed was an oil change. (my mechanic laughed at that). I continued to drive the car for about a week and took it to another well known VW dealer in the area and they confirmed the same thing my mechanic said about the timing issue and said that it was going to be very expensive to fix. I even had the VW dealership call and talk to Gary and Gary argued with the service tech about the issue(his arrogance was really shining now). I talked to the used car sales manager(Geoff Pebleske) and he said that he would agree to look at the car but I would need to get it back to westmont. My VW dealer told me not to drive the car that far that I could potentially blow the motor up. So I paid the money out of my pocket to trailer the car 3 hours. McGrath gave me a loaner for 3 weeks. so after 3 weeks I returned to pick up my car again and found out all they did was an oil change on it... Hmm a 3 week long oil change? sounds sketchy. after I got the car back I had the check engine light come back on just like previously. this time when I called the dealership Gary stopped returning my phone calls. the Used car sales manager stopped returning my phone calls. I even called once and talked to a different manager who said he would look into and get back to me. all of this is about early January of 2015 that these phone calls are occurring. (only one month into my supposed warranty). I took my VW back to my mechanic and told him with my newborn child coming within a month that I need this car fixed. So after him having it for a month and almost $2000 in repairs, What had happened is the bolt on the oil pump which is in line with the timing chain had loosened. Luckily the bolt didn't fall all the way out or else I would have had to buy a whole new motor for the car. I still have the parts that my mechanic took out and you can tell that the bolt that was the issue had been loose for a while because of the wear marks on the threads. the car was a ticking time bomb and I have no idea how it didn't explode. I will admit that when I purchased the car I was so very impressed with McGrath Lexus of Westmont. On my drive home I was actually excited to purchase another car from them and I had such an amazing experience. But after being lied to by Gary, and 2 other managers I cant even believe a company continues to do business like that. Gary kept bragging to me about how good of a salesman he is. Well I guess when you tell straight lies to customers faces then I guess it would be easy to sell cars. I'm a mechanical guy myself, I realize you can't foresee issues like this. It was a coverup from day one. I didn't even make it home before the check engine light came on. so they had to of known when I bought the car. I would have been more than happy to even work out an agreement with McGrath but that's hard to do if they don't ever call you back and honor anything that they are saying. all in all I will never be going to back to McGrath Lexus of Westmont. Biggest mistake I did was even walking through the front door

I recently came in on Friday for a car wash and while in the dealership I noticed a beautiful 2016 RX350. I instantly knew it was the right car for me and my wife. Did not expect Lexus to lie to make a sale

In 2007 I bought pre-owned Lexus RX350 (with 10,000 miles) from McGrath Lexus in Westmont. Since my work requires me to drive many miles a day, and also having back issues, this car gave me a very comfortable ride, and I absolutely loved it. After 7 years and many miles, I decided to trade it in for a new one.I went back to McGrath Lexus. Sales rep Justin Storandt showed me their pre-owned inventory and we came across 2014 Lexus RX350 with only 6,000 miles. I asked number of times if this car still has a comfortable ride, since I still drive a lot for work and still have back issues. I was guaranteed by Justin and his manager Geoff Pebelske that it is exactly same car. It was not an easy decision, because the car was $40,000 (more than I wanted to spend). But since I was guaranteed that it will have the same comfortable ride, I bought the car.After just a few days of driving, I noticed that the car was driving very differently than my old one. The ride was much stiffer. My back and wrists were hurting within few days due to all the vibrations in the car. I went back to the dealership and was send to the mechanics to take a look. I was in shock when mechanics told me that the car I purchased is nothing like my old one. It has been redesigned in 2009, with a truck like ride. They went over all the changes that make this car to have a much stiffer ride.I went to speak to Justin about what happened but was told that the deal was already done and nothing can be done. I tried to speak with Geoff and he refused to see me, saying that nothing can be done.I am not in the position to waste $40,000 on a car that does not surve its purpose. And I really did not expect Lexus resort to lying to make a sale. I believe dealership should be held accountable for their actions. But the only things that I have been offered is a free car wash.

I just want to write a review about my experience at McGrath in Westmont. I received the best customer service from the time I stepped in McGrath. My salesman Justin was great. He was friendly and very knowledgeable about the vehicles there & and what was available. He made me feel very welcome. Also, Mike Agnello was great as well. He really put together the best financial package for me. Although the process was lengthy these guys made it all worth it. The customer service at McGrath is the best in town!!!!!

Best dealership experience ever

Recently I was in the market for a new car. I looked at BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Jaguar, Audi and Lexus. By far my experience at McGrath Lexus in Westmont , IL was phenomenal when compared to all the others. In the past I have bought cars at all the above dealerships but the Lexus experience was so good that it will be hard for me to go anywhere else in the future.

We've purchased sveral vehicles from McGrath Lexus. And every experience has been first class. Respectful. No pressure. Knowlegable sales associates. Professional management.Willing to make a competitive deal.I couldn't be more appreciative of Rita Barkstrom, our sales associate, and Tom O'Connor her boss.We had been looking for a particular color combination of the new RX. When we saw it, we decided we wanted to wait for another, much more rare, color combination. No problem. I have been dealing with McGrath Lexus for 20 years. This is my third Lexus. I keep coming back to this dealership because I have always experienced excellent service from my sales person when buying the cars, to my service reps and service persons when I've had my cars in for maintenance or repairs. It also helps that Lexus is such a great, dependable automobile. Also, I really enjoy seeing familiar faces that have been there as long as I've been going there, such as Rueben. When buying this last car, he happened to be strolling through the area inside where they were cleaning off the car after bringing it over from Pasquanelli Drive. I got a big hug, how are the kids etc. That's really nice. Last, but not least, Joe Scala is a personal friend - our kids went to school together. Knowing Joe personally really took the stress out of buying my new car. I knew he was going to make sure I was buying the right vehicle.

We had a great experience at McGrath Lexus of Westmont. Joe Scala is by far the best car sales associate I've ever dealt with. We were there with our three young kids. Joe understood, without us having to say, that time (3 kids) was crucial as far as getting this done quickly. He also made sure our kids were taken care of as far as food, drink and entertainment while myself and my husband were handling the details of the purchase. The facility is beautiful. I realize now just how important relationships and executive staff are within a dealership. The approach of business stems from the GM and therefore passed down to Sales personnel ( Tracy & Joe). I mentioned I would like to switch my car for an existing used car and so the search began. The professionalism and experience was fantastic . I walked away with my new Lexus (it is a used car but to me I still felt the new -car joy experience) pure awesome:) In addition with the top grade service provided i.e. New Battery / New Wheels / Brakes and Warranty. No Pressure Tactics

During my search for a newer car, I found a certified used IS 350 at McGrath Lexus of Westmont that captured my attention. I contacted online sales and they sent my information to Jeff Walker and he the car ready for me to view once I got to the dealership. Jeff was very upfront and a straight shooter, which is what I like. He did not pressure me to make a decision, but we came to an agreement on the price real quick and now I am enjoying my new car!I highly recommend the dealership and Jeff in particular when looking for a new car. Comfortable, friendly

McGrath-Westmont had a good selection of the vehicle I was looking for. Joe Scala was able to locate them and quickly bring them to the front for me to try out. The features and the differences were "explained" to me rather than "sold" to me; the difference being that I could gather information to make my own decision rather than feeling pressured by a salesman.The feel of the dealership is more like a small, self-contained "community" rather than a car dealership. Everyone's friendly and going about their business, there are many comfortable places to sit, TVs, delicious cafe, massage, shoe shine, business stations, nice bathrooms -- everything you'd need!

Rare Positive Car Buying Experience

We first visited Lexus to see about trading in a car and purchasing another pre-owned Certified Lexus GS. Although there were several cars available for one reason or another it did not meet our expectations. The new ES had just been announced and there were a few new ones. I was impressed with the new design and though Justin Storandt normally sells used models he and Tracy worked with my husband and myself and we ended up with a new ES. They could not have been more pleasant to deal with. Honestly everything was taken care of so quickly and efficiently I was overwhelmed. I came into buy a used car and ended up with a brand new car -- my first in many years. Please note we have both owned Lexus' for the last 20 or so years. Mike Connery took care of the financial part thoroughly and efficiently (as usual) and Ben helped me with all of the new features and said to stop by any time with any further assistance.

Very professional dealership

Joe Scala, our sales consultant was very easy to work with and did not try to high pressure us into buying the car that we were interested in. The price negotiation was minimal to almost none. And we did get a great deal.

Casey is a rarity

Casey was my sales associate for a used Lexus I was looking at. She was extremely helpful, friendly, very responsive, honest, and not pushy at all. Her business skills are not reflective of the norm when it comes to the "typical" car buying experience. Even though we couldn't quite come to an agreement on price (admittedly I'm looking at a very rare type of Lexus), she never once made me feel like she lost interest in the deal even though she knew it probably wouldn't happen. That's the mark of someone who really does care about the client and not just the sale. I won't hesitate to recommend her and I will continue to consider McGrath Lexus as an option when buying cars.
