Poor sales and service

I was in the market for a quality used vehicle. I decided to stop by the Glen Rock location and look at a few vehicles. Firstly, there is only one salesperson at this location and he was also trying to handle other business and trying to work with customers which caused a ridiculously long wait. The vehicles that I looked at did not seem as if they were very well maintained. Some of them looked more like junk. I ended up going to York, PA and purchasing from a bigger dealer.

Drove 3.5 hour to look at van. Saleman said it was in great shape exept small dent on back door. I arived just after 12 and only 1 person working the facility. My sales person was supposed to meet me there at lunch time but no where to be found. He left his cell phone in office. Van wasn't on site. Drove over to repair shop to find it blowing out smoke and misfiring. I wasted my day. Truck had big dents also. I will never recommend them.

Not the vehicle I expected

Purchased a 2006 Chevy Colorado in Mid-Summer 2013. Truck was in pretty good shape, but needed a break job and tires, and had a few other minor issues. People were very nice and negotiated a little on price, but not much. Initially, the truck was great, but turned out it was a maintenance nightmare. Developed a check engine light shortly afterwards that was for the ABS system. Turns out the front wheel hub speed sensors were bad (not covered under their warranty). If you've never owned a Colorado or Canyon, beware these trucks. They have several "known" issues that cost tons to fix (unfortunately I found this out after purchasing it). To fix the sensor, you need to replace the whole hub assembly, which by the way takes many hours of labor - not your typical front rotor/hub configuration. To replace both was over $1200! It got worse from there, with the following problems also occurring over the next few months: 1. Developed a leak from the rear third light - dealer wanted $300 to replace the light assembly (can't buy the gasket separately). Luckily I fixed it myself with some RTV. 2. Heater/AC blower only working on low speed. Blower resister wiring harness problem. Again, several hundred to have the dealer replace it. I would up buying an aftermarket harness and doing it myself. 3. And the worst - rough idle followed by another check engine light appeared last month. Turned out to be a bad valve seat which required replacing the entire cylinder head (only way to fix it). $3,200.00!!!!! All of these are common problems with this model (3.5L inline 5 cylinder engine), so shame on me for not researching it more. I guess what frosts me the most is: a. Manchester should have known about the head problem, as the vehicle was in for several service appointments within the last year that pointed to this problem. Buyers should note that this won't show up on a typical CarFax report that you can get or that the dealer gives you. It DOES however show up on the reports that dealers receive. b. Manchester claimed that they did a thorough multipoint inspection on the vehicle before selling it I find it hard to believe that none of these problems showed up during the inspection. c. The 90 day warranty they offer doesn't really cover anything (none of these problems), so you better make sure the vehicle is sound yourself before purchasing there. I won't be going back there in the future. Didn't feel like I was dealt with honestly. I don't think over $5000.00 in repairs in less than 6 months is "reasonable" for a vehicle with less than 60,000 miles. Could have bought the same vehicle from an individual for far less and had no worse luck with reliability/repairs.
